Haha.. Yeah bro.Originally posted by masterminds View PostOh boy that's bad, I don't know why but my heart is tilting towards the Himalayan (stupid heart).
They had shown the Fi and abs version in the recent expo don't know when they are going to launch that. But as they say Enfield's with more technology means more headache [emoji2].
Modern enfields have a lot of problems I guess.
Took a TD of Dominar today.
Will be posting in the dominar thread when i find time..

The Duke 390 will definitely get you into a personal connect with immense pleasure and experience.Originally posted by masterminds View PostHello everyone, I am in my late twenties, about 5' 10 tall, living in mumbai, married and looking for bike [emoji2] .
Would be using it mostly on weekends, so no commuting. Need something for long-term as I do not upgrade often (something that lasts another 5-7 years).
Would need something for the local runs to the mall, theaters etc and highway rides.
I read Ravi sir TB500 thread so did a short test ride of thunderbird and in excitement made the initial booking amount of 5k, after doing a thorough read have came to notice some niggles with instrument cluster and so on. Did a bit longer test ride, it feels like driving a dumper (could be just the test ride vehicle), breaks were not powerful and engine was course in sound and behaviour.
In the meanwhile news came in about the dominor, the entire family liked the bike, test rode it and seems the engine is refined and has benefits such as tubeless tyres , abs , liquid cooled engine which could be a boon for travelling. However bajaj ass is not that great and news is parts used are not top class (could be just rumours).
Then we have KTM 390 (the hooligan) , best of the parts are used, heard 2017 edition could get GPS, which would be a great for touring. However seats are not great.
Please suggest something with 2.5lakhs which powerful, easy to use in the city for short runs and planted for the long runs. Sorry for the long post thanks in advance !
Nevertheless, the Himalayan can take you anywhere and everywhere.
I'd suggest you to take a ride and then make your personal choice.
But as for me, The D390 beat the others hands down.

As long as a bike can sustain 90-100kph I am good with it (I don't feel comfortable above that on Indian roads).Originally posted by Sethuraam18 View PostThe Duke 390 will definitely get you into a personal connect with immense pleasure and experience.

A good seat & posture for rider and pillion is what kills KTM.
it would be good to have a nice suspension for our not so great roads that's what is getting himalayan to the top of the list.
Need to test ride himalayan and decide. (they didn't have one over the weekend)

Riding at 90-100 kmph on Indian roads without ABS is not safe either 😋Originally posted by masterminds View PostAs long as a bike can sustain 90-100kph I am good with it (I don't feel comfortable above that on Indian roads).

ABS is any day good to have, I have just listed my priorities viz able to cruise at 90-100, good seats and posture for rider and pillion and ability to take bad roads.Originally posted by kausarayub View PostRiding at 90-100 kmph on Indian roads without ABS is not safe either 😋
And yes those speeds would depend on various factors like road, traffic , weather etc etc..

I agree with you to some extent mate but you might want to know a little more before making the decision.Originally posted by masterminds View PostAs long as a bike can sustain 90-100kph I am good with it (I don't feel comfortable above that on Indian roads).

The Duke 390's riding position is one of the finest and will allow you to ride continuously, hours together.
Adding on, the suspension comes with 10 different preloads. This means you can adjust the suspension according to the condition of the road (1, the softer side and 10 for maximum preload).
The metzelers on the other hand, provide you with an excellent road grip.
Yes, the seats and pillion seems to be a drawback (only during long touring), but otherwise, it's an exquisite machine.
The Himalayan has it's pro's, so does the KTM.
Hope this has helped you [emoji5]

KTM is a great bike, I need the bike only for weekends and as of now thinking of doing long runs on it for which pillion comfort is necessary.Originally posted by Sethuraam18 View PostI agree with you to some extent mate but you might want to know a little more before making the decision.

KTM test ride was only available in the compound area which is not sufficient
Took test ride of the himalayan, was a good experience and my stupid heart was already set on it so switched the booking to himalayan. Let's see if the heart wins or the mind still has a climax in store [emoji6]

Congrats buddy, wish you many happy miles. Dominar definitely is a game changer.Originally posted by Santosh Vaza View Postwent through reviews of dominar 400, it was pretty introduced in reviews. did a test ride on dominar 400 for about 15-20km, and i really liked it.
whatever the review for bajaj as company is, but change is inevitable......
booked dominar 400
Had there been a company showroom or a big dealership in navi mumbai, I would have bought it eyes closed, every few months small dealerships open and then packup. Roadside mechanics are not easy to deal with and if anything goes wrong you can't hold any one accountable. Plus pillion comfort for long rides was another thing to consider. Those are a few things that have kept me away from the dominar.
