  • Which bike to choose within 2 lakh INR Budget?

    Hello xBHPians,

First of all, Myself Vivek(19) pursuing CA from Jaipur (Rajasthan, India) and doing Internet Marketing (IM) side by side. Just joined xBHP.

I need advice of you guys on what bike to choose. This will be my very first bike. Currently riding Honda Activa () from past 5-6 years.

    Budget: ~2 Lakh INR

Needs: 99.99% city ride from home to office (articleship) which will be around 25 KM round trip daily full of 'indian' roads, red lights etc. Other than this, all usual stuffs with friends, family functions and all. MAIN thing which I want to say is, there will be NO long tours, nada! (leaving those once in a lifetime ones).

Required KPL (Average): at least 30.

    Likes: cbr250r (No. 1 Choice), r15

    Won't be buying: duke200, p200ns

From July, I was working night long (IM) to earn some decent cash for my very first bike. So I want it to be a good one in the first attempt itself (Now or NEVER).

I had to take my parents permission no matter I earned this cash or they. And they seemed OK (unexpected) when I told them that I'll be spending 150,000 on purchasing a bike, So a little "please please" can increase the budget to 2,00,000 INR.

I'll be starting the test rides as soon as the Navratras start (from 16th, I guess).

This is it. Get your advises rolling please!

    Thanks,
    Vivek

Wow.. for 99.99% city usage, you won't be buying the 2 best city bikes. Good luck anyways for your selection.

For a 2 Lac Budget, you can get CBR250R ABS. Its your favorite and its a safe bet too. FE should remain on the correct side of 30 in most cases.
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

i strictly suggest you to stick with duke unless you have fairing-fetish.
and the question remains why do i race?
every finishing line is the begining of a new race.

#i don't subscribe to co-incidence,either it is the rider or the other moron on the road

(:)people keeps on saying add spark to life, bajaj got hold of that idea and added an extra spark to bike.

If majority of your ride is not dense traffic then CBR would be OK.. Not that OK but little OK!!! However if dense traffic then a no to CBR.. Duke is good.. If you do not like it then there are other pulsars or karizmas.. But if you luv CBR then do not turn back.. Buy the bike you like..

            Thanks,
            Vivek
First and foremost, each bike has it's own purpose, why it is been designed etc...
So CBR is for Touring long distances with 250cc power, Honda's engine and good tech, with an average of 25-35kmpl, somebody got 40kmpl+

Now another contender R15, The only Hottest bike in India of mass reach!!! That too people think it's over priced.
It is mainly for Short touring and Highway Stud !!! Excellent Handling,Braking, tech, 40-45kmpl, some are getting 50kmpl also(they are tortoise).

You can Enjoy R15 or CBR only if you have highway works else both will rust in city!!

Both bikes are high on maintenane, because every passion comes with a price.

NS200/Duke: For city as well as highway and touring. unstable post 120kmph-130kmph, Good technology both share same heart with little difference. 35-40kmpl for both.

NS200 is a carb and Duke is FI. NS200 is based on Racing concept, slugish on low RPM and Blast in higher RPMs. Maintenance wise both are almost same. DUke is very quick like RX100. Better handling and braking. But there are some issues reported in ownership thread.

Now as Duke/NS200 are city + highway/touring bikes which are out of your equation so don't buy anything enjoy your activa again untill you make up your mind of touring or NS200 or Duke.

For city any 150cc is more than sufficient. You have earned this money by night long working so don't buy anything that just in name of buying. It would be a waste of money.

Go for Dazzler/Hunk/CBZ or max to max RTR 180 ABS if money itches!!

above bikes are dual disc bikes! which is more better in terms of safety and ABS rocks!!

Now you decide what to buy??

If you change your mind then go with Duke else above bikes!!!

Try CBR 150.. if you like the pick up and stuff.. ride back home the baby. It is better looking than the R15 V2.0 (in my opinion) has good rear seat comfort. Has the potential to rock you. Looks very very close to CBR 250. Has got good mileage.. much more than you asked for and is cheaper.
Though Duke 200 should have been the first choice (sans the rear seat).. I dont know why you are not considering it!

you can add CBR150 to the list and if you can stretch your budget, Hyosung GT250R, killer looks, and looks so big. (ideally perfect for you)test ride each and decide.and if you can get a second hand one, get it, will save a lot of money.and best of all, you can get a lot of good condition second hand cars in that price, heck i am getting a honda city in 2.25 lakhs 30,000 to 50,000 kms done, perfect for your use.

We don't have dense traffic here in Jaipur. You can easily touch 80 usually on every road.

As now you have changed your mind, I have heard Duke is not good for tall people due to it's back placed foot rest. Check out NS200 it's good and comfortable than Duke that's what NS200 owner speaks!!! Else Check RE Electra once!! Even P220 /ZMR is good for your height BUt i would recommend P220 or NS200 now for your height!!

High revving. Too many gear shifts. Slightly heavy in standstill. It'll kill the fun of the cbr
