Is cbr250 good for city use? It ticks all the boxes. Abs, quality, reliability. Also, I'll be going for a used one.

Finally decided! KTM 390 vs royal Enfield thunder bird 350
I use CBR for highway, city, village and slum use. Once you get used to the riding position, it's easy.Originally posted by Hollowback View PostIs cbr250 good for city use? It ticks all the boxes. What I mean is
Does the engine get strained if we ride it on 2nd-3rd gear in the city at low speed? 20-30?
My friend told me his bike would strain at low speed.
Shall I purchase a new one? Or second hand? Is it worth getting a new one now?

For the starter of this thread,
The bike for your requirement is yet to be manufactured. Why don't you try a custom build?

Minimum speed for 2nd gear is 17 kmph. Third gear minimum speed is 30 kmph. Below this, the bike starts knocking.Originally posted by Hollowback View PostI like the position

CBR is a sports bike, you have to learn to control the vehicle at high rpms on low gear.
I follow a pattern like this
Change to 2nd at 20kmph
Change to 3rd at 30 kmph
Change to 4th at 40kmph
Change to 5th at 50 kmph
Change to 6th at 70 kmph

How is this compared to the KTM 200? Is that more relaxed to ride?Originally posted by leech View PostMinimum speed for 2nd gear is 17 kmph. Third gear minimum speed is 30 kmph. Below this, the bike starts knocking.

KTM seems good for city use, I mean I can be rough and take it through corners etc cause of its shape.
Shall I wait for Husqvarna?

Dude you're waaaaay too confused
Instead of getting into all this, book test rides of all the bikes you're interested in, i.e. the CBR 250, RC 390, and the RE 350 and after these test rides, see which one you like the most.
This will keep confusing you and all us of who are giving you advise, and on different days you'll have different impulses, so best thing, TD it

Re: Finally decided! KTM 390 vs royal Enfield thunder bird 350
So I did test ride the KTM 200(am riding one right now) KTM 390 rc, classic 500 and Electra 350. I'm leaning towards the Electra 350 just the reliability part stops me. But I always service my bike on time.Originally posted by AngadV View PostDude you're waaaaay too confused

I still dont get the connection between reliability and doing own service.Originally posted by Hollowback View PostI'm leaning towards the Electra 350 just the reliability part stops me. But I always service my bike on time.

Re: Finally decided! KTM 390 vs royal Enfield thunder bird 350
Basically what it means is that Enfield bikes, after every once in a while, have a few issues here and there, which you'll have to get fixed. Service is just a periodic maintainence every few months, while you might have problems every few weeks.Originally posted by Hollowback View PostI am super confused. Its just that I heard that royal Enfield's break down a lot. What I mean is, if I service on time will they still break down? Or will they be OK? No troll zzzz
Let me just sum it up for you, since you seem so undecided:
CBR 250 is really reliable, smooth, and all round package, which can be a tourer and commuter both. The main downside right now is that its an old bike, i.e. it was launched a long time ago, and has not been updated.
The Enfield is a bike only for those who love these sort of bikes, you have high maintainence in terms of money, TIME, and if you're buying it for any other reason, remember what you're getting into. As far as I know, these are handmade, so some people are there who have issues all the time, and some who dont. Other features of it you already know
The RC 390 too is not as reliable as CBR, it does have occasional problems, although newer models have really fixed this. The upside is high VFM for money, with high power, Metzler, abs, and slipper clutch. The downside being vibrations, and a new model coming in 2017 to replace it.
Now these are your main options as far as I can see, if you budget is lower than 3 lakhs.
To add to this, around a year ago I too had this same dilemma, although I didn't consider RE. I avoided the cbr mainly because its old, and I loved the looks of the RC more. If thats not an issue with you, CBR is the bike for you. If you really like Enfield, like how some people are passionate about it, you can manage the niggles unless you have any financial problems. Avoid it though if you just find it more convenient out of these. Regarding the KTM, I've already posted earlier, in the first reply of this thread.
I've tried making it as detailed as I could, even I was really confused while choosing my bike, so don't worry, and feel free to ask any other questions you'd like

So basically if I look after my RE it won't give me issues I guess.
I have eyes on the Electra cause of electric start.
So if I get an Enfield
Service it on time
Keep a eye on it.
It should be OK?
I'm a diY guy I service my scooter myself.
Use to do the same to my car.
I'm leaning towards the RE
Cause that's the bike I enjoyed ridding the most.
