  • bajaj v15. to buy or not ?

Hello all xbhpians. I'm looking forward to buy a commuter in upcoming 3-4 months. It's gonna be 1st bike in our family so i'm looking for every aspect n details. However recently launched Bajaj V has caught up my mind n i've fallen for it. My family members also liked it. However the bike isn't available yet, so no comments can be done on performance.
My only concern is seat height which is 780mm (same as Gixxer 155) & i'm 5'11" almost. Is it gonna fit for me ? I'm also posting my requirements below. Also provide some alternatives.

    1. Budget : Upto 80k
    2. Age. : 22
    3. Height : 5'11"
    4. Weight : 72kg
    5. Intended usage : Daily use, casual commutes around city
    6. Fuel Efficiency requirement : More than 45 kmpl
    7. City & Highway percentage usage : Mostly city, 1-2 long trip rides in a year
    8. City of residence : Kalyan - Thane (Maharashtra)
    9. Brand / Bike type preference : Bajaj/Hero/Honda

If 780mm seat height is not a problem for as tall person as me, then Bajaj V15 is preferred. Please help me brothers.

The height won't be any issue at all. You're quite tall for almost all bikes available in India

Pulsar 150 costs more than 80k on road.

I see estimated price of 60-70k, but my guess is V15 will cost more than P150. Other than Discover, I highly doubt if you can find an 150cc bike under 80k.

You have time, wait for the pricing, availability and review of V15 before deciding. Until then, you can do some research. Try other choices, like the ones little over your budget. And if you're okay, try 125cc bikes as well. They will fit your budget comfortably.

For casual commuting you may even like scooters. I think I have confused you with lots of choices.

Hero Achiever and SZ-rr are the only 150cc bikes under 80k currently. Hopefully v15 can join them replacing the discover.

Thank you for the suggestions i don't want to go for scooter that's for sure
There won't be a problem to arrange Few thousands extra. I'm want to have a bike that carries a part of our history so looking for V15.
I'm not a very speed loving person but i want a bike which will look good as i ride on and should have enough power hence considering 150cc segment.
and 125 cc bikes looks too miniature & skinny in my opinion. I like little muscular n beefy bikes like trigger, pulsar etc.

Yeah. Hoping the same. Also the stock should be enough for this year at least.

If you can bear with one of the worst build quality,The V is good.Maintainence is going to be frequent.I recommend you look at other well built bikes like the Honda\Hero 125cc,TVS Victor\Phoenix 125

How are you sure about the build quality before even the bike hits the road? Have you tested the bike for more than 50K kms? I believe Bajaj is getting the quality of their products right.. Much better than how they were few years back.. The TS has mentioned he is looking for 150cc segment and you are here suggesting 125cc bikes..

@TS.. have a look at the Pulsar AS150.. looks neat and has been in the market for quite some time now.. If you can extend your budget a little more, then you have Xtreme Sports, Hunk, Gixxer and FZ (if you can extend your budget by a little more).. Can't comment on the V15 just yet but going by the Specs, it should be a great bike for commuting within city limits and occasional highway riding.. People do go out on the highways with 100cc bikes with just 8bhp.. If you want to go for the V15, wait for the bike to hit the roads.. and then wait for another 6 months to see how the reviews are.. afterall, you did mention this is going to be your first bike and I don't think you want to get disappointed in the first go.. The reviews of the bike should be out in a couple of months at max..

If you feel 125cc bike would be suffice, then don't forget to look out for the Hero Ignitor..

Thank you brother for suggestions. Pulsar as150 was considered by me, but then i read that because of high torque, engine needs to be reved high in low rpm. Picking up speed is a little struggle in low rpm. What's your opinion on this ?
Also if you can, can u explain what's relation of torque and power with RPM ? What can i expect with different scenarios w.r.to torque, power & rpm ? Thanks..

                        hi....

Why not planning for Avenger 150? The engine is refined as compared to what it was in pulsar!

I'm not really into avenger. I think V15 is good combination of both cruiser and commuter. Now the bike is close to being available, just waiting for the ride impressions and reviews.

you should buy the Bajaj V15. Remember you will also be buying a part of India's History. Thats an oppotunity not many will have.

That was my main motive. Bajaj's strategy is working, isn't it?
