  • Query on TVS XL 100

I would like to request feedback from anyone who has owned TVS XL 100 or TVS XL HD

Is it good enough for a city commuter ?

Does it has decent torque and power to go through signals and commute across city traffic ?

Reason why I am planning to buy it is because I dont want to spend much now as I plan to get the KTM Adventure when it releases, but still need a bike for strictly commuting as of now

    Thanks

An XL 100 would cost you around 30k and get you lots of load carrying ability. If its purely meant for city commute have you considered an Scooter, even a pre-owned would do.

Yes, a TVS XL100 would be a good choice for the following reasons:
            1. You can pass off as a milkman (no offence to either),
            2. Nobody touches the bike when parked,
            3. You can carry decent amount of load despite maintaining 40 kmph types speeds (I don't think it touches 50+, not sure),
            4. You get 100 kmpl + mileage,
            5. An XL 100 once beat me on my Karizma in heavy traffic, I just couldn't catch him.
            Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.
Because everyone who passes, isn't a martyr!

I have seen XL-100 widely used by daily business guys like milk and fish vendors. Strong built, can carry a good amount of load, however have not seen any office goers using this one...!!

If your commute is less than 20 kms per day, get the TVS Excel, if it is more than 20 kms get a second hand sub 100cc bike at the same cost.
Anything from Hero motocorp would be good and within budget (Splendor, passion, Splendor+, passion+).
Or If you want to carry load get a gearless scoot (Used Activas, wegos are easily found in second hand market).
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

Not trolling, I had booked the RS200 but cancelled it when I came to know KTM Adventure would be coming to India

Thanks, second preference would be Bajaj CT100B as it would be only 4000-5000 more for a bigger fuel tank, proper bike look but I find the XL 100 kinda more fun, sort of like a Navi but at half the cost

Thanks, not so inclined towards scooters, their small tyres tend to skid a lot during rains (activa), plus their weight displacement is bad, entire weight is towards the rear tyre, kinda feel the XL 100 would be light enough in city traffic, I could even pick it up instead of braking

I dont care how I might look on it as it would be a temporary solution till the KTM Adventure releases, won't be using it for load carrying, just not sure if 40 kmph will be good enough for city traffic or shall I consider Bajaj CT100B which would be a little more faster

My commute would be around 44km per day, 22km and back, budget is between 30000-36000 for now as I want to save up for KTM Adventure, all hero bikes come to around 45000+ on road and scooters come at around 55000+, hence I am thinking of either TVS XL which would come to around 32000 on road or Bajaj CT100B which would come to around 35000 on road, find the TVS XL kinda light weight and fun but not sure if it will be fast enough in city traffic and whether or not I shall put some extra and get the CT100B

                        @yudhistir,

If you like TVS XL so much then go for it.

If you are little concerned about Speed & a proper bike to commute office, I suggest you to go for a Bajaj CT100B. It has not only a bigger tank but also more powerful than XL. CT100B is very simple design, yet looks very decent.

In future, after you own KTM this CT100B will be a backup bike.

Bajaj CT100B makes more sense, considering it will have more power, better brakes and lights. Also, 44km daily on a slow moped (in stock condition) is no fun.

TVS XL struggles in hilly areas. Consider the star Sports. 36000/- for the star sports. It's a better commuter.
