    No Offense to the TS.

I am assuming you are a lady .

Gixxer should be ok with your height and you should be able to handle the weight too. Hunk and Xtreme are heavier compared to the ones mentioened. try taking a TD on gixxer for a good 5-6 kms and take U-turns, sharp braking and see if you are able to balance in those situations.

    All the best ...

Apache doesn't fit for short people.
            The bike vibrates like hell.
The riding position is far better on fz and gixxer.
            No apache please

Gixxer all the way... can check the new age Pulsars too.. Honda Unicorn will be good too.. but please i would suggest u to avoid Apache...you won't be riding to office at 70+ speed i guess cause the vibes are not felt after reaching 70+... also the tyres are a problem too... my friend had a nasty accident due to those.. 180 dual disc.. choose wisely...

Paddy, TS is Thread Starter . Gixxer is a good buy. Hunk is way too heavy for its class segment. I have no idea about xtreme sports, but looking at the vehicles on road, it doesnt seem to tbe doing well...May be i could be wrong.

Go for a TD (Test Drive) on Gixxer and see.

Gixxer is a very good option. It's rated very good by almost all reviewers and owners.

Try honda shine in 125cc category. I happened to see a few stunners in honda showroom in Chennai. If they're back they would suit your needs well and also look good

Try new yamaha saluto or pester your dad for a gixxer itself :P

Mate, I own an Apache and the vibes are not that as bad as you suggest. You make it seem like riding an Apache is like riding a mad bull. I can understand that some people absolutely detest the unrefined nature of these vibes, but come on - one can live through these vibes. And the new bikes(even after a few months of use) have much lesser vibrations early in the RPM range. Over 6k the vibes kick in and they maybe unbearable over 7k. But it is a great budget bike for riding on the streets and the city and it is, like some one suggested, good for the shorter folks due to its cramped nature.

Having said that, I feel the Unicorn 160 is currently the bike to invest in for the kind of usage TS described. Butter smooth ride. Decent power. Great FE. Not the most VFM, but you can keep it for years without a problem. The Gixxer is being lauded a lot, but it is not on my list for bikes to get.

gixxer was suitable for you!!! hmmm... that's sad! this is the commom issue every girl faces... even i had faced these kind of suitatiion... where i had pulsar 150cc (2006), daily my father used to scream at me!!! i rode it once to office and the same day.. i got nice scoldings!!! & daily scoldings continued... ufffffff!!!!!! due to very strong opposition of my father, i sold it...though my mother had purchased it for me (birthday gift).. don't worry , u can convince your dad! does your dad own any bike, if so take him with you and drive in front of him.. (that doesn't mean you have to prove your dad! he will know that you can ride a bike very well) ... now a days woman are riding bikes like harley davidson, royal enfields bikes...even bikes like suzuki hayabusa.. common where are these kind of people still.. in old century! sorry no offense to your father.. but truth is truth.. just don't give up your passion towards bikes.. dream for your bike! ok..
anyways you can try tvs bikes... ex: star city, star city+, phoenix 125cc .. & honda series bikes ex: honda twister , shine is good or suzuki hayate, slingshot+ .... i suggest you plz dont go for hero bikes

Padma if it is 125cc then get the best one!

The best 125cc in market now would probably be the Honda Shine. Has good mechanicals. Only problem is its looks. If you are looking for something youthful and good looking you can always go for stunner. If below 125cc go for Honda Twister (110).

Or if you want a cheaper Stunner go for Hero ignitor :P. Jokes apart, the bike is good. I found it very comfortable and the engine was damn smooth. Comes in good colours too.

Yamaha SS125 is an underrated bike in the segment. If you can find a good Yamaha service centre, no worries at all. The bike looks great, good colours, superb sporty engine and great handling too. Only problem is its fuel efficiency is lower than competition. Maybe 50-55kmpl? Just guessing. Owners can tell you accurately.

Suzuki has its Slingshot. I have not heard many reviews on this bike, but generally suzuki bikes are superbly built, have good engine and decent fuel economy too. Only problem like I told earlier is finding a good suzuki service centre.

I would strongly recommend TVS Pheonix too! Great looks, tons of features and decent pricing. And TVS servicing is decent generally. Only grouse would be its sucky TVS tires!

But I would still recommend you to go for SZ-RR V2.0 if you find a good Yamaha service centre. I guess it is under your budget.

Or Like Shubakv mentioned, try to convince your father by showing him you can ride any motorcycle well! And BTW whatever motorcycle you get, please buy a disc brake version!

Oh my! I hadn't noticed the new development. Well if it has to be the 100-125cc category, the Honda bikes would take my vote. I've had a Honda CB twister for close to 5 years now. The mileage is a constant 60kmpl(deteriorated from 75kmpl when it was new), takes nothing to maintain and I've gone on long ride on this bike without much problem. I've riddent the new Unicorn 160 and I'm really impressed. I've ridden the Stunner PGM-Fi version. I wouldn't know if they still are putting an FI on the stunner, but man I loved how that bike felt to ride around.

TVS bikes are nice, but after sales is a pain in the backside. Wouldn't suggest it.
