• Upgrade , but which one Brain VS Heart ?

Hi friends, as of now i have Hero Honda Passion & Hero Honda Karizma ZMR.
Now i am thinking to move to 600+ section. Which 600+ cc bike is good ?
Some options i thought is N650R , CBR650R & Benelli TNT 650 ( or something from Benelli fully faired saw on road in pune ).
As of now there are more CBR250R/150R in my city & 650R is somewhat similar so both brain & heart saying no.
Haven't found any solid info of Benelli so skipping it.
Ninja! it always excited me . So prefering N650R.
But showroom person saying go for N300 instead of N650R you will get 30+ FE compared to 11.
Also Bajaj Wakadewadi Pune has N300 Special Edition Green+White combo which is looking killer. So heart saying go for it
While Brain saying around 4 lakh for 300CC is not good go for 650CC in 5.90 lakh.
2016 N650 isn't looking that much attractive with Green+Black+Silver combo.

It's really confusing which one to choose.

Can some one please share some info ? Any other bike to consider ?

My primary requirement is 100/150 km daily ride on mixed road . And after ZMR i like Fully Faired Bike so no Naked till BMW G310R.

You sound so muddled that even my head is spinning trying to figure out what exactly you want
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

What exactly do you want? CBR650R? Or did you mean 650F??

Eider has recently introduce few of their bikes.. CFMoto 650.. It will cost you close to about 4.5 On Road.. Check it out..

If you want music to your ears, then it would be good if you can go for an inline 4 Benelli TNT 650.. but then, you are saying no to Naked.. Damn, I am now confused..

And I though I was the only one

Bro, what exactly do you require a superbike for? performance, looks or status symbol?

Personally, I have never been a big fan of Kawasaki, I would chose BN602 (Benelli 600i) out of the lot.

An inline four engine at the cheapest price.. and every time you rip open the throttle, the sound it makes you feel like man... Pure Nirvana (Every penny well spent!)

keep us posted on your decision.. by the way what's your budget?

any idea when G310R is going to be launched?

That is why one should talk to real owners and go through the ownership logs instead of listening to the almighty dealership folk!
N650R returns in excess of 23-24 kmpl for most users here. With a controlled throttle over long tours, people have gotten 26+ too.

But if you primarily plan to ride in city, N300 would keep you happy.

A Ninja 300 (or any 300) can happily cruise at 120 just as a N650 or any 650 for that matter. If you want to do 180s then God save you and the others ...

Buying a big bike has it perks in terms of wow factor, show off, bling ... weve. But if you want a motorcycle to live with and have the power to do weekend rides and fancy stuff ... get a 300 and get accessories.

In this age and economy nothing you buy will be unique ... maybe more than an FZ but not unique.

Buying a big bike is one thing ... living with it and its expenses/tantrums is another. I remember a 650 user posting his running expenses for his ownership and i thought ... "damnnn ... I will get another 300 for it". Heart tells you a lot of things brother ... but let the mind have its say too as that is what will pay the bills later.

Let me tell you a story ... a true story

The other Saturday (quite a few ones ago) I was riding back from the mall. There was a Ninja 650 stuck in traffic beside me; maybe someone from here, with an aftermarket exhaust (two small pipes coming from the side ... IXIL i guess). The bike was so hot that it burned me ... couldn't help but feel sorry for the rider. After 30 minutes I was in the middle of the flyover (some 100 mts) and he was still there (almost). Definitely wasn't that I was more skilled nor that he was not ... he just couldn't move the way I did ...

I'm not against big bikes ... actually love them (who doesn't). I would buy one too ... on the day it seemed practical in this country to own one. Until then a 300 is my super bike ...
When I'm on the road, I'm indestructible. No one can stop me... but they try.

Agree with you.. 100 Likes to your post.. I believe the same.. in-fact, me and Divya Sharan had quite a lot of discussion regarding this.. we will settle down with a 300cc bike for the very same reason and for me it has to be a multicylinder.. A bike which can do ~120 kmph without straining the engine (Depending on the conditions) and a bike which is a little easy on the pocket in terms of maintenance.. Which zeroes down to Ninja 300, R3 or the TNT 300.. Might consider the Tornado 302 if launched in India..

Ignoring that Aural pleasure yada yada yada and other things ... I'll take a White Ninja 300 any day. My philosophy ...

It makes 31 at the wheel ... seems puny but you can do wonders. Even with an R3 ... more so with a Ninja. You can save ~2 lakhs over the cheapest 600.

Still have money ... put it in the bike ... drop it, shave it and put some chips and pipes on it and it'll be a bloody rocket. You can lose at least 20 kgs and make 5-7 hp more ... now that's one hell of a unique ride that can even put 600's to shame and bragging rights of the most unique ride.

In the immortal words of Eminem ... 'In life, you got your wanna be's, your gonna be's and your has-been's ... then you got your hustlers and hardcore'

As of now no issue of budget, i initially thought of Monster ZX14R or ZX10R but practical part of brain said why to buy it when you can't even utilise it's 50% power?
So keeping in mind Performance, looks & Status Symbol thought for 650, so atleast i can utilise ~60/80% power of it.
Yes i would love to have that sound of inline four, but also want it to be looker so prefering fully faired.
No idea about G310R but hoping to be released around Diwali.

For city i have Passion & for highway ZMR. Just wanted something bigger powerfull to roll on everyday on highway

Ohh you are wrong. Very wrong. It makes a world of difference. and a bike is much, much more than it's engine. even with the engine the 300cc kwacker is a treat in this side of 4 lakh. Before the TNT300 came along, it had almost no competition.
The Ninja 300 is a great machine. The prime point is the motor is happy throughout the rev range and not in the top band like the Z250.
If it was me, I'd settle for the Benelli TNT 300, solely 'cause of that sound.

BTW, The Ninja has a top whack of around 190kph+. Still think its' not a "BIG" upgrade over the Zmr???

lol, then I'd be technically "downgrading" once I get an entry level twin cylinder, for I ride a Classic 350. ROFL.

Is those radiator/cooling technology ineffective in big bikes? Almost burning other's too?

It's the country you are in ... its hot I had a Super low for the weekend and vowed never to have Tandoori Chicken after experiencing what I had... poor chickens

Problem is the underlined part. 'As of now...' It doesn't end with as of now and goes on for ever and ever .... the pain and cost ... of spares and services ... a fully faired bike doesn't qualify it to be a looker ... I would look at a Ducati Monster rather than the CBR650 thing

And you using 60/80% of a 650 is ... yeah not for this country again.

A 650 is not really a status symbol ... you can get a Ninja 650 for as low as 3 (ok 3.5) and not a single soul would know. Its never the ride ... its the rider

My ZMR is happy to do 100 all time, i am not looking for all speed.

On this my friend, you are so wrong .... 38.5BHP and 27NM vs 20bhp and 19 NM wrong. I've all but respect for the ZMR, but it doesn't hold a candle to the beacon that the Ninja is ... often touted as the best beginner's bike in the world.
End of the day my friend, people can only advise you based on our experience as a community and that of ownership ... the decision is all yours and you need to understand the pros and cons of each segment of motorcycle and what and why you need it for.

Happy riding ...
When I'm on the road, I'm indestructible. No one can stop me... but they try.

Seriously? LMAO BIG upgrade? I believe you own the first generation ZMR.. even if you own the 2014 ZMR, it goes no where near the Ninja 300.. no ways.. Not at all.. The Ninja is way superior.. Both in terms of performance and quality..

How do you compare a ZMR with Ninja 300? Man, even upgrading to the RC200 is a huge upgrade from the ZMR in terms of performance.. Don't go by the CC.. never.. Going by what you say, anyone moving to the Duke/RC 390 from RE 350 is not a BIG upgrade

Re: Upgrade , but which one Brain VS Heart ?

This post is not to help you with which bike to buy. It is more of a general statement.

Some people believe that 300cc is all you need to commute daily in the city. Good for them.

Others commute on 600s, 1000s and even the Hayabusa. Even Harleys!

What do you want and what are you capable of, only you know!

Yes, the N3 will feel powerful after a ZMR. But things like power, speed etc are relative. The other day i was riding in rush hour Gurgaon-Delhi traffic on a Rocket III, no problems whatsoever. Would i want to do that everyday, probably not.

The joy of big bikes is not the top speed (we do not have roads for high speeds), it is all about acceleration. The incredible acceleration is what makes it so much fun to ride, even in the city. I remember riding the Daytona R in congested city traffic from Manesar to Noida and i had a blast. Aggressive riding posture, supersport, high revving engine, low torque notwithstanding, it was fantastic.

The Benelli 899 is a hoot to ride in traffic.

I cannot sit and recall all the big bikes i have ridden in traffic, but let me assure you that rarely ever have i felt it a pain to ride! If i had the money why wouldn't I! Maybe i wouldn't want to ride a big bike everyday in traffic. So what, i will just keep a 200cc for daily commutes!

If you feel you are capable riding a big bike everyday, then go for it. If you feel you aren't ready, then you aren't!
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!
