  • Used Duke 200 over a new Pulsar 200 NS?

    Greeting, fellow bikers

I've been scrolling for the past 4 years on this page and still this is my first post ever here . Always fun reading forums.

Well, this is the first time I've ever been in a dilemma regarding bikes.
Current ride is the Good old Pulsar 220 DTS-FI. And, its been really a good time. There is no terrain left that I haven't tread on. Be it sun, rain or snow, I prefer my bike to any other mode of transport.

My daily commute is around 50 Kilometers a day, with halfway in the city and the other half on the highway. Pulsar is too old to serve me and TBH, new offerings are always a catch
ATM I have set my crosshairs on 2 bikes that I can afford without landing up in Jail - The Pulsar 200NS or the Ktm Duke 200 (Used ofc)

IMO nothing beats the joy of getting your bike delivered from the Showroom. Gives you the satisfaction of having a wife without a past LOL
Then, because I am an engineer, I am bound to swoon and drool over technology and gadgetry. The Duke 200 will serve it purpose of making me feel like Batman on a real tight budget. But also it'd be like having your childhood love interest coming back to you after quite a long marriage :3

The Dukes I have in line are around 90k and have been ridden for ~7k KMS.
Please help and in return, I'll help you with fitness goals well semi srs/srs

PS> I'm 6'. Would also love to keep in mind aesthetics so I dont end up looking like Shaq O'Neal with a midget

    Query Approved

With used bikes you cannot choose, but take what you get. So the Pulsar might be a better idea.
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

I think you should go for a new P200 NS. Unless you know the previous owner of the Duke and are sure that he completed the break in the correct way.
But if you own the NS you will have the joy of getting the steed frist handedly from the showroom plus you would be waiting eagerly to complete the run in and then unlock its full power (unless you go by motoman method). Also you would get a good mileage compared to the duke.

I never buy old stuff and will never advise anyone, unless you know the owner, it's better to buy inferior than used superior and then crying later. Also duke has serious quality complaints, like front fork leak, engine.stall etc, while ns quality has improved, duke has been degraded by bajaj,
And 1.5bhp isn't that much, I've ridden both(4300kms 200ns and 800kms duke 200) being an engineer (about to) ,I'll advise ny brother to get a new p200ns in B&W or RED BLACK
Though dual tone ns looks like a Chinese thing.

          Das it mane

Really heard that Bajaj looked upon all the problems in the NS and did some Abracadabra to make it refined. More refined than the initial lot

I know its easier said than done but if you could, I would suggest waiting for a few more months and saving some more to buy a new duke.

Yes New D200 is any day a great machine to buy, Telling this from by 2 year / 18000 km riding experience. It's a joy to ride in the city & Also highways with ZERO issues with the bike tell I sold it last week and upgraded to D390.

Suggest you save up and go for it.

If you still choose to go for NS200 I would recommend to wait for couple of months and go for 200ns with Fuel injection.

              Ride safe, ride hard!!!

For a person with 6 feet height, NS suits better than duke.

And even if compared to new duke 200, NS is still VFM.

Buy a new 200 NS as the used duke seller is probably fed up of its problems

Here's a link to the ownership thread :

It should give a fair idea about every aspect of the duke

I wish someone made such an elaborate thread for the 200ns

the only downside i have heard in duke is the millage. its obvious as its 29bhp and 200 cc engine. it will easily beat pulsar 200ns in strip and curves.
duke has amazing road grip too. if you mess around with its mother board then you will most probably never reach its potential if you do not take it to a high way. this is the extent of my knowledge on duke.

and about pulsar 200ns, i would go for pulsar 220fs instead. i actually did. it costs lesser and more milage with not much compromise in the pick up or top speed.

FYI, its 25 bhp and not 29. NS is rated 23.5 bhp, not a big difference. D200 is only slightly quicker and actually has a lower mathematical top end than the NS.
