    Re: Bike for daily commute

I went to multiple showrooms today. 2 of Bajaj, 1 of Honda, Suzuki & Hero. None of them offered test rides. I just sat on the bikes & had a feel.
Hero Achiever 150 felt the worst.
Honda Unicorn felt that I would’ve the same issue of my legs being long for the bike that they’ll lie downwards towards my heels.
Pulsar NS200 felt ok as the legs were in slight backward position. All other pulsars felt not comfy including NS160. Dominar felt good but my city’s roads are so worst that one is better with Passion/Splendour.
Suzuki Intruder felt the same as avenger. Gixxer wasn’t comfortable.
Only royal enfield showrooms arranged for rides somehow & classic 350 felt ok but it was too short for a ride.

The above suggestion of hiring a bike is good , I’ll try that out.

I am buying for commuting. RE himalayan looks attractive and tall but mileage is impractical especially for my city where average speed is 15-20kmph

Any RE will give the similar mileage! how many kms do you ride on the highways and how many in village?

mileage will be around 30 kmpl if I am right! practically, there is no bike that might suit you due to your medical reasons! also the sitting position where your legs are cramped! I would just suggest you try riding the bike! You can also get more information from the Himalayan Ownership thread!

TBH, even the RE Classic 350 returns similar FE!

Currently my updown is 9 kms city , 16 kms village & the road is smooth. But its not fixed, it can change anytime. I could be transferred to a far away place or inside the city.
I did like the height of Himalayan but not many have owned this vehicle. You’re right I’ll check out the thread for a better understanding.

From what could I gather is RE Himalayan is good for off roading & for on road its front brake feels dull. I haven’t done a test ride though. I’m very confused on which bike I should buy.

                Have you tried SZ-RR yet?
A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

i’m concerned about its mileage, one user in other site posted he filled ₹500 fuel and it ran for 112kms only. Is it that low? ☹️
fz25 has good 40+ company claimed mileage, any thoughts abt that?

Yeah FZ25 has FE somewhere around 35 I heard. No idea about Dominar though. It should run close to 30km/liter if I'm right. I personally don't know anyone who owns a Dominar.

Went to the nearest Yamaha showroom and sat on the fz25. It felt OK. Sat on SZ-RR , felt like just another 150cc commuter. It's good if I want to apply a conservative approach towards my selection but I think I have a bigger budget that I might regret later on if buying a <1lac bike. Also went to another showroom and sat on the RE Himalayan, it felt good. I'm thinking to finalize between Himalayan & Dominar. RE might be more comfortable or Dominar I don't know, I thought experts at such a big forum might help. The main problem is that these showroom guys are not offering test rides where one can have the feel.

Between Himalayan and Dominar, I would suggest to go for Dominar. It's just my personal opinion. Himalayan has so many reliability issues. I've only seen like 3-5 Himalayans in my city. Dominar is relatively new and kinda reliable. Service Centers of both RE and Bajaj suck. Like someone above mentioned, it is better to rent these to bikes for a slightly long ride.

Although Dominar has ABS and so a safer bike, its reliability is not proven. Having ABS will encourage me to accelerate hard 😬. My workplace also includes going to villages where there is a speed breaker every 500kms and roads of Uttar Pradesh are the less said the better! Based on only these assumptions in my mind Himalayan would be a good choice else I know NOTHING about these bikes 😂.
