  • A new 125cc bike for my dad

    Hi guys,
Please help me in choosing the best bike for my dad, he is 60 years old.
My options are : Honda cb shine, super splendor, hero glamour.
I want the bike to be best in all aspects especially suspension, brakes, ride quality and safety features. Budget is not an issue.

3 very similar bikes. Nothing to choose from. Choose the one, whose service center in nearer and attend their customers better, so that your dad wont face any problem during servicing.

I will say checkout the Yamaha stable , refinement of their engines is above and beyond what is commonly offered by others. Saluto RX or saluto 125 are the ones you should be looking at.

Check out the Saluto twins. Is lightest in class while offering a very smooth engine. Should be perfect for your dad to ride and handle.

the 3 bikes that you shortlisted are the best in their class. You cannot go wrong with any of those.

The Shine SP comes with a 5 speed gear box and a option with a disc brake ( always good for city traffic Jams and stop and go traffic.
The super splendor is tried and tested bike, very good for city commuting.
The Glamour is more stylish and trendy, and reliable as splendor.

Take test rides and choose the one that suits you the best.

if you are contemplating shine i would rather suggest go for unicorn. reason being both have more or less the same FE plus with some additonal torque it much easier to putter around the city.

Oops, apologies for the typo sir.
I'm gonna blame the auto correct.

Thanks for pointing the mistake out though. Made the necessary correction.

Thank you all for your suggestions, actually my dad gonna stay in village, so he rides mostly in village and town. So city bike is not required.. Moreover I stick with the thought of buying Honda cb shine... If shine is having any major drawback, then correct me...

Nope, no major drawbacks. A full proof and reliable bike.

How is the service center (SVC) availability in the village for Honda? Compare it with Hero Moto Corp.. I don't think it is wise to go for a bike without the availability of SVC. the more SVCs the merrier. In case one SVC doesn't have the required spare part, you will have multiple options.

The Glamour is a wonderful bike with good FE as well as good performance. It is an all rounder if I may add.

TBH, none of the SVCs care about the customers. However, a complaint to Hero Moto Corp corporate office could help deal with them.

                            Choose wise..

Thanks rreneav for your suggestion, in my town we got service centre for both hero, honda ... Actually am owning hornet 160r , I liked its midrange smoothness, which no other 150 segment bikes can give... So I stick with Honda for its smooth engine.
