Re: Please Help Me Make A Wise Decision..
On a new vehicle, IDV is calculated as around 95% of the showroom price.Originally posted by Saurabh213 View PostJuly 2010

Since your scooty is more than 5years old, I think the depreciation percentage will be 50% and as such the premium will be low.__________________________________

Am not sure about the price. It all subject to vehicles condition and mileage run, however I think you should get around Rs.25000 or shade above?Originally posted by Saurabh213 View PostThanks

Suggest take it to your nearest TVS dealer and tell them to rate it because you want to exchange it for a jupiter or Wego. Get thier quote and then you know how
much you can bargain with others.!!__________________________________

Re: Please Help Me Make A Wise Decision..
[QUOTE=Saurabh213;1210043]This might be OT but i need help in selling my sister's scooty streak..
Few questions :
1.how much can i expect ?
Considering it's condition and the fact that it was very less used for the last six months (15 km per week) though serviced twice.
First 23k kilometers were done at 40km per day.
Ans : for a 5 year old 23k run scoot you can expect between 20 to 25k. I sold my sister's 8 years 35 k kms old Hero Honda Pleasure for 25. Considering that Hero Honda has more resale value than TVS and Bajaj, yours should get between 20 to 25k.
2.what about paper work ?
I know rc transfer is must but how to ?
Ans: Once you have fixed a deal to sell the scoot to a person. Go to the RTO with the scoot, all the papers (Original RC, Valid Insurance and your driving license). Ask the help desk that you need to transfer the RC to another person, he will give you a form. Fill it (it will contain signatures of both you ie, the current owner and the the new owner). Then you submit these forms to the required window with your and the person's id proof (DL) and the original RC. The clerk will give you a receipt of new Rc and the new owner can collect the new RC after a week.
This can be done later on, no problem. First focus on getting a good price on the scoot. When that is all done, you can do it even after a month, no problems at all.
3.battery is dead. Should i get it replaced or ask the buyer ?
Ans: It is up to you, if you replace the battery, be clear to the buyer and increase the price by 1000Rs. Don't forget to take the 2 year warranty card that comes with every good battery. This will be a proof that the battery is indeed new and bought recently and help in getting better price.
If you don't change the battery, no problem just inform the buyer about it. But expect a bit low price.
4.as it was used for only grocery runs i completely forgot about papers and now insurance and puc are expired!
Ans: No problem, PUC can be done in any authorized petrol pump for Rs 60. They don't ask for anything. Get it done.
For Insurance, again no problem, go to New India Insurance, they will charge 600 for a third party insurance. you will have to take the old expired insurance and trace the chassis no on the top page, with a pencil. They never ask question, just tell them old insurance has expired and you want a third party policy.
Feel free to ask anything else that troubles you.I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

Re: Please Help Me Make A Wise Decision..
Both have their own set of cons. Gixxer is a good overall bike but its build quality is not up to the mark if compared with fz. I have not seen hornet personally so I cant comment on it but still it lacks some basic features like engine kill switch and dc set up which is ridiclous. Hornet is good in pillion comfort but gixxer is good for girls below 50 kilos only.Originally posted by Saurabh213 View PostFinally decided to buy a bike.

Wait for the Gixxer with Rear disc brake version to hit the showrooms.Originally posted by Saurabh213 View PostFinally decided to buy a bike.

The Hornet is a good bike by performance. The biggest issue with it is the switchgear which is ANCIENT. You CAN do without kill switch, its not necessary. (Although there are rumors that its going to get a possible update, dont take my word for it though) Also its a Honda, engine refinement and reliability, no questions asked.
Gixxer is a great bike as well. Its more punchier for city riding, has everything in its switchgear. A little less refined, a little less reliable.
In terms of looks, both the bikes look great, but for me, the Hornet wins it.

Re: Please Help Me Make A Wise Decision..
Firstly please get the ownership transfer of your old scooter completed as soon as possible. You'd not want to get tangled in legal tussles for anything the present owner does, isn't it?
Now coming back to your query, both the bikes shortlisted by you are having decent power, comfort and build quality. If you are selecting a Honda, please make sure your Honda dealer offers good after sales service(Honda is notorious in this department despite having some wonderful machines).
But, please include SZ-RR(Blue Core) to your list. It's a really smooth and comfortable machine having good pick up in the 3rd gear which you'll need more often than not in city conditions. Take your time and decide.A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

Hi Saurabh,
Firstly... Please understand that Honda Hornet is the last bike in the 150 segment sports commuter with the likes of Suzuki Gixxer and Yamaha FZS v2. And hence, it overcomes many drawbacks and provides some nifty features like:
1. Rear disc with Honda's patented CBS,
2. Good power and good torque as compared to the competition (though not as quick as the gixxer) it is a really peppy engine which is sure to bring a smile on your face every time you open the throttle,
3. Amazing look and comfortable seats and a massive + stunning tank cowl.
4. And you just need to ride it once to feel the rest.
Please note that people crib for the lack of an engine kill switch and the decade old switchgear on the Honda bikes. But honestly, it's just a mere addon and the switches are not pathetic. You can deal with the key rotation. And seriously, will you be stopping the bike a lot or riding it? Hehe. Ironically, I myself crib over those age old switches and no engine kill. But then the tradeoffs are way more better.
Also, DO NOT wait for that gixxer with the rear disc...Because it's not going to arrive until next next year, that's 2017.
And yeah.... Buy a bike. Don't buy a scooter. You will understand this in future when you have an opportunity to upgrade from a basic bike to a more powerful one rather than upgrading yourself to a bike from a scooter!
My verdict: Go for Hornet. Sesky looks. Fine engine. Nice power. No issues in traffic. Sporty feeling. VFM. And it's sure to bring a smile on your face every time you ride it. Just test ride once.
I hope this helps. Please excuse me if I have wronged you in anyway. May the creator guide you well and protect you while you ride! [emoji4]

Re: Please Help Me Make A Wise Decision..
A regional manager of Suzuki at Bangalore. Also I believe Suzuki intends to clear the current stock before bringing in the updated bikes. And a gixxer has enough bite in its brakes when used well. Rear disc is not that big a deal. IMHO.Originally posted by Freak inExile View PostAnd source of this information?
