If you do the service at 500kms, there won't be need to go again at 1000kms. Then go for the second service at 2500kms.
And yes, oil-filter should be changed every time you change the oil. It for only 40rs.

Ride safe and have fun.

Re: Need a good performer bike.

Ok got it.. So
on 500 km - have to change oil and filter

on 1000 km or 1st free service - only washing/cleaning at svc, no need of oil change

on 2500 km or 2nd service, 3rd service and so on - have to change both...

Re: Need a good performer bike.

hello fellow members, its been one month since i got my FAZER. Though i almost ride it on weekends, it amazing to ride. The grip on road, the handling, looks, all is lovable. I have complete 550 kms till now. Riding below 50kmph since i get it and you will not believe the mileage figure it gave me since. I measured mileage by reserve to reserve theory. At first it gave me 49kmpl in city, then 59 and 65 kmpl simultaneously in city+highway. Maybe its because i am riding it sanely and below 50kmph orYAMAHA has done some serious modification in 2014 bikes (i don't think so), but its more than i was thinking.
I wan to ask one question, is it okay for me to take my bike to my workplace with a pillion rider before it completes 1000km ?
currently i have done 550km and my work place is almost 70-80km from here in hilly area. will it affect its engine runin period ?

abhi_szr.. Good to know that you are enjoying the bike and the mileage figures

No worries on riding with a pillion. Just keep the bike under limits and it would be fine.

As you have completed 550kms, get the first service done. It should be done between 400-600kms. Change the engine oil and oil filter.

Ride safe and have fun.

first service done and also changed the oil and oil filter. Definitely i will ride in limit (30-50kmph max) but and as being inclined road, will it not put stress on engine?

Too much babying is also harmful. Keep it mixed.
Also it won't put any stress on the engine. Its made for this.

aye aye sir... lets see, if there will not be too much luggage to carry tomorrow, i will take fazer, othrwise activa is much better option to carry luggage comfortably.

Re: Need a good performer bike.

Surely Active is a better option to carry luggages. But then putting too much load on a scooty is not a good thing as it will stress the engine. In that way, a 153cc engine is better equipped to carry loads(human/luggage ). As the engine is still new, just make sure that you do not cross 40kmph and if possible, take a 5 minute break midway.
A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

Hi Abhishek bhaiya,
Congratulation on the new bike. Didn't I tell you that the mileage of the bike depends on the riding style. I'm glad that you are satisfied with the mileage figures of your new bike.
Now that you have crossed 500 kms, keep the riding mixed. I mean there is no need to worry so much about stressing the engine. It is made to be revved, relax and enjoy the ride.
After you cross 800Kms, start giving the bike occasional bursts of speed (take it to 70-80kmph hold for few seconds and then get back to normal speeds). It is recommended as this will get your bike habitual of going at high speeds, when needed. also start raising the rpm abut 1-2 k after every 200 kms (for example after 800 kms take the bike to 5k rpm on every gear, keep doing it till 1000kms, then for 1000-1200kms take it to 6-7k rpm and so on). This will tune your bike for optimum performance for the rpm range.
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

Thanks ankey bhai.. And yes, riding style does affect mileage seriously.
I am planning to take it to Saharanpur next week and will try to follow these steps in that open highway.

by the way, where do you live Dehradun?

hello friends, how are you. I am replying to this thread a bit late.
Its been great feeling while riding this awesome bike. Went to shimla from dehradun in this bike and have ridden 2500km till now. Bike is awesome, but the drawbacks i heard before buying it, i am feeling them now. I am scared to ride it on a steep hill as i have experienced that it almost become dead in middle. While going to jakhu temple in shimla, it just turned of in the middle of steep hill. By luck we (me and my wife) were safe, but that was not a good experience. A roadside mechanic has told me that chain was loose, and it resulted the powerloss. but after tightening chain, it shows just a minimal difference in pulling power.
In whole trip bike was smooth and has given less bumps than previous szr. But on power side , i feel it struggles to climb every slope i encountered. Is this problem is with every one or there is some thing wrong with my bike.
Also i feel that while riding, it tends to turn towards right side.

Hi brother,
I am not sure what caused the bike to stall in the middle of the steep hill..., tell this to the guys at the service center, when you take it for the next servicing. They will be able to rectify and correct it.

As for the bike turning to the right side, the cone set may be misaligned or the handle may be bent if the bike had a fall. Again the service center guys can check that out.
you can check out the Ownership experience thread of your bike. You will find the solution to most of the problems there. Ask the same query on that thread. other People having same bike will be able to understand the problem better and help you more efficiently.
Ride safe.
