What is decompression?? I knew it means losing air, are you loosing air or the bike?

No. I wasn't living in city for past 3 years so didn't got chance to drive bikes like this. Once a month I come to chennai home.

Am too not fully aware of the tech.

Older bullets have decompression lever to start them. It just opens exhaust so it ll be easy to start.

I have memories of an Ex military person near my home trying to start his bullet for 30min. It's an art. Like you have to kick 20+ times to get the engine running.
Newer bullets don't have them.


Even now Diesel engines used for basic generators & concrete mixers have an lever that needs to lifted up before hand cranking it & closed as soon as we get the speed.

Afaik sometimes during long drives the heat or improper maintenance causes decompression making engine stalling & impossible to start.

My dad had this situation when there was no public transport available and he gotta urgently reach home 400km away. He took Bajaj Discover 125 for this and when near Tirupati (still 120km travel remaining) when he ran over a speed breaker engine stalled & couldn't start Cz of this. Have to adjust the valve. Good time an mechanic shop was nearby & it was just time of closing.

Which valve? How to adjust that valve? By hands? By tools?
Do read about warming up the engine too.
And yes there is nothing like decompression or compression in bullets.
And yes do read about how choke works on a bike. And let me find that lever in old bullets which opens the exhaust.

Has any one done a long ride or a tour with a V15 yet? I am looking for a bike with similar requirement 85% City and 15% Touring usage, so far I have zeroed on V15 and Avenger 150/220 (My max budget is around 90k). My heart is going for the V15 somehow I liked the looks and its firing sound (and it is a steel at 73k on road) but mind suggests to go for an Avenger.

Plus thing with V15 is smooth gear shift (I am accustomed to Old Pulsar all up gear pattern) and zippy drive in traffic but seems at a speed of above 70+ km V15 starts choking out.

With Avenger only issue I feel is the manoeuvrability in traffic due to the longer wheelbase and size of the bike.

Have you considered the hornet 160?

So far I haven't considered monoshock suspension bikes considering my weight which is well above the very very heavy category . Still I'll give it a try.
