Arnab, actually a well maintained 150CC bike can be used as a tourer if you are not particular about top speed. Even higher capacity bikes do not do a constant 100 for extended periods of time because our Indian roads are much unpredictable and full of intersections. So don't be unduly worried about top speed, you will not be disappointed with either Pulsar 180/200 or RTR 160/180. If you want to get the best for that price check out used low mileage Karizma R, a very good tourer with comfortable crusing speeds.

Re: Touring purpose bike within 80k
I will try to answer with respect to your requirements and my opinions.
Any 150cc bike on the market will do 80-90 "all day" as you put it. Out of this I am biased towards the Trigger, a supremely capable tourer limited to the 150cc segment in all respects. Trigger is butter smooth and highly refined in the top range and will return a consistent mileage of 40-45 kmpl when cruising at 90 kmph. Another good option is GS150R. FZ will also do the needful but will probably not give you 40kmpl ever at that speeds, it will also be more stressed than others due to its lower peak torque rpm.
If you want to do 100 "all day" then RTR180 is your one choice in the 180cc segment. I will say forget about the P180 because it is far from refined. You may not get 40 kmpl in either.
P200NS is your ULTIMATE best bet according to me. It can truly cruise at 110kmph "ALL DAY", it is very refined at that speed, smooth, the liquid cooling is awesome AND it many people i know claim that it returns 40kmpl..!! Though a more realistic mileage figure is 35-36 kmpl.
P220 is also a capable tourer and can do 110 kmph "all day" at similar mileage as P200NS, but you can forget about refinement here. Go for the ZMA for refinement.
If 80K cash is your maximum budget then I will also suggest to go for a second hand, barely used, less than a year old ZMA. Otherwise buy the Trigger.---

I do have tested top speed, may be once or twice, but I don't boast about it in the forum.Originally posted by shadowgun View PostCan you swear that you'd never ever tested your bike's top end. .?

Ride Till The End...
Here if someone posts a pic just sitting on a bike without helmet, he'll be asked to remove the pic. Then if someone posts a bike pic without rear view mirrors all will start advising him on use of rear view mirrors.
But I don't see anyone educating someone that doing anything above 80kmph is illegal in India (and is unsafe too)... It is equally important too right?

Buddy, the speed limit for any two-wheeler in India is only 50 km/hr(whether inside city or on highway). You are breaking it daily. 50 Km/hr.Originally posted by SatSon View PostI do have tested top speed, may be once or twice, but I don't boast about it in the forum.

Re: Touring purpose bike within 80k
A bikes highest speed where it doesnt feel strained is attained at its peak torque rpm where you can cruise at all day long. So choose a bike by speed it does at peak torque rpm. Your requirement of highway cruising speeds and limited budget brings only some bikes into table. Don't ever go for 150cc bikes, I've toured on fz, xtreme and hunk and believe me at 90s speeds and above the efficiency drops very much as they are strained and also when you get a straight road they mighty disappoint you with top end performance.
Zmr, 200ns and pulsar 220 all the 3 bikes are suited for 100kmph all day cruising. Choose any of the above bike and satisfaction at this budget is guaranteed though zmr is slightly out of budget.
I'm having pulsar 220 and at 120kmph it does around 7.5k rpm where its peak torque is (220 revs till 11k rpm fyi) with plenty of power left for quick overtakes. With speeds around 90 -100 kmph constant I get around 46-48 kmpl which is better than 150cc bikes at this speed.
I bought 220 when 200ns was in market as 220 suited my requirements better. Fairing, Projectors and plush ride sealed the deal for me. Do take a test ride of all the bikes and decide.Fun Starts at Redline!!!

Re: Touring purpose bike within 80k
I believe refinement is the most important thing in a tourer. One does not need brutal power for touring.A large tank range is also important.
The ideal choice would be a Honda trigger or cb unicorn(Although old,its a huge hit)
Don't even consider apache,I have one and been on long rides. It can easily tire you out. Also suspension being hard and lower riding stance do not help either. It is really a fun bike rather than tourer."Vibes transmitted from crank shaft to frame, then through the bearings of the head stock and into the stem where it meets the triple clamp and into the clip-ons where it is greeted with great pleasure by my hands"-ratfighter mod rtr

Re: Touring purpose bike within 80k
He's asking for high speed touring and trigger for sure can't cruise at 110. That's very near to its top speed. Best in air cooled 150 ccs for touring is the suzuki GS 150r which comes with overdrive 6th gear. Other than that all other 150s are strained at anything more than 90kmphFun Starts at Redline!!!
