Ok, bro, I have a serious suggestion for you - please don't laugh about what I am saying - because I am saying this with fairly long riding experience and also the fact that currently I am owning Triumph Street Triple 675 as well..
It is natural for all of us to really want bigger and better always - but if you really are looking only for comfortable ride and not looking for very long distances but want a sufficiently peppy performance bike that won't badly dent your finances - then I really have a suggestion - go ahead and buy Bajaj Avenger 200 (with new triple spark ignition engine). It is giving you somewhat cruiser style comfort, it is sufficiently fast and it won't hurt your finances for maintenance in longer run.
Please don't burn Rs 2 Lakh just because you have them - may be you keep some part of it aside as an FD now and later when you really want to upgrade, that time it will contribute to your down payment after 5 years! Buy a relatively simple motorcycle now and if really you feel the urge, buy a bigger bike after 4-5 years...
From that point of view, Bajaj Avenger has no competitors really.
Frankly, Royal Enfield is good only because of the effective AURA built by its cult following in our country (which developed mainly because it was the only cruiser like big bike with a big sound for too many years, plus it is durable and can be passed from one generation to other! But it does require plenty of care.)
Spend some money on getting really decent helmet and other riding gear too...Save more money for next 4 years and then buy something really big - whatever best option that would be available at that point of time.
Even Suzuki Gixxer and Yamaha FZ16 V2.0 would do a great job for you with decent performance, good comfort and also quite good mileage.
Needless to say - none of these options (Avenger, Gixxer, FZ) are as glamorous/exciting to ride as KTM Duke 200 (or in other direction, not classically charming and quirky like Royal Enfield 350/500) - but truly these are practical bikes for someone like you...
For zippy excitement, look nowhere but KTM Duke 200 if you can compromise somewhat about comfort - it is the best value for money - but compared to other options I suggested, it will need more care and maintenance (remember it is firangi brand!). If you ride this bike for 10 km you will really like it...

). So even if BMW may not out run KTM, it may still out do it as an all-rounder that is much easier to live with and yet have some fun when needed. At a larger scale those qualities have made me go for Triumph Street Triple even though purely for the price and power, there were other options. For sheer performance at unbeatable price, KTM Duke 390 can't be beaten by BMW I am very sure.
