Which bike to buy ranging 600-900 CC
hi, I am going to buy a bike in my life for the first time . Have been driving cars since past 14 years, drove bikes also but never owned one . Now, as per my stature I cannot afford to own a bike lesser than 4-5 lacs "lol" . Seek advise from you all for a good suggestion . -
Re: Which bike to buy ranging 600-900 CC
Topic Approved.
Rohan, I would suggest you jot down some important parameters as to how you intend to use it. What do you look for in a bike?
Unless you don't jot down that, we will be unable to suggest you meaningful and suitable bikes. As of now, you just said that it should be as per your stature...
For that, I can suggest you Kawasaki Ninja 650, Triumph Street Triple 675, Kawasaki Z800, Triumph Daytona 675 (non R or R model), etc.
Out of these bikes, the initial ones are comfortable and suitable for touring, and the later ones are racy and suitable for involving, performance riding.
Now, will you please clarify your requirements in terms of looks/ style, maintenance, performance, more precise pricing, etc?---

I'm assuming that you're 32 or older.
what do u mean by stature? physical or social? the "lol" at the end of that sentence causes a bit of confusion?
If you're a 32 year old (or older)who's 6ft 8" there are a bunch of options out there.
If you're a 32 year old (or older) who wants a bike that's 4-5 lacs because other bikes are "too cheap" to been seen on, then there's a bunch of advice regarding that too.
waiting to to know which one it is..

Re: Which bike to buy ranging 600-900 CC
Hi , I realise my mistake to be more explicit about it . I am about to be 30 and had a wish to buy a motorbike since teenage . Finally I am good to go. I mentioned stature becaus I would like to ride the bike to my workplace as well. So when I mentioned stature I wish to mention that I would not be wiling to drive a pulsar or an FZ or a KTM for that matter etc to my work coz they are more suited to the pretty toung age group and yes are very common won't like to ride one.Originally posted by xionite View PostI'm assuming that you're 32 or older.

I wish to have a cruiser wh Ch is comfortable to rise 600+ cc . It should be comfortable for city as well as highway rides and should have a pillion seat / option is there.
One last thing I can think off is , it should not be like I am standing at a mechanics shop for taking, routine breakdown more than once or thrice in 3 months .
I hope o have been able to mention what i wish to see in an upcoming buy .

Parts underlined are contradictory.Originally posted by Rohan.budhiraja View PostI mentioned stature because I would like to ride the bike to my workplace as well.

1. Riding any big bike in city is a pain.
2. Heat generated would bother you all the time. Engine would run hot, fans on LC bikes would run all the time and you have to wait for them to stop after a long ride around town.
Additional points (continued from above, none of which are optional):
3. Search for reputable petrol bunks.
4. Spend money on quality riding gear (a full face helmet, jacket, gloves and boots at least. Riding pants/jeans would complete the package).
5. You have been driving all your life, but how do you feel about your riding capabilities? How good are you anticipating the road and its users? Lastly, how much weight can you lift? Cruisers are heavy. And costly. But you seem to have an infinite budget here.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Re: Which bike to buy ranging 600-900 CC
So you are about to be 30 and driving cars for 14years, so if my maths is correct you are driving cars since 15/16years. SO that proves you are already in the habit of breaking laws (under age driving). Might be normal for your "stature" but may be not for other road users (I hope you know there are other innocent people on road too).
So you want a 600cc bike which has pillion seat option. I guess every bike has it by default, I never saw a single seat bike, or may be you have seen some cycles which never had any pillion seat.
Another thing, you want a bike but cant go down to get it rectified if something happens to it, shows your "stature or might be "low" for your "stature"? Is it?
Last I remember in this whole world finding a perfect bike is not possible, so sorry to burst your small bubble there.
Now coming to your post about "stature" and taking your bike to workplace for "show off"> Answer these questions first :- Can you show me which part of workplace says that bike/car is proportional to the designation?
- Can you please let me know that your seniors / juniors come in Rolls Royce Phantom or Maruti?
- Can you please stop being a show off and ask TVS to make a good big bike for you.
I hope you have some good suggestions now, and yes I hope you understand the fact that no bike defines "stature", the day you understand it, come back with a sensible question on he forum and people will help you out.Fare thee well xBhp, All the best for being the biggest name in corporate world

Hi, thanks for you inputs ,I honestly was unaware about the heat and fan thing you have mentioned. Definitely I have a budget ranging 6-8 lacs.Originally posted by Divya Sharan View PostParts underlined are contradictory.

Maximum weight to the bike I can say I rode iron 883 and street 750 HD's. Comfortable withy heir weight 214-260 Kg. City rides I know are painful but would be just 1 day a week which is fine . But still not able to make a choice .
Accessories like riding gloves, jeans and jackets is something I can have an option but the most important tjing as per me now to decide is to bike .

Pick one.
Just to clarify, I'm not saying that there are no reliable cruisers.
All I'm saying is that in India, there are no reliable cruisers on sale between 6-8 lakhs.
Well, you have the Harleys, which are famed for their unreliability, and then you have Hyosung, which are pretty much the same.
You can consider the Bonneville, but I suspect that you wont, because it is too likely to be mistaken for a Enfield.Last edited by xPolice; 11-29-2016, 02:15 PM.

Hi, thanks a lot for your inputs . Got to heAR that cruisers are not reliable . So thy breakdown often ? Lot of mantenance all the time ? I know triumph's are a reliable stuff but yes my friend you got me right ... they give that peculiar royal Enfield look and for the hefty amount they come for .. I think it would be a no.Originally posted by HyperRetard View PostSo lets see.

I am not willing to go for any Chinese bike , for that matter hyosung.. etc .
I thought of Kawa vulcan S. Got to know kawa'S are reliable bikes and are assembled by Bajaj in india . They come on CKD . So I expect the new variant cruiser would be a similar performance . Please correct me if I am wrong .
What are your reviews about the kawa'S ,.
And do you think HD would be a bad option to go for a rider like me ... a rookie ?

See, Harley Davidson apart from the weight are not a bad option for the new. They're torquey, carry their weight well, perform good, and are a natural cruiser.Originally posted by Rohan.budhiraja View PostHi, thanks a lot for your inputs . I've test ridden both of them. Street 750 didn't have good brakes back then, they were like drum brakes, even worse than my Karizma or Duke 390, but I believe this has been solved now. Sound was like any normal bike, and definitely unlike Harley's legendary thump.
Its low end, starting torque seemed better than Iron 883, although Iron is not bad at starting, and Iron picks up better later on...
Finishing of Street 750 was so-so. Welding and wiring and all, didn't present the perfect sight, although its tolerable.
Iron 883 was nice riding, but it was a hellish noisy thumper!! Its bass resonates in closed areas like anything! May cause a headache if you wish to take it upto sensitive ages like 40-50 or so.
Street was comparatively silent. Street's looks are a like or hate though.
In terms of budget, Street 750 wins it nice and easy I guess. Iron 883 is however, pure Harley sound and feel though, probably the prime reason why you would want this brand anyways... isn't it?

Hi Samarth , moment anybody zeros down the choice to HD , the bike that comes to my kind is iron 883 .Originally posted by Samarth 619 View PostSee, Harley Davidson apart from the weight are not a bad option for the new. After discussing this bike , the response have been rally mixed .
People to own Harley are themselves not that confident to advise This, high maintenance , low mileage , if breaks down even for a small thing you have to take it to its nearest workshop .
So back to the question , how is iron 883to buy and what are the pros and cons of the Nile .

Re: Which bike to buy ranging 600-900 CC
You haven't owned a bike since so long. And you want to start by riding a 600cc. I would suggest you start with RE 350, use it for a couple of years and then go for a 600cc. And many people who are age > 30 ride KTM's and R15's. If you start using the RE you can get acquainted with the problems of owning a bike and how to overcome them. It will be easier for you.
I have seen lot of your age people who buy costly cruisers, supersports and still use their car most of the days.

Re: Which bike to buy ranging 600-900 CC
Hi
I guess a Triumph Street Twin should be a great option for your use. Its sleek, easy to ride and comfortable for everyday use too. I had ridden the earlier Bonneville extensively and found it good for daily usage in case one would want to...! Best part is the service offered by Triumph India is reliable.
You could try the Harleys too but I felt the Triumphs were better off in terms of reliability and dynamics. The Harley Super Low used to be around but its been discontinued now. You could get a pristine used one. Harley after sales is good too.

Re: Which bike to buy ranging 600-900 CC
Just an advice for the TS, start from lower segment bikes and you can't ignore riding gears. Just buying a superbike doesn't end the story, maintenance part plays a major role. So, start from lower segments, spend some time with it and progress ahead because these superbikes are not easy to handle machines even ktm duke 390 acceleration is hard to handle.
