  • what bike for first time rtr 180 abs or r15 v2

hello guys I know that its been asked many times before and I've gone through most of them but my query is still not clarified. So about me I am 5'8'' around 75kg and currently living in chandigarh but due to some family problem I've to shift to kanpur(UP) and I've seen roads there, their main roads are worse than my colony's street road. So as per now I've shortlisted 2 bikes tvs apache rtr 180 abs and yamaha r15 v2. My budget is max about 1.5L. Mileage is not an issue until its as low as 30. I've chosen apache, off course for its abs feature its torque and power and r15 for its handling stability and looks. there are few things I am confused about and are follows:
1- THIS IS THE MAIN QUERY I HAVE I don't know when I've to shift so if I"ll buy bike and if its not registered permanently, then can i get it registered in kanpur with chandigarh's temporary number...???
2- r15 pillion seat is an issue, as my mum may sit 1-2 times in 2-3 months so will it be comfortable for her, i think it won't be for her...
3- One of my friends father is in army they said they can help me get a bike from csd canteen jalandhar so if any of u had bought can you please tell me how much difference will it make in on-road cost.

Only one suggestion.. If your Mum sits as a pillion, even if only ones a month, forget R15v2..
if won't be comfortable for her..
For gf or wife, its no prob.. But mothers sit with both legs to one side and v2 isn't made for that..
      better go with rtr 180..

      Ride safe and have fun.

Better stick with RTR180 as you need to take your mother along, there's no second word for that. . .

Dude, I my opinion, if your mum is really going to sit just once in 2-3 months as you have said, i really would suggest that you book her a taxi/auto on that day and pay for it. Take a R15 v2 for your self and enjoy the benefits over the ageing RTR! You will not regret it.

Get Pulsar 200NS, fits your requirements and doesn't burn too much fuel while delivering superior performance (Better than both R15 and RTR) pillion seat is comfortable too.

I'm interested in getting bikes from Army canteen too if possible. I'd be glad if I get a bike cheaper.

Dude if your mom is going to sit as a pillion then R15 is not at all good for pillion comfort....unless if u can find some other way since she is only going to sit 1-2 times in 2-3 months

RTR/R15 in 2013!!! nah.... Get the P200NS and enjoy life.... Both the Rs have passed their prime now.
If you have the budget, get the Duke 200, else P200ns would do.

returning to the query i would say both bikes are great take a test drive of both and then decide which one to buy...

My girlfriend regularly sits on a mustard yellow P200NS with 2 scratches on the tank and a green paint mark on the swingarm and the guy rides really fast too, she has told it's comfortable so far.

                        Go for 200ns dude.
I have no issues with the bike.
Bt if you really wanna stick to your choice, then rtr 180 abs.
Go for abs, because even though guys say abs isn't that necessary but trust me, you won't wanna lock up your disks at high speed.
                        Go rtr in my opinion.
                        Thank you

Get facts right buddy, try riding the V2 off-road for atleast few kms, you will find RTR more like a sofa cushion

@TS : If you want pure fun and solo rides with less off-road riding, get R15
If you want pillion comfort, and more of a city riding with ample amount of torque, go for RTR
NS has one of the hardest seats, either you can get them padded for pillion. Plus the height for pillion would be little problem.

Both are Great performers, I still enjoy my RTR to the fullest and R15 is my favorite bike(My first love). But these are old techs now(Including the P220). Hence I advice in favour of Pulsar 200ns. Its a brilliant bike, VFM, damn fun to ride and pillion comfort is better than R15. And I am 5'8" aswell and ride P200 with ease.....
Any ways, I will give TS the pros and cons-
R15-Pros-Refinement,Handling,mid range torque, LOOKS, Built Quality , handling, breaking, Best for highways.
Cons- Pillion seat(for your mom),expensive spares, low end torque.
RTR- Pros- Low end torque, Cheap spares, Handling, braking, pillion comfort, best for city.
Cons- Top end, Vibes, Tires(can be changed),
P200Ns- Pros- Torque Spread through out, Handling, braking, Can take both city and highway, VFM.
Cons- minor niggles(considering my friend's got the first batch).

You can choose any of them. My advice is P200ns.

Well laid out.. Agree with your points..

Now what the TS should do.. He should take test rides with the person whose gonna sit as pillion.. In this case, him mother and then only decide on which they feel comfortable..
