• Duke 200 or Rc200

Hi guys.. I am planning to buy an rc200. I really like the aggressive stance as I am inclined towards sports bikes to cruisers/tourers. However, I am worrying how fragile the fairing is.. Can the fairing withstand a fall? I have had a couple of low sides on my fz n coz it is a naked bike, they weren't expensive crashes. How expensive are ktm rc200 n cbr 250r fairings in case of a damage??

Well.. Daily use, infact. I love track riding but that's not very regular as I don't have them much in my city (Hyderabad)

For daily use, D200, no questions asked. RC200 is strictly a track bike. Yes its got more appeal than the Duke but look at the practical side as well.

How much fragile is a fairing is totally dependent on how the bike falls, most of the time handlebar takes the beating and fairing takes small scratches which can be wrapped or we can hide those scratches with good sticker job.

The fairing in rc 200 will cost you more as its not made up of small.small fairings. Whereas cbr has fairing made up with different parts, so.in case of a fall you need not replace The entire fairing only the specific part has to be replaced.

For maintenance aspect. Check the ownership threads of the bike's you like, man!!! They are created for a reason for god's sake.

And if bike is needed only for city riding hands down to the duke twins and mind you they make up good tourers too.

Cheers,
Sanjay

If you like the bike go for it, i fell in love with her and couldn't be happier right now, stance is something you can get used to and as for the fairing, it's a good idea to install crash protectors if you are worried.

I use the RC200 daily and am from Hyderabad too.. You have motovation track days that you can join and use the bike on tracks.. It's an amazing bike once you know how to use it properly.. Duke is strictly a city bike..

If only for city riding and normal highway then Duke , high speed highway riding 80+ then Rc.

I doubt if they are good tourers.I mean the Duke.
It doesn't even come with a Windshield.so continuous wind blast+naked bike+stiff suspension+hard seats ....... I doubt if its a good tourer!

You need to read ankit mishra thread (because I love you) in which he toured I guess right from mumbai to delhi and back. He was continuously doing 110-120 kmph. And on such a long tour with these speeds and that too on a Indian road qualifies as a tourer.

Cheers,

Nope .just because one individual has done doesn't qualify it for a tourer bike.
Tomorrow if someone in Splendour does a 700km ride does it mean its a tourer?
Reason I am saying because I drove Duke390 and the wind blast post 110-120 is just terrible

I am sure many duke owners have toured from.small scale to large scale. You need to read more my friend, I have read stories in which RX100 getting leh'd a gs150r getting leh'd and a fz as well. Now here the bikes I mentioned classifies as a commuter except for the rx100 which is at a whole different level.

Its not what you ride but it is how you ride. And windblast is a subjective thing. Most riders dont feel fatigued even at continous high speed wind blast and some get tired even at 90kmph of speed. The capability of the bike cannot be questioned at all and if we find or search enough I am sure we will find stories on somebody touring on splendor as well.

Again I will emphasize on only one thing, touring is not just related to high speed sprints it has various aspects too and every bike can be qualified as a tourer till the rider wants it.

Forgot to mention, Sunny has toured on cbr 1000rr and yamaha r1, these both bikes are for.race track but still they were toured upon for 10000-13000 kms. So I will call these bikes as touring bikes.

Cheers,

I agree with you to a certain extent but not all.
When you say touring bikes Like RE,Mojo etc are the ones.Duke is a short geared bike and I don't consider (infact most people)it to be a touring bike.Duke etc are naked bikes and not touring bikes.CBR etc are super sports bike and not tourer.
Point is you can go on any bike at any place but when you say the bike is a tourer bike lot of things comes into play.Sure cbr1000 ,if you can take it for a city ride it doesn't mean it's a commuter bike now.
Don't get me wrong but for me tourer bike is totally different.a lot of things lies into it.
A touring motorcycle is designed for touring meaning its specifically meant for touring.they have large Displacement fairing ,large capacity fuel tanl for long range fill ups, engine with a great deal of low end horse power ,and more relaxed upright position .Harley Davidson are a good example as tourer bikes.

Since you are categorizing bikes in a legit manner then let me just correct you with Harley Davidsons. They are Cruisers not Tourers. Theres a massive difference.

A Tourer would be something like a Kawa Versys 1000 or KTM Adventure 1190. For touring you need to have the absolute best seating comfort and riding posture. Cruisers give you neither.

Also RE is a cruiser not a tourer. Mojo is a Standard bike (aka Naked, aka Roadster)

As for Tourers not to mention the Honda Goldwing, In Harleys you have the CVO Limited (specific) and Road King/Street Slide
