Firstly... Please understand that Honda Hornet is the last bike in the 150 segment sports commuter with the likes of Suzuki Gixxer and Yamaha FZS v2. And hence, it overcomes many drawbacks and provides some nifty features like:
    1. Rear disc with Honda's patented CBS,
    2. Good power and good torque as compared to the competition (though not as quick as the gixxer) it is a really peppy engine which is sure to bring a smile on your face every time you open the throttle,
    3. Amazing look and comfortable seats and a massive + stunning tank cowl.
    4. And you just need to ride it once to feel the rest.

Please note that people crib for the lack of an engine kill switch and the decade old switchgear on the Honda bikes. But honestly, it's just a mere addon and the switches are not pathetic. You can deal with the key rotation. And seriously, will you be stopping the bike a lot or riding it? Hehe. Ironically, I myself crib over those age old switches and no engine kill. But then the tradeoffs are way more better.

Also, DO NOT wait for that gixxer with the rear disc...Because it's not going to arrive until next next year, that's 2017.

And yeah.... Buy a bike. Don't buy a scooter. You will understand this in future when you have an opportunity to upgrade from a basic bike to a more powerful one rather than upgrading yourself to a bike from a scooter!

My verdict: Go for Hornet. Sesky looks. Fine engine. Nice power. No issues in traffic. Sporty feeling. VFM. And it's sure to bring a smile on your face every time you ride it. Just test ride once.

I hope this helps. Please excuse me if I have wronged you in anyway. May the creator guide you well and protect you while you ride! [emoji4]

I agree with you on the merits with you but ignoring dc set up yet again on such a premium product is simply ridiclous.

I hope not. Apache 200 is coming where its base version is just 9k more than gixxer, which contains rear petal disc. It is a whole different scenario if we compare it to hornet or fz v2 which are carrying much higher sticker price and offering less than the stellar apache.

In auto expo sources said that gixxer rear disc version will be launched in second quarter of 2016.

I myself waiting for gixxer rear disc version. (But confused between apache 200 which is a different story). Also it doesn't make sense to launch a product that is going to sell one year later.

Apache 200 will beat gixxer, fz and hornet hands down in performance department and in price vs preformance ratio....

Wise decision my friend! Now take good care of it. Maintain the RPM as suggested by the manual. And yeah...After u ride it for say 50 to 100 km...please replace the stock factory engine oil with a mineral oil once. U can get that changed to a synthetic oil during ur first service.

            Congratulations [emoji4][emoji106]

Since you are college goer I would recommend you a motorcycle because it gives extra fun and excitement than a scooter because of more power. Scooters are easier to handle and you said that you will not be able to go on tours so I don't think it will make much of a difference in terms related to power. You will always be carrying a bag and a scooter has more storage and you will not have to carry your bag.
