That's exactly what I feel too, good that our govt. has enforced a law now to make ABS mandatory in all existing 150cc and higher capacity vehicles by 2018Originally posted by mknaidu11 View Post15-20,000rs spent now, is worth saving for money spent in hospitals, maintenance due to crashes or buying a new bike. Think this way.

Go look at the CBR on display, buddy. I had assumed you already test rode the CBR but you mentioned now that you haven't even seen the 2016 models in the flesh!
Go see it, ride it. And about ABS, you need to practice sudden braking on an empty road. Nothing else will prepare you for real life panic braking. ABS won't save you from skidding on sand or slush. I believe you need traction control for that.
I have a non ABS model, works fine for me. I press the rear brake hard first during low speed stops, and a second later, the front brakes. The rear fishtails, but I've never lost control of the bike.Last edited by leech; 10-30-2016, 01:50 PM.

ABS requires you to press the brake pedal a little hard to start reacting. In normal braking (we are used to normal riding and pink braking), the ABS does not start. ABS fitted brakes will behave normal as long as you are braking normal till the point it is pressed hard. People judge it like stopping distance is more. This is misconception shown in various videos including in west.Originally posted by leech View Post, you need to practice sudden braking on an empty road. Mind will not react same in every situation. This is something normal braking.Originally posted by leech View PostI have a non ABS model, works fine for me. Naidu sir, you have misunderstood me. Or perhaps it was a wrong quote?
I don't judge ABS about stopping distance. It's about skidding on sand or slush. Will ABS prevent that?
Second, we have to train the mind to press the brakes the correct way, in non ABS. ABS will prevent locking up of the tyre due to hard braking, to avoid fishtails.
What do you mean by "this is something normal braking?"

Made me really happy.
And i went on a ride with my bullet friends and 3 of them were like Don't buy a Bajaj.
Did you say bullet?? No offence but for most Enfield owners there are 2 kinds of Motorcycles. One is bullet the rest are all bikes.
Hmm an Enfield guy calling bajaj unreliable?? Wow.

And then today i heard the news that one guy had a cello tape taped to his ignition coil or something, directly from then Bajaj SV to hide a crack.
Bajaj or no bajaj most of the SVCs are there to loot guys.. period.
I am still handling the nuisances of a SVC here for the last 3 months.
Guess the brand ??
Yeah its Yamaha "The Reliable".

You are not wrong. I wanted to emphasis on hard braking on ABS as you said to make a practice. Absolutely fine, nothing wrong.Originally posted by leech View PostNaidu sir, you have misunderstood me. Or perhaps it was a wrong quote?

You are right about skidding on sand & slush to certain extent. However you can refer to gain some more user reviews on ABS at this article;

Your braking habit is absolutely normal, under normal reactive conditions.
As I pointed out my points were to emphasis on positive points of ABS. Negative point is cost on small bikes which is significant in small bikes. May be half of the cost of bike in small capacity bikes. Hope you agree with me.Avoid noise pollution. Avoid honking.

xD i know ABS is a controversial topic.Originally posted by mknaidu11 View PostSorry Zerocool! Your thread got hijacked on ABS.
Personally i think buying the ABS variant is a wise decision. But when your pocket is tight you really can't fight.
By the way, consider something goes wrong with Kratos and i decide not to buy it. Then, is CBR 250R a worth option?
Considering its 5 years old.

My advice will be not to hurry. Take your time. Impulsive decisions are always bad. I agree to advise by Divya Sharan. You get time to save money. It will be worth investing money on a reputed bike than bikes with many first time launch glitches.Originally posted by Zerocool1431 View PostxD i know ABS is a controversial topic.

I know that it's definitely worth to invest money in a reputed bike, but my problem is that I've made my dad agree to buy a bike after 5 years of demanding.Originally posted by mknaidu11 View PostMy advice will be not to hurry. I'm damn sure that if I don't buy a bike in the next 2 months, i ever won't be getting one.
I do earn on my own and I'm paying for the bike all by myself. But you know some parents are completely against "Two-wheelers". Same goes for me.
So i have to buy before he changes his mind.
I can even buy after he does it, but the who wants quarrels in their family?
I'm badly stuck between all this.

Duke 390 goes 2.30 Lakhs in Mumbai, which is 30,000 extra than my strict budget of 2 lakhs. So Duke 390 was out of the consideration way before.Originally posted by mknaidu11 View PostHi, did you check KTM Duke 390, almost same CC, 43HP and ABS, what else in < 2 Lakhs this price range??

Re: Bajaj. Should i trust this brand for my first bike worth approx 2 lakhs? (Kratos 400)
The Duke 390 is a modern bike, with a lot of sensors, but still can't beat the CBR in reliability. However, most CBR250 owners I know upgrade within 3-4 years of buying it once they get the cash for new rides. They get bored of the power. A coupe of 390 owners I know sold their Dukes after 2 years because they got fed up of frequent SVC visits.
If you're planning to keep the bike for more than 5 years, the CBR makes sense. It can take a lot of bad roads. Good, solid bike with only 2 major issues : a bad CCT quality, which shows up after 10~25k kms and cost ₹500 to replace, and shims, which cost 2k to replace, and usually shows up after 20-40k kms.Last edited by leech; 10-30-2016, 06:34 PM.
