Re: Thinking to buy a used motorcycle, help me!!!!
Wouldn't a non abs dominar come under 90k?
Many ppl are selling because of weight of the bike!
Yes I know that the non abs breed is rare but we can always look out for one 😃.
Cbr 250 is a very good bike but then finding one in a good condition is a problem.
Many ppl think that its a sports bike rather than a sports tourer and rip it every now and then.
If looking for a Cbr do give it a thorough check.
That bike has a bullet proof engine!

Not sure if that is a wise investment. Buy some riding gear, new chain sprocket, change oil, tyres and save the money for the next generation of bikes.
You sir, just made a lot of sense.

I'm 5'3 inches tall with short legs; I couldn't handle that machine in city traffic. I love CBR 250 <3, but it is very hard to keep up with that.Originally posted by TVSian View PostThe R15 isn't much of an upgrade from your FZ16.Also,The seating Position is a track-focussed and wouldn't be all that comfortable on highways. You can try slightly old AS200.It's a great tourer.Has a semi- fairing up front to reduce the wind blast.6 Gears,Can do 100-110kmhr all day long. Its currently discontinued.Build Quality won't be Yamaha levels though. There are some fairing vibrations.Another bike is an Avenger 220.It has a different-tuned Pulsar 220 Engine.Very comfortable.Only that it doesn't have a 6th gear.
The CBR 250 is the best option here but I don't think you can find one for that price. You can wait and search. If possible,Get the ABS Version. It is a life saver in highways.
All the best for your purchase

I'm going to look at few motorcycles today, I will update the thread once I do.
I really appreciate all your inputs. I would also consider keeping my Fz16 for now and save the money for a next new bike (DeepDmnr's suggestion, it made sense).

Re: Thinking to buy a used motorcycle, help me!!!!
If you like yamaha fz then save money at get new fz25 (250cc) does 140 top can easily cruise at 115-120, return 40-45kmpl. 20bhp 20nm. Very stable, a lot better than fz15/16. Re: Thinking to buy a used motorcycle, help me!!!!
Today I'd tried a Duke 200 with odo reading 55k (Totally ripped) and wasn't satisfied with it. Also, found a used Dominor, the owner quoted 1.55 L for that ABS variant which had done about 6k KM.
Thought of checking a new Dominor in nearby Bajaj showroom and found the below beauty which caught my attention.
Had a small chat with the showroom guy, he mentioned that NS200 ABS version is coming really soon and I can book one by paying 5K. The on-road price here in Chennai is 1.23L. Since today is Deepavali, I haven't had a chance to ride this new motorcycle.
Also, I requested for a 10km test ride; the showroom guys were okay with that. I'm gonna go there tomorrow to take a test ride, I will keep the thread updated.
Below is a snap of a Dominor, the very reason which led me to the showroom, but time had other plans

Re: Thinking to buy a used motorcycle, help me!!!!
The Pulsar 200 and Dominar 400 are bikes with different performance. First narrow down what your needs are from the bike and whats the max that you are going to spend. Since you are open to used bikes, then within 2.5 lac mark, you can easily get a 2017 Duke 390 or a R3. You might also get a Ninja 300 (however I wouldnt suggest Kawi as maintainance is too high and getting spares is a nightmare).Originally posted by Vignesh94 View PostToday I'd tried a Duke 200 with odo reading 55k (Totally ripped) and wasn't satisfied with it. I would suggest:
1. Take TR of Dominar
2. Take TR of 2017 Duke 390 (dont go for any model below 2017 as they have resolved lots of issues in the new model)
3. Take TR of R3.
See which one you like best and then take a call.
From the pics it seems like the chain and sprocket are at the end of their life.Originally posted by Aniket Lamba View PostI am thinking of buying a second hand bike. Its a 2014 FZs model with 16K kms on it.The owner is asking for 40,000 INR for this bike.Should I go for it?
16k kms is not too much on a FZ.
Please answe the following questions:
1. Did you TR the bike? If yes, how smooth was the engine? Did you notice any vibes or any peculiar sound coming?
2. Whats your max budget?
3. Is this your fiest bike or are you upgrading from something?
4. Is he the 1st owner of the FZ?Yamaha Ray ZR Street Rally -> 2020

1.Yes I did but only for few hundred meters as I was learning how to balance it.The engine seemed smooth to me.Originally posted by hellgate View PostThe Pulsar 200 and Dominar 400 are bikes with different performance. Re: Thinking to buy a used motorcycle, help me!!!!
Since this is going to be your 1st bike, I would suggest you to ask some experienced biker to TR the bike as you might not be in a position to understand the condition.Originally posted by Aniket Lamba View Post1.Yes I did but only for few hundred meters as I was learning how to balance it.The engine seemed smooth to me.
2.40K max

4.Yes,he's the first owner.
There can be loads of issues with a second hand bike and a person new to biking might not be in a position to gauge them (e.g. you need to feel if the handle is pulling in any specific direction, if paint at the chassis joints is smooth or not, as both these might indicate that bike was involved in a bad crash which has bent the chassis. Once the chassis is bent, its as good as scrap). You also need to make any estimate of immediate repairs that the bike might need as that would add to your immediate cost of purchase.
I would suggest you to keep a look out for R15 v1. People generally sell them around 40-50k mark. Overall it will be a better bike than FZ/FZ-S/Fazer.Yamaha Ray ZR Street Rally -> 2020
