Take the Himalayan if you want to battle bad roads both inside and outside the urban areas, much better comfort for the buttocks of the rider and the pillion, longer time period between consecutive services, rarely seen on the roads, officially available sports(offroad) exhaust that won't void warranty and unbeatable touring abilities due to the ability to carry jerry cans and luggage with the utmost ease. It is a bike that will go over any kind of terrain and is indeed one of kind currently in India, at the price bracket it sits in.
    OR
Take the Dominar if you prefer a slightly faster bike, roadster like feel due to the riding posture, slipper clutch, digital gadgetry like FI, AHO, ABS and LED headlights. It is very capable bike that can tour with ease. Probably has less problems than a Royal Enfield throwing tantrums. Bajaj service centers and after sales has a better reputation than Royal Enfield, so I have heard/read. Its natural habitat is the thriving city where it will excel in bumper to bumper traffic and the occasional(or everyday) highway straights.

    Cheers and regards.
    Ride safe!
First of all Congrats on your purchase and wish you many happy miles, I read your first ride report after getting the bike and liked the unbiased review.

I don't drive/ride fast, rarely go above 100 in my car let alone on a bike.

Just want something comfortable to sit on and handle our not so good roads all day long, for which himalayan seems a good option.

Would miss the abs and tubeless tyres of the dominar though.

Thanks again for taking out your time to assist.

The ride quality is very plush in the Himalayan due to its suspension. I've cruised between 90-110kmph on the highways and taken it for some off-road duties too. It just swallows whatever the roads throw at it. There were no vibes till 110kmph which is very "uncharacteristic" of RE. So you can rest assured it's a very good and unique offering from RE.

I think your heart keeps beeping Himalayan So I will suggest you one exercise, if you haven't done it already. Join the Himalayan owner's page, a very active one, in FB and go through the issues that its owner face. If those scary stories make you think again, then don't proceed with Himalayan. Instead if your mind keeps telling that such problems can be dealt with and you are mentally prepared to face come what may, then boy you are in true love so just go ahead and grab her. You'll not regret the decision!

      Cheers!
Thanks, having a first hand account of the bike does help and is reassuring.

I searched for the group on FB and sent the request, don't know if its the right group but so far I see mostly happy owners.

Let's hope for the best, thank you.

Thank you very much for the kind words and wishes.

For that purpose, the Himalayan will suit you nicely. It is a bike that lets you slow down and forget about the time ticking away. I find myself slowing down day by day as I ride the bike even when I'm late to the office. One reason is the lovely exhaust that pops and burble beautifully when you slow down, you will fall in love with that, and it is a stock bike! Bad roads are abundant here and with the Himalayan you can cover them with ease and even go over diversions or the median in case of a bad traffic jam or a construction site.

Regarding the ABS and tubeless tyres, I don't think you will miss them. Maybe, maybe not.
On a personal note, I would have loved the bike a lot more if it had fuel injection to make it altitude independent. But I guess Royal Enfield did that for a reason.

        Cheers and regards.

Re: Bike with a soul for less than 2.5 lakhs

There have been many times in my life I have listened to my mind (and made some good decisions) , this time I let the heart win though. Made full payment for the himalayan today.

Thank you everyone from the bottom of my heart for coming out and helping me with this.

Was informed by executive bike will be called from yard once payment received (will take 2days as per them). I have requested for a Jan 17 model , which has been promised.

They said pdi of bikes is outsourced to third party but before registration will call and show me the bike (not sure how true is that)

I feel it will take 10-15 days as they will only give with permanent number.

          Thanks again guys !
