Update : Had a heated conversation with Absolute Honda, one of the dealers. Apparently my complaint has been pin pointed to just one dealer ( I quoted that dealer's 'test ride only on booking' comment). The agenda has now become that just one dealer has refused to provide a bike for TD.
I'm officially done with Honda now. Will be looking at other options. Any good sports tourer/ tourer if I spend around 3 lakhs maybe?
If you're a high mileage user then stick with the P220, nothing beats it when it comes to rupee/km's, if you want something seemingly bigger and better then get the Honda CBR250R, as for the rest, proceed with caution provided your intended use in high mileage.

Other than the added benefit of a slightly better cruising speed and world of difference as far as handling goes the CBR250R doesn't offer anything that the P220 does in terms of touring, not to mention spare availability, after sales support and spare pricing is not something Honda's are well known for, especially when you come from a Bajaj.

As I've said before, Bajaj to the Enthusiast is like a Black Man to the White Woman and you've all heard, once you go Black, there's no going Back!

Jokes apart, having a look at my signature would give you a fair idea that I've already walked the talk.

    2011 ~ 2015 Hero Honda Karizma R (Sold at 56.5k)
    2013 ~ 2014 Bajaj Discover 100 4G (Sold at 16.5k)
    2015 ~ 2017 TVS Wego (Totaled at 18k)
    2015 - Bajaj Pulsar 220F (Currently 31k) < Garage Queen!
    2017 - Bajaj CT100B (Currently 21k) < 'Golden Quadrilateral' Runner!

Here I am , just waiting to see a CBR in real, look at it, test ride it, and I'm 90% sure I would buy it cash down immediately if I get a good 'feel'.. honestly, I have read the reviews, I've read fellow XBHPians' reviews and comments, and I'm in CBR's favor without even seeing it.

But just to be double sure, I thought I would go look at one. But its a shame like you said.

If I rule out the CBR, I'll probably be looking at RE, Dominar(maybe).. and KTM perhaps? I don't know .... back to the drawing board
Take a test ride of the dominar, if you already haven't. Seems like Honda dealers here are more caring than capital.

I owe it to you guys to give you a heads up- Talked to the officials at the Regional Office in Gurgaon- They aren't manufacturing any CBR 250r 'ABS' 'Matte black'. Special stress on the ABS and the colour, since there haven't been any demands. All they can offer me is the Standard version, and yellow and red colour only.

I actually did try to not lose hope, call them time and again and give them the benefit of advantage almost half a dozen times, but unfortunately maybe it just isn't in my 'kismat' to get a Honda .. they JUST won't sell it to me , bottomline.. its actually that bad

Damn, shame that such a nice bike is going thru such shit. I'd suggest you to try Dominor.

What's the decision? I don't understand why not go for Dominar or FZ25 now with ABS or P220 itself which now comes with ABS too.

Re: Upgrading from P220 to RE..wise choice?

I know i am very very late to the party but here are my 2 cents.
As the current gen Dominar owner(july 2017) i bet this has been the best decision i've made in my life. The bike has approximately covered 10k kms and man has it been a hoot to ride i have taken it everywhere seriously. I have even taken it to terrains where no man in their right mind would go and on our way back the himalyan gave up and we had to wait for almost an hour as something was bad with the carb and the guys tried to sort it out. yes there have been instances when Dominars have failed to live upto the expectations and even my bike gulped coolant like anything but neither was it mixing with the engine oil nor was it leaking i top it up now every time it gets a lil too low and apart from that it has been a wonderful journey with this machine. I definitely think that bajaj would look into the issues and the 2019 product will kill it.

Re: Upgrading from P220 to RE..wise choice?

Hi guys, I'm sorry I didn't update this thread, but I upped the budget a little, finally zeroed in on the Duke 390 in the first week of Jan, and it's been an enjoyable, a different kind of bike experience than the usual bajaj/enfield route. I'll probably have to get some mods or customization done for touring later, but I'm sure it isn't anything unheard of. City rides with the Duke are amazing, pulsating , and I'm literally dying to take her on the highway!

Here are a few first pics of the beauty!

Like Shreyas put it, it IS most definitely a Hooligan

Thank you all for your wisdom, comments and reviews- Believe it or not, I read each comment with utmost sincerity and respect. Helped me make the decision.
