The NS seems to make more sense for you and with the balance of your budget you can buy decent riding gears, if you don\'t already own some.

In fact both bikes will do the job for you but NS definitely has an advantage in the city. R15 can be a little difficult to ride in very slow traffic and also to filter through. Whereas NS\'s handles are positioned commuter like, so will be easier to ride in city. Any ways, since you say your commutes are not much on traffic ridden roads, you can\'t go wrong with the R15. Both the bikes are excellent highway cruisers. Both can cruise at 100-110 kmph all day. If ridden sanely, both of them will give between you a fuel efficiency of 40-45 kmpl. Bajaj service centres are decent but Yamaha owners have seen a lot of poor ones. So please do enquire around about the particular service centres.

Also look into Hero Karizma ZMR. ZMR looks decent if not good (compared to R model). Seating is slightly sporty, say somewhere between R15 and the NS. But I found it pretty comfortable even compared to my 2012 ZMA. Has excellent low end torque for city commutes and does very well on highways too. ZMR is capable of delivering upto 50 kmpl sometimes, based on riding conditions. The major advantage of ZMR over the other two is Hero\'s widespread service which is on par with almost any other manufacturer. If the fairing or looks trouble you, leave the ZMR out of the equation.

Any ways my vote goes for the NS. Do take test rides. They will give you an idea what the bike can and cannot do.

It is an age old discussion, you will get arguments for both bikes. So let me keep it plain and simple.

NS is miles ahead of R15 in terms of acceleration.
R15 is light years ahead of NS in terms of handling, technology, build quality, reliability and niggle free ownership.

NS is a value for money product whereas R15 is expensive and premium product.

Take test rides of both and then decide.

Thanks for the deep suggestion. As far as Karizma is concerned, I personally don\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'t like the bike. Then the options comes up with NS or R15 only. I\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'ve booked NS but now I\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'m in dilemma of wether to cancel the booking and go for R15 or to be with NS only.
I want to know Pros & Cons of R15 long time use (4-5 yrs around) over NS (and vice versa also). Which bike will be good enough for that long period!!

Anyways, Both the bikes should be good in terms of long term use. You wont go wrong with any of these two.
Both are best in their class. Its only a matter of your choice.

If you prefer crazy acceleration, with vibrations and a very heavy bike, go for NS.
If you prefer mind reading handling, butter smooth and robust engine and Japanese tech, go for R15.

Take long test rides of both of them and then decide.
Meanwhile if you have any questions about R15, I being an owner of a R15 will be more than happy to help you out.

Ok,.. the first con is the rear seat height. It is like climbing a mountain, So if you mostly ride with a female pillion wearing a saree (mom), it is going to be a problem for her to climb up and down the rear seat, and it is going to create a problem for you too, cause every time you touch the brakes, mom will slide forward and your shoulders have to bear all the weight.

It is manageable for short city rides, but not for long rides. My family is on the slim side nobody weighs above 60 kgs. I\'m 5.8 feet and weight just 50kgs, mom is a bit short and a weighs a bit less too, so I manage to drop her to school in the morning without any problems.

But if you ride alone most of the time like me, it is fantastic.

Second con is the pain in the wrists and the back. You will have lean forward a bit to reach the handle bars, which will put pressure on your wrists. It is not a con because correct riding posture will get rid of the pain in a few days, as you get used to the new riding position. I have met people who have done 5000kms leh trip on R15 and didnt complain about back or wrist pain, I also know people who complain about it in 3kms short ride. So its about how you adjust to new aggressive position.

So if you dont have a history of back pains, there should be no problem.

Other than that there are no worries.
Take a test ride, a 5 min test ride will tell you more about a bike than a week of reading online.

One thing I can tell for sure for r15, being an owner, is do make sure you have a good insurance with zero depreciation.

I am totally into stunt riding and in near future track days and it literally hurts when you drop it. Those plastic parts get damaged damn easy. I dropped it thrice last year and had to personally make sure that SVC guys brought her back to as it was. I can fix everything but bent forks, broken fairings and headlamps really dig up a hole in your pocket. That\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s why this \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'nil dep.\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\' thing, it will still hurt, most SVCs take a week to make her complete. In fact sometimes plastic even breaks off if she is dropped off the center stand. So take that factor into consideration. I know I didn\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'t and now am riding it naked for past few days for practicing just incase I drop it.

Plus point of R15 is this thing is damn easy to ride. I mean i had an RTR and if you \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'bham\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\' the front brakes you go down straight, it was that simple. This thing never practically locks front wheel, grab too much of front and it will lift up. Plus on the corners, it turns so easily, responds to weight shifts like a 50kg motorcycle. So it is like a mini-sportbike in a literal sense.

I am not trying to be biased towards r15, I spoke as an owner of what I think is good and bad owning this thing. Just wanted to put this in your mind as you are about to buy.
Personally I have never ridden nor have anyone owning 200NS in my group so I can\\\'t comment on its performance. On paper it looks \\\'satisfactory\\\' and \\\'value-for-money power wise\\\'.

Bro get r15.it will give you premium feel as compared to the pulsar 200ns. Pulsar gives you acceleration but yamaha r15 gives you every thing else with a lot of confidence.

Bajaj is coming with pulsar ns 150/160 which looks same as pulsar 200ns. You will lose premium feel when small ns launched.

Only Acceleration is not matters because I have choose ns for the following reason
1.cheap as compared to yamaha r15 (33000).in 2013
2.more power than r15 and top speed.
3.easily available spare parts.
4.seating position as compared to r15.

Pulsar 200NS:
Pros
1. Excellent value for money deal.
2. Power and outright performance unmatched by R15.
3. Widespread Bajaj service network.
4. Absence of fairing means it is cheaper to repair after crashing.
5. More street friendly riding position compared to the R15.

Cons
1. Lacks refinement compared to R15.
2. Bajaj quality is okay but not consistently good like the Japs (Yamaha, Suzuki etc.)
3. Bigger engine and higher compression ratio than R15 means lesser fuel efficiency.

Yamaha R15:
Pros:
1. Brilliant handling....probably the best this side of 2 lakh rupees.(based on what I\'ve heard/read...I\'ve ridden the R15 only for short distances)
2. Supreme reliability and build quality.....I\'ve heard reports of R15s being redlined for whole days on the track and performing exactly the same the next day.
3. Better fuel economy.
4. Looks better, but then that is subjective.


Cons:
1. Lower VFM than the 200NS.
2. Extremely focused riding position gets tiresome, and pillion comfort is negligible.
3. More expensive to repair after a crash.

Being a owner of both r15 and 200ns ,let me tell you in noob language.
If you like faring poser- R15.
Else 200ns.
Thing is ..
The lack of refinement(w.r.t. r15) is taken care by ns's crazy acceleration.
The lack of speed and swiftness in r15 is taken care by smoothness of ride.
Thats all.
