  • Buy a super bike in India

    Hey guys!

I want to invest in a super bike. My budget is around 20L. Easy/good loans are a plus.

I want to ride it often, so servicing, parts availability and maintenance cost are all quite important.

I would love to have feedback from existing owners

With that out of the way, I want a really fast and agile track focussed bike.

Some bikes I picked by surfing online:
    * Daytona 675R fits the bill, but it is a bit underpowered for my choice.
    * Kawasaki H2 is definitely makes me drool but is way out of budget and I have no idea about servicing
    * Ducati 899 panigale, looks under-powered on paper, otherwise a good choice.
    * Yamaha R1, a great bike, but again a bit out of budget.
    * Suzuki Hayabusa, an all time favourite but isn't it a bit outdated?

I stay in Banaglore, but I can buy it from Mumbai/Delhi as well, as long as servicing would not be an issue.

    Thanks in advance,
    Vedant.

Daytona 675R - It's the perfect track tool. I'm not sure what makes you think it is under powered. What do you ride currently?
Ninja H2 - Not exactly a track bike. Good in a straight line. ZX 10R would run rings around a track with a decent rider on board. Include ZX 10R as a choice.
Hayabusa - The mothership! But again, not exactly meant for the track.
Panigale 899 - Great track tool. Service coverage the least in India so far. Bangalore dealership would be up very soon, if not opened already.
Yamaha R1 - Great bike, but way out of your budget.
      Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.
Because everyone who passes, isn't a martyr!

        * Kawasaki H2 is definitely makes me drool but is way out of budget and I have no idea about servicing All sold out. So even if you have the money, you CANT buy it
        * Ducati 899 panigale, looks under-powered on paper, otherwise a good choice. 150 BHP and underpowered. In the same sentence?
        * Yamaha R1, a great bike, but again a bit out of budget.
        * Suzuki Hayabusa, an all time favourite but isn't it a bit outdated? Thats not even a track bike

If Daytona 675 is under-powered, why not add an arrow-exhaust and ecu-remap to it to make it much more powerful.
There are n number of ways to power-up any bike (legally or illegally).

          how can you miss ZX-10R.
Aprilia RSV4 - To be included in your list
          Gixxer 1000 R

May I know what do you ride currently Vedant.

I really like everything about the Ninja except its ride position. As a sports bike it is doubly important for me. I love the ride position on a R15 as compared to my 390 duke. The wind blast is very high at high speeds and the feel is less sporty.

            Budget = 20 Lakhs.

Please tell me which job/business you do that you saved up 12 lakhs in 12 months. And please give me some tips.

                below are my replies :

I want to ride it often, so servicing, parts availability and maintenance cost are all quite important--- voila!!! you must be looking at something which is on the comfortable side and can be used for track occasionally, why not ninja 1000 but guess what this will be underpowered as well:banghead:

Daytona 675R fits the bill, but it is a bit underpowered for my choice. - We all would like to know what you ride as of now ? and underrating a 600cc-1000cc monsters is not going to help you. Trust me they are very fast and the acceleration can wet your pants if you are saying them as underpowered.

                * Ducati 899 panigale, looks under-powered on paper, otherwise a good choice.--- 150hp low.on power, man!!! What you need is a pillow and a bed and go back to sleep.

                * Yamaha R1, a great bike, but again a bit out of budget.---- when will you stop ranting!!!, firstly you feel 600cc underpowered and then you move on to a litre class and you rant about budget. All litre class are going to cost near or above 20L except cbr1000rr which is due for the update since a long time.

                Yamaha R1 > 20l
                S1000rr> 20l
2016 zx10r will be around or above 20l
Cbr1000rr - 18l, but hopefully.after the upgrade.its going.to be the same as the other japanese counterparts

                * Suzuki Hayabusa, an all time favourite but isn't it a bit outdated? No, it isn't outdated and dont forget the number of upgrades this bike has

You have money go ahead buy a jet fighter, but stop underrating.

Firstly go ahead, test ride a daytona675r and a ducati 899 panigale, then let us know about the underpower thingy.

The maintenance on these bikes ain't cheap, and if you crash it be ready to burn a hole in the pocket.

                Cheers,
                Sanjay

Re: Buy a super bike in India

I think the Kawasaki ZX10 will fit your budget and satisfy your need for a bike that is track centric. Further, Kawasaki SBK service centers are in most big cities, so maintenance issues should be minimal. Part costs are relative here, as they are all expensive though the bikes are highly reliable so break downs are unlikely, unless you crash. Do get a zero depreciation insurance policy to minimize the damage on your pocket.

But before you even contemplate buying a SBK I caution you to question yourself if you have the requisite skill set to put any of these bikes through its paces. There have been enough horror stories of crashes both on track and off it in the past leading to loss of life and limb.

Do let us know which bike you buy. Ride safe

Re: Buy a super bike in India

Is it me or I see another silver spoon in mouth guy, having cash in hand (which is increasing with every post) out in the market to look for a bike that is non existent as per the requirements.

@TS : Did you forget the other bikes in the market or you had only these written? Ever thought of riding any of these (geared up) and the judging them for power. Someone coming from P180/D390 should choose his words and judgement carefully
