CBR250R - Right time to Buy?
Dear AllI am seriously considering buying the CBR250R for my daily commute of 50kms per day. But i read some article which says that honda has stopped producing the 250R and the 300R launch will happen soon. But the honda dealer nearby has ready stock of the 250R. My concern is around long term maintenance of the bike if I buy as I intent to keep it for atleast 5 years. Will spare parts be a problem say 2 years down the line? Is the 300R just a rebored version of the 250R sharing most of the components so that most parts are interchangable? Or will I be making a mistake buying a bike whose production has stopped and to be replaced by a totally different bike?Note that I am not interested in the 300R as it would stretch my budget too much. And please, no KTM duke/Pulsar/R15 suggestions.Tags: None

Go for the CBR 250 dude! I doubt on the news of 250's production being stopped yet! Even if it happens, manufacturers have to legally supply spares for 7 years or so!
Moreover, Mumbai has a lot of dealers/mechs/SVCs where your CBR can be taken care of.
Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Re: CBR250R - Right time to Buy?
My opinion, Dont go for it right now, if you are looking for resale value. Even Honda isnt interested in selling it. So if it stops, spare part might well be a problem(Thing is, even in today's time, spare part scarcity exists). My honest advice, get a 2nd hand, if you can get. Ride for 2 years, then you must have better options in the market. And resaling wont hurt you much.
BUT, If you dont give a damn on resale Value, go get a new one.

Re: CBR250R - Right time to Buy?
Though there is no official confirmation on new CBR release, it is very much expected that Honda will come up with either dual front light 250R or 300R. Definitely the price will go high to some extent, but spare parts will remain same for most of the things, as they are not going for a full remake of 250R or 300R.
My suggestion would be wait till mid 2015 or get an used CBR.
But finally, do whatever your Heart says, don't rely on other's opinion, afterall you will ride the machine with your cash. And most important thing is that, you will get almost same power with minor body work in new CBR 250R or 300R with a little bit of higher price tag.

Even I am in the same dilemma. But the answer from the dealers are different now, initially they told 2-3 months for delivery but now they say they can deliver it in 40 days. If you like VFR styling then better to go for it. Personally not a big fan of honda's dual headlamps model. It might be priced higher too.

Re: CBR250R - Right time to Buy?
Go for a 2nd hand CBR250(ABS). After 2-3 yeras, you can definitely upgrade. And by then, you might get some other options as well!A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

Re: CBR250R - Right time to Buy?
I was looking around Honda dealerships for test riding the 250R. All three dealerships had no clue on when the bike will be delivered, or if the booking would be confirmed for existing model or the new face-lifted twin headlamp model. But one thing was apparent - the dealer stocks are quite dry.
One dealership was telling me that by Nov end, he could give me some confirmed news on the face-lift model's expected date.
Waiting period quoted by all 3 were "anywhere between 2 and 3 months, but can't confirm anything"
So now, I am even more confused if I should actually wait for the CBR300R, as even Honda is talking about the CBR650's local assembly and tentative launch dates, but not spilling any word on the CBR300R !

There will be no ceeber 300R for India. The 2015 model of the 250R is expected sometime in Q1 2015.Originally posted by Auto View PostI was looking around Honda dealerships for test riding the 250R. If you have not made a decision yet, I would suggest you to do what I am doing. Go into Wait-Mode. [emoji14]
The new model is definitely better and an improvement over the current model. If Honda launches it here they definitely will increase the price (hopefully just by 15-20K) and by that time they will start to clear out the stock of the outgoing model. If you cannot/do not want to get the new version, the older one will get a lil' bit cheaper as well. So it's a win win situation for us bikers.
Also a lot of other companies are launching bikes here very fast and who knows, maybe we will be even more spoilt for choice.
I hope this helps ya.
