Re: good looking bike @80k INR

I bought the p180 due to it's practical design. I like karizma too but its under powered for its cc. The 200ns is good but it'll be difficult for ladies to sit on the bike one sided. Also, AFAIK, for extreme cold starting as in your condition, a good engine oil with less winter rating(5Wx is good in winter than 15Wx oil) will yield good results. Karizma has an engine oil with good winter rating and hence it's an advantage to it. Carbs require tuning for different conditions..

Less power for cc. Am really not sure why people get confused with cc and power..

They always say.. there is no replacement for displacement.. this is a fact. A true fact..

I had a p180 and i know the difference in power between the pulsar and karizma.. though they have same power. The power delivery is at par

Pulsar has higher transmission losses and hence will be lower powered than karizma. Karizma is a good bike and I have great respect for it. Still, if I was given an option, I'd get the p220 rather than karizma due to it's punchy power delivery...

Karizma has a smooth delivery of power. Not a high revving engine.. they are smooth as butter and perfect tourers..

Personally, I like the karizma r older version. Still, I like to ride bike with a little bit of vibes for feedback.. Hence I like pulsars and apaches more than Honda n hero m.c. bikes.....

@Thread Starter.. Wait for the P180NS which is bound to be launched soon by this year end.. I don't find a point in buying the P180 now when you know a 180 NS is going to be launched soon.. Just a suggestion

We don't know the upgrades they have done to the engine, what if the engine has more power and much smoother with better refinement and reliability.. It is highly possible

              Cheers,

yes, i have been reading a lot about 180NS and 150NS to be launched soon..
i think i will wait for the P180NS/150NS and then decide which one to go for..
              thanks for the advice

If you are willing to wait for new launches, you can.. Still, go for the bike which your heart says. You may get a new, better bike. But then, at the end of the day, you should be satisfied with it. Good luck dude

like i said, street fighter isn't my style.. so i am not considering fz v2..
though it looks very good but not my style.
and i have tried apache rtr but it feels short.. performance wise it was very good.. but i think it is not for 6 footers.. i like the looks of rtr but feels very short to me.

i will try extreme and will see how it goes..
                  thanks for the reply

new discover 150 is good on paper.. but the fairing looks too plasticky in my opinion..
i didn't like the styling of discover..
still will decide when i see it on roads.. how it looks on road to real eyes..

Lol I am 5'11 myself and ride an apache . Trust me height isn't a major factor and you'll get used to it very soon . If 80k is the budget then look no further than apache my friend because I myself took this bike after 1 long month of research and my requirements were similar to yours

I am 6'1 and I too ride an apache I completely agree with you regarding the height.

To TS: For 80k I don't think you will get anything more fun than a rtr 180! Especially in the city. Please do add it to the test ride list

You are as you said 6'1 so rtr will be a little small for you. Why not try pulsars?

I test rode pulsar 150/180, fz, rtr 160/180 and then chose rtr 180 from the lot. I Did not like the fz's near upright posture and keeping the above mentioned bikes in mind, rtr 180 definitely does NOT offer the best comfort for a tall rider but it is the best performer of the lot with good handling and an engine which revs all day This was enough for me to go for the rtr The rtr is manageable for a tall rider, not very discomforting.

well, apache was my first choice until i took a test ride..
performance wise i had no complain..

i have long legs.. and apache just didn't suit me..
i don't know how to put this in words..
my knees came slightly above those fairing/flap (or is it called knee recesses?) (i don't know the terms, sorry) which is on tank..
ideally my knee should be below that..

that's the only complain i have with apache..
i will take a TD of apache again.. this time for a little long distance. and will see how it stands..
if i decide to go with apache then i will extend the budget and get the abs version only..

Re: good looking bike @80k INR

while i was patiently waiting for pulsar 180NS/150NS (or even 160NS) my dad gave me a suggestion to buy a bike which gives a better mileage and then upgrade after 3yrs when i graduate..

i thought for a day and i think my dad is right.. after all my only usage would be for commuting and city riding.. so i think i should get a bike which can provide a healthy 55-60kmpl mileage..

so after doing some research i found that pulsar 135ls fits my all requirements. i returns excellent fuel economy, it is stylish, and it has all features of a 150cc bike.

so here are my few questions..

                            1. should i get a bike which is more performance oriented? (like p180 or xtreme) or should i get a bike with good fuel economy and then upgrade after graduation? what are your personal opinion on this?

                            2. is pulsar 135ls a good choice? i read that bajaj is not the best in engine refinement.. at least not as good as honda and yamaha.. will it serve me for 3-4years given the condition that i follow the maintenance chart and regular servicing..

                            3. is p135 too short for 6 footer?
i am 6 foot tall and i have read in many reviews that bike feels short for tall riders..
                            how bad is it?
i ride p150 and it does not feel short for me.. i like the sitting position of p150 and i have gotten used to it..
i have ridden hero splendor pro and it felt a little uncomfortable for my arms..
i have also ridden passion pro and it feels absolutely fine to me..
i have also ridden hero hf deluxe with 2 pillion and to my surprise i did not felt any pain in arms or leg..
so, compared to these bikes how short is p135?
