Initially I just wondered how to crouch and I spent a lot of time watching racing videos on youtube. Later after practice, today I can crouch well enough on R15, till the extent that I see through the visor.
Anyhow, coming back to the topic. Given a choice, Ninja obviously is more powerfull. But to make a choice right now: go for R15 without thoughts. Sport bikes/cars are expensive affair. Theres no escape. If Ninja comes later, think about it then. Why would you miss the sport biking fun now?

PS: R15 will not dissapoint you.

    -Goodluck!

+1 this is the answer to the query... coz even after waiting for Ninja and bought it, another bike with more specs will definitely release... so what will you do???
For the coming years we can see lots of good bikes in india...
my opinion is to buy R15 now and if ninja releases after an year u can think of it, then there will be another SBK...
so jus go for the R15 man... ninja release is not confirmed yet... coz waiting will keeps on waiting...

Buddy, my 2 bits on the whole thing.
At 6'2" , you'll not be able to totally tuck beneath any superbike without an aftermarket bubble screen. There are a lots available for Ninja 250, outside and once (if ??? ) the bike is relased maybe stores like DSG and Performance racing can import them to India.

AFA Bajaj has let us known, the Ninja coming to India will be EURO spec, hence Fuel injected, so no issues there vis-a-vis R15.

There is no way you can get 40 KMPL in city (or anywhere) on the Ninja its generally quoted to have 65 odd MPGs, which converts to 25KMPL !!

Regarding city driving, internationally Ninja is billed as a sports commuter, so it'd be okay to drive. The biggest thing is you'll get used to it. I have a 1500mm wheelbase Aquila and I am used to driving it in the city.

Performance wise it'll definitely be a notch higher than R15, so that definitely be in consideration for you. And dont worry about Ninja getting outdated soon. It took us so long to reach to the 250 multi cylinder barrier (and we still haven't gotten there ) so the 400s are not coming anytime soon !!

But the imperative factor is we are comparing between a proven product thats already in the market vs something that wil still take 6 months to be released if that ...

Lastly don't worry bout servicing, you can always get it serviced outside and go to Bajaj for only the free servicing formality !!

        So ponder and decide !!
Kawasaki Ninja : Because lazy sunday afternoons should be despatched at 160 kmph!!!
Hyosung Aquila : Because sometimes you need to look cool while riding at 40 kmph and you can do that only on a cruiser !!!

Try and wait for the Ninja 250. From what i know, Bajaj was testing it at their Chakran Plant In Pune during April. I guess they are doing that now too.
It is schedule for release end of May or early June according to Bike India - so it is around the corner. Wait for it to come out and take a test ride if the dealers offer one which i'm sure they will. It should then be easy to make your decision between the various bikes on offer.

Btw, the Ninja 250 was the hottest selling bike in the US last year. I only wish the speedometer/tachometer console was partly digital but for the time being, it is analog. But you can be sure that there will be alot of aftermarket goodies for the bike!!!

^^^ What's the point of testing an international motorcycle when it is supposed to be launched here as it is, like the R1/Fireblade/Busa?!!! Its illogical, pointless. Either Bajaj has gone nuts, or they are simply using the Ninja hype to get attention from bike enthusiasts for their own product line-up!

              True !!
I also believe Bajaj is only waiting for the gloomy economic scenario to get batter !! And perhaps equip the pro bike showroom mechs a bit better !!

Dude, lot of things matter. They will have to test, if things are able to match up with the indian conditions or not. They don't want to end up calling all the bikes after 3 months, if customers are complaining about some stupid thing going wack ...

DUDE, really! So should I conclude from your statement if something couldn't stand "Indian conditions" during their so called testing then Kawasaki would change it just for India? Not happening!

And if some stupid thing would go wack, then I am sure it won't be because of "Indian conditions", get real!

Ninja is just like any other international vehicle which is to be launched here and like any other international vehicle launched here without any testing (as far as I know), there's no testing is required for Ninja too, come on! They just need to know whether it will sell or not!

And Bajaj testing the Ninja for India would be the biggest joke, if they are really doing it then I would seriously advice Bajaj to concentrate on their own bikes first and make them better, leave the "testing" of Ninja (if any) to Kawasaki please! Just get it here!

@sarabjot141990: Correction, R15 costs 1.1 on road. Mine costed me 1.25 with all the accessories.

                          Actually, i don't agree with you Satellite.kid.

Indian conditions are extreme. You have no idea how the bikes heat up in summer if you are stuck in traffic, even when you are riding. I have a ZX11 and a ZX12R and i have seen my 12's console flash warning lights on 3 or 4 occassions because it got so so hot. I've seen coolant hoses tear and leak. Infact, i'm of the opinion the some of the coolant pipes are pretty lousy - Samco or Gates makes hoses that can actually survive extreme temperatures.

I remember when i rode with the GODS, the guys that had the 2000 - 2003 Hayabusa's, they heated up the most because the fan was located to the left side of the radiator. Everybody had to put in a second fan to compensate for the right side of the radiator. Remember, we have temperatures over 40 and then there is the bikes temperature - the thermostat activates at 88 degrees celcius. The temperatures are much different in the US and Europe

And then there are the road conditions. We don't exactly have the best roads. The suspension has to be tweaked. This is a 250cc class bike, not a litre class bike. And it doesn't matter if it is Kawasaki, Yamaha, Honda or whatever. Do you think the racing teams have a factory setup? Nope. They set up each aspect of the bike because it has to endure many laps, different conditions during a race. And they need to be fast and nimble too.

I don't think testing is a joke - i'm sure Bajaj has hired experts to do it ..... Heck, for all i know they have the Kawasaki people doing it.

And coming to your point "Either Bajaj has gone nuts, or they are simply using the Ninja hype to get attention from bike enthusiasts for their own product line-up!"
This is exactly what Honda, Yamaha and Suzuki are doing - for them its a chance to showcase impressive technology. Yes, the sales have been impressive and for a dealer it is a bonus to earn about 40,000 - 60,000 per bike which is great in addition to the higher sales of the smaller bikes they sell. But have you even seen one advertisement by the company. I haven't seen one till date. Zilch! I'm kind of disappointed about that.

                          I wouldn't take anything for granted ...........

@tronxk: I have owned a Honda Superblackbird, and I have ridden it in Delhi traffic and heat. I know how these bikes can react to Indian weather conditions, or heat and different road conditions! hehe

I still say that this testing, if any, is just a waste of time. Being a 250cc doesn't make Ninja a special case to be tested for suspension tweaks according to "Indian conditions"! Come on!
