• Which bike should I buy?

I'm in a big dilemma . I want to buy a new bike and my budget is around 1.5 lac... I have shortlisted KTM Duke 200 , Yamaha fz25 , Thunderbird 350 , RE Himalayan , cbr250r and dominar 400 . I don't feel too good about the dominar as I've heard Bajaj is unreliable, and the royal Enfields are very attractive for me both the TB and himalayan but again I've been hearing a lot of unreliability issues about the RE . I was inclined towards CBR but it is kinda outdated. I'm a novice and this will be my first costly bike . I intend to use the bike for commuting and touring equally. Please help me fellow riders .

Well if you don't want a Bajaj, RE or Honda, then buy the FZ25!
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

KTM Duke 200 - poor FE, perceived bad quality of spares, engine overheat issues.
Yamaha FZ25 - all good except poor illumination by those LED head lamps. You would need to fix additional headlamps before hitting the highway. Plus, it's costly at almost 1.4 lacs on road.
Thunderbird 350 - carries an image of making frequent service center trips. Very few actually like getting their hands dirty.
RE Himalayan - Poor quality check at RE has resulted in Himalayan with engine issues, broken frames etc.
CBR250R - old work horse, no news if/when an update would come.
Dominar 400 - perceived bad quality of Bajaj motorbikes on a whole!

Take a TR and talk to genuine owners - don't believe what everyone says on the road. Follow the ownership reports for these bikes on the forum, they're a goldmine for knowledge.
Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.
Because everyone who passes, isn't a martyr!

I'm open to any new suggestions wherein the onroad price didn't cross 1.8lac

It's not that I'm against buying any of these bikes it's just that I've heard these cons about those particular bikes. I may be wrong and that's why I'm here for experienced suggestions

Dude, never ask for bike suggestions. Go for a TD and buy whichever you like the most. Every bike will have it's advantages and disadvantages. On a personal note, I'll probably go with a Japanese vehicle any time.

OK... I'll try to specifically ask questions.... Is it true that when planning on touring that involves 1500+ kms on a TB or Himalayan you need to carry a lot of spare brake and clutch wires as they don't sustain?

No .... Bajaj bikes are not unreliable ... I have owned Pulsar & Discover both .... They were great to me .... But you have to maintain it little bit .... don't worry ... you can go for Bajaj

I need to disagree with you a bit on some of the bikes!

The Duke 200 doesn't have poor fuel efficiency. What kmpl do you consider poor? With sane riding the bike easily gives 35-40 kmpl. I have got a little more than 40 in the himalayas on the 200. The problem is that very few people ride this bike sanely

I think the FZ 25 is excellent VFM at 1.4!

The Dominar is a big step up in terms of overall quality from Bajaj.

Agree with you, hence I used the term 'perceived'. To me, all Bajaj bikes are VFM. Spares are available and are cheap. D400 is an excellent bike. Though I feel FZ25 a little pricey but Yamahas and them Hondas cost a premium in my mind.

D200 in B2B traffic yields 26-30ish kmpl in Bangy and I do blame on the riding style. Touring obviously delivers higher FE figures.

I would suggest the FZ25.. It is a beautiful looking bike and like Divya Sharan has already mentioned, poor light illumination is the killer.. But the engine so far hasn't had any issues considering it is a new bike and usually new bikes have issues.

Apart from that, you have the option of TVS Apache RTR2004V.. it is a great value for money and the quality of the bike is pretty good..

else, extend your budget by a little more and grab the Mojo jojo
