Already nice suggestions came out from riders. If novice than my take will be FZ25, niggle free, issueless till you outgrow on this bike.
        Avoid noise pollution. Avoid honking.

Yes this is my first 'purpose' bike... I have plans of touring on the bike I'll buy... Damn choosing is very tough.. it reminds me of the time when I had to choose starter Pokemon in Nintendo [emoji23] [emoji23] ..... Is Bajaj still unreliable.. would it break mid way on a long tour. What do you guys think

Bajaj is a lot reliable than the previous gens. Although I never faced reliability issues even in the previous gens. Pulsars just go on and on even on used oil after making pizzas.

I had some issues but it came out to be the problem with the mechanics (especially in Chennai) and not the bike. They charge very high and bike works fine for half a month for about 500km and then the engine starts giving problem.

Luckily I got the original cylinder of my bike back and fixed the issue😍 now she sounds sexy . Check the link below

No it won't breakdown. It gives some issues in chainsprocket, timing chain sounds etc but it won't leave you stranded in middle of no where(unleas u don't give her food and water 😂). These issue you can solve by servicing.

Re: Which bike should I buy?

Fz25 is pretty good option, suitable for commutting and touring as well. It has durable Yamaha engine and good service and good mileage to for a quarter litre. But if you wish to go big, go for dominar 400 ( great value for Money) it is a rock solid tourer and pretty good for commutting to.

Re: Which bike should I buy?

I am a Dominar Owner and the over all experience with the bike is good(Just one month after buying). Post first service and an ECU update, the bike handles like a gem and the linear power delivery is best suited for highways. In city, it is a little (comparatively) heavy to ride(comparing with the 200 CC light weight guys). You will be constantly changing between 1st and second gear.

The serious issues i faced were
                    1. A rattling noise when I try to give a sudden dosage of acceleration. ~ Solved, it was from the number plate. Applied a double sided tape and that rattling is no more.
                    2. A little heat on your feet(especially when u ride in chappals) ~ being performance oriented it happens, but noticeable only when you are stranded in a signal or when stationary.
                    3. Paint peel off from the engine(near gear lever) ~ Bajaj is investigating (and my service guys experiencing that for the first time) .

I have owned and have ridden many Mobikes and this one is an actual bang for money that you spend. When buying, go for ABS version as this enhances the safety Quotient.

BTW. there are some small inconvenience that I do experience.
                    1. Taking this bike off from tight parking spots require some effort
                    2. Lack of centre stand, which is gonna affect your chain maintenance. ~ I Solved by buying a moto jack from Amazon. (search and you can find that).
                    3. Enquiry from fellow bikers when waiting in the signals. (U'll Enjoy that ogles )

Re: Which bike should I buy?

Ok, at the risk of being shunted out I will suggest you the TB500 for your needs. True the RE has some niggles but they have been able to work out most of those in the last 2-3 years, but of course there will be a few bad ones as examples. But I have seen that most new RE bikes ridden by my friends have not face any issues while riding. Test ride the bike to know if you like it.
No brand, Bajaj, Hero or any other is so bad that it will cause a breakdown on the road if they are maintained properly. This usually happens because of extreme neglect by owners. The quality of Indian bikes have gone up by leaps in recent years in general. KTMs are generally not so comfortable for touring though there are many who have done extremely long rides with them too. The Mojo is also not to be dismissed, so, actually you don't buy a bike for a purpose, you buy what you really like and use it for any purpose.

This one is good! The feel of riding is great, but cruising speed is low(you won't miss scenery). New gen TB's are not that high on maintenance, check the brakes as well as I feel its tad low for a bike that size. Try riding the Std500 as well.

As some one above suggests, try doing a test ride on all the bikes. include TB500 as sparky suggested and also Cruise 220 from Bajaj. Its a VFM package, good for touring, bad for tight traffic and parking spots, Engine is as good as you can get and have mileage as well. With a price just around 1.1 L( On Road in Kerala), nothing can beat the value that it offers(Only if you wish to tour a lot). I have one of my colleagues riding the same 50 KM's daily and he is happy with it. He was saying that no fatigue creeps in even after these daily rides.
Do update on the results after completing the test ride.

Thankyou everyone... I got a test ride of some of the bikes... Now dominar has kinda gone a bit far due to the GST as I was already low on budget but still trying...

As far as now Mojo is 2L and odd thousands, tourer edition is 2.17L on road Chennai. I haven't checked Dominar price after GST. FZ25 IS A GOOD CHOICE, ALSO THERE IS NS200 WHICH YOU NEVER SHOULD NEGLECT.

Choices is yours. Ride all bikes which suit your budget. Select the best so you won't regret later that why I dint buy that bike.

When I bought 180 I liked 220 but budget problems and later I was regretting that why I dint buy it. Couple of thousands does matter on your feelings. It's the feel you get when you ride the bike. Find it

So some bike options near that 2 lakh mark

MOJO is A big NONO you may never know when one of your silencer falls off :P

CBR 250R Though refined and will suit your requirements still outdated and not worth the money to be bought as new as there are not updates to it.

                              D200 better consider d D250

D250 Good bike with good power and looks(subjectively) touring potential ( KTMs have started to sound better thanks to exhausts)

Dominar400 bike to go for. Value for money maybe little difficult to handle in tight spots but you will get used to it. You wont outgrow this bike in easily. Add a custom windscreen for windblast protection.

FZ25 Lacks 6th gear for highway cruising. . and little down on power for a 250. but refined engine and muscular looks.

ABS is always a welcome feature and will surely save you somewhere down the road. Only kicks in when you actually have messed up the braking so a must have feature watching your back.

Choice is yours to make but with these options I would go for D250 or the Dominar 400.
