my experience regarding the spares of Suzuki Zeus(bought in April 2007):

    1. Clutch lever was damaged on the day of delivery. No stock, so replaced it from a brand new bike.

    2. Break light gone in two days of bike delivery, during the first service(with in a week), they didn't had the stock, I was suggested to buy it from outside. But a helpful chap replaced it from another bike(TD bike).

    3. There are issues with the spread of the head light, they said the newer bikes come with better bulb, which again is not available in their stock. I would buy it from outside.

    4. Hand grips, Suzuki accessories(cost 20/- a pair) damaged in 3 months. Never bothered to buy them again.

These are the parts which were replaced on time:

    1. Some small rubber thingy related to carburetor(cost 6/-). Replaced on third servicing.

    2. A small rubber thing which covers the kick rod to provide grip to the shoe, damaged in 6 months. Replaced promptly(i think it was 8/-). It is damaged again, will be changing for the service scheduled this week. I hope they have it in stock.

Has any one been on touring with FZ16 ? Hows the pillion seat ? Not just for touring but say if u sit for some hours and riding continuously, how it feels to the person sitting behind? Any back, butt pains ?
Im thinking its worth compromising on mileage if FZ can fulfill my 'comfort on highway' requirement. Bcos im obsessed with the styling of this beast. Not just on highway but say on long, continuous rides of 2-3 hours. Btw hoe much mileage can FZ give in cities like Pune ?

FZ owners please share ur experience.
Well IMO, FZ is good for solo riding. With pillion you will have issues like
                      1. Bottom of the bike scrapping on speed humps.
                      2. Lack of power, somehow with the pillion it feels like the bike is drained of power and it takes a lot of effort to reach a 50 kmph mark (I mean lot of throttle) hence decreasing the mileage further.
                      3. Pillion seat is okish for city riding but I doubt it will be for long rides.

I did a drive of 450 Kms in single day. The bike is good on highways, the engine is good and so is the grip.
Haven't done any long rides with pillion, but I do believe it won't be good

                        Hey guys,

I have been in a similar dilema as well for quite sometime now. But all put to rest now with the Uni.. Though will get the bike only end of this month because the black is ever so so so much in demand.

To put a few rumours to ease, the cbr150r was bought to inda for honda's rider challenge but thats about it. It never went beyond that. Based on information I got someone working close to honda there are going to be no new motorcycle releases in the small category as honda wants to concentrate on the CBR1000 and CBR1000RR at the moment.

Now I have been riding a Bullet for over 8 years now, but for reasons I know most people don't understand I am moving onto a Unicorn.

My younger brother has had one that came out from the 1st lot of uni's in india and till date no major issues with the bike. I have ridden the bike a whole lot more on long distances and if I had to compare ride quality with any thing else in its class, I would for sure as hell vote the Uni to be the undisputed king.

The whole deal with the monoshock gives unparalleled comfort on the ride (the fz also has amazing ride comfort over bad roads, but no where close!!)

On the highway the bike is amazing.. Avg crusing speeds of 80-90kmph and the bike just doesn;t tire for hours on end. (that may be slow, but thats the optimum riding speed for a healthy engine of that size, its call the 75% operating efficieny rule. 100% efficieny riding of an engine will cause long term damage. to full throttle top speed non stop runs basically).

So basically Shadow, the gs lags behind in the engine dept and the ride would pretty much be harsh compared to the uni or fz. Try it out, the uni vs the gs for ride quality.

The FZ was also an option for me, but then the darn bike lacks refinement in all aspects compared to the Uni during a ride. Hell it looks amazing.. but whats the point of a good looking bike when its all show and no freaking go!!

Ideally try riding both one after the other Uni n GS then make up ur mind!!
on a never ending journey... a journey of learning!!
