DO NOT REPLY! Bike bought. >AS200, for those of you wondering<

    1. Budget 80K On-Road (about 74/k ex-showroom would be nice)
    2. Age 25, but I dont see how that matters
    3. Height six feet, (i'm so tall, that akal ghutno mein chali gayi xD )
    4. Weight lets put it at a 100, (a nice big round number. As round as me. Almost)
    5. Intended usage (eg. Office/College commute, Highway runs, Racetrack usage, Weekend recreation riding etc.) Well, basically for touring. I have a car to commute.
    6. Fuel Efficiency requirement (approx., if any) 15 kmpl+ is allright
    7. City & Highway percentage usage 10% city & 90% highway
    8. Approximate Daily / Monthly running difficult to say
    9. City / Town /Village of residence (so we can evaluate road conditions / traffic / terrain / altitude / OTR pricing) Amritsar
    10. Brand / Bike type preference (if any) I'd prefer a *CARBURETED* bike

    What I want?
I want a reliable comfortable go anywhere, motorcycle, that can be fixed anywhere, by any roadside mechanic, which has a good comfortable seat, and a decent riding posture. Oh, and the bike should be able to do 120 kph all day, and not break into sweat. I want a bike that has atleast a 15 litre fuel tank, and a Metal fuel tank.
I WANT THE OLD KARIZMA. <weeps uncontrollably)

However, its time to accept the harsh realities, and move on. The 'ZMA is no longer in production, and my family would kill me if i ever uttered the second hand word. With the production of the lame replacement that Hero put up now ceased, I'm left wondering what to buy.

I have shortlisted the following few contenders.

    Pulsar 180 (75K ex-showroom)
Whether it can do 120 all day is a concern? Also, I've had people call this bike pre-historic. (The person(my classmate) who called this bike pre-historic rides an enfield. Oh, the irony)
Apache 180 (75K ex-showroom) The concerns with this one are a) ergonomics vis-avis and my height and weight; b) it wasnt really designed to be a tourer.
Unicorn 160 (73K ex-showroom) It beats the other two hands down in refinement and reliability and comfort, but then I'm skeptical about whether it can do 120 all day. It is a beefed up 150cc rather than a proper 180.

    Any other suggestions welcome.

PS: For the Arithmomaniacs, yes, the old ZMA was a 90K on-road bike, and not a 80K, but that was one bike that I would not mind extending my budget for.

PPS: I have taken a great deal of time to list each and every of my requirement, so I would appreciate if you actually took out time to read it, and then recommend a bike.

This is your 2015 'What Bike?' Thread? Every year you start a what bike thread and then back off after people have posted suggestions

You have described the Pulsar 220, though i realize you have to extend your budget for that.
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

Really? you are only expecting 15+ kmpl from a 150cc? [emoji12]

Anyways, Unicorn won't be able to do 120kph constantly!
If you shortlisted the Pulsar 150, why not the Pulsar 135?
Its a better bike in my opinion and can easily do 115kph constantly!

Yes, I understand that P220 does 90% of what the old Zma used to do. But the question is what % of what 220 des is achieved by the P180. Can it do 120 all day?

Neither the ZMA or P220/P180 would do 120 all day for many days!

I can speak for a Karizma for sure. It can do 100 all day and still stay healthy. Because then you're using 75-80% of it's max potential.
Running anything at the peak performance regularly for a long time means frequent maintenance issues.

Lol pulsar135, even pulsar 180 cannot do that kind of speeds constantly.
If you can ignore the looks of now discontinued zma then you can get some cool discounts .

I can ignore the looks. No issues about it.

But leave the discount, the dealers here dont even have it in stock, and havent had it in months. Whenever you go to them, they have the standard reason "Low demand sir. On order. Put down a deposit and we will order it for you."

                        ZMA suits your requirements ,

You can contact dealers of nearby cities, someone would surely have old stock.

I rode pulsar 180 but p135 part is my assumption. It may reach that speed but doing that constantly is not possible even on zma without harming the engine.constantly you can maintain max 90 to 95 kmph on pulsar 135 even then it will be very strained.

I own a Pulsar 135 and riding 100+ constantly is a piece of cake for this machine, without any strain.
Rode it at 110+ for around 7-8 kilometers, didn't give me any problems.
Don't know about P180, ZMA can definitely do much better though!

Absolutely correct. Doing 100+ constantly on any sub 150 cc bike on sale in India will rip its internals to pieces.
However for people who think doing 15,000-25,000 km without any issues is long term reliability; then what we say won't be taken positively.

Do it for 100 km constantly and let us know. A ZMA can do 100 all day! Do 115 all day and you may have an opened engine in a year.
ZMA does 96 kmph at 6,000 RPM - its peak torque point in 5th gear. Hence it seems to do 100 just fine.
