A karizma with 21k on odo is still good. I would advice you to ask any other karizma owner to ride the bike and check for its condition. Check the handling at high speeds. Even if the bike is not run-in properly, karizma would still run good.

Bro I suggest to sell your Pulsar and go for a Brand new ZMA, you can run trouble free for atleast 3-4 yrs, ZMA is worth for money.
Dont start spending again on used vehicles.

Agree to your point, but probably if I opt to buy a new ZMA, my parents woudnt agree to it.. So I have to settle with a used one, if I have to ....
I will be checking a used Jan 2007 ZMA today.. Lets see how it goes...

              Hi dude,

I just got a feeling that you are the same person which I was few months ago
Because I too own a P150 and I was also thinking about doing what you said, Yes exactly I was also thinking to buy an used zma. Two of my close friends use Zma and I like the bike for long rides.(though the maintenace and spares are too expensive)
But I was fortunate enough to find a good mechanic near my home at the right time and he helped me in fixing my bike and now I should say he was God send to avoid a breakup with my dear one . Now the babe runs real good without much maintenance.
Taking an Zma won't be a bad idea but you should be sure about the bike you pick. Also all the gadgetry you used in ug3 pulsar would be missing in it.

I will be getting my bike fixed by Reddy at Goregoan, if at all I am planning not to sell this one...

I do go thru the same feeling everyday whenever I think of selling the bike

Coz zmas parts are heavenly priced....

Even punny little disc pads cost 1500-1600Rs....so if they were not changed prior to u buying the bike....add 1800Rs for disc pads..(including labor)
plus there would be other miniscule parts which would need change and they come at a price...

I Just an update, honda has raised there spare part prices....

Now front disc pads cost something around Rs2300.......
And, increse the rate for everything else, subsequently.....

Before, these parts were supposed to be imported from Japan and hence their premium pricing. Whom did they outsource it now to?

Hello folks, just a thought struck my mind and wanted some clarifications on it...

People who have been asking me to buy a new bike and rule out the option of a 2nd hand ZMA : Is it cuz If I buy a 2nd hand bike, it will be a 2007 ZMA and since it would have been used for about 2.6-3 years now, within a time frame of 1 year, I the spares would wear and tear and I would have to bear the expenses of replacing all the spares , for eg any engine spare, any engine spare may easily wear out in 3 - 4 years , correct me if I am wrong...
On the other hand if I fix up my bike, with new block piston, valves, oil rings, timing chain, my bike will be all new and peace of mind for atleast next 2-2.6 years ...
But again, its a ZMA that is against a Pulsar 150 ...Too difficult to decide
                        Please help !!!

+ Value of your Pulsar= Almost new Karizma??

Enquire how much would a job like that cost. If a disc pad cost Rs.2300...
People have been insisting on a new bike because the reliability quotient is perceived to be high. Though it might not matter, coz even new bikes have issues. Just visit Ownership Thread, you will know. On the other hand, a truly reliable bike will run well even after 2-3yrs or upto 1,00,000kms.

I think the key is to find a good mechanic to validate the odometer number. If it has really done just 21k it shouldnt be needing the jobs you have mentioned. And as Ravi@17bhp mentioned, ask a Karizma guy to ride it. If its in reasonable shape, just go ahead & pick it up Karizma is known to be a trouble free bike, owners may contradict

                            True mate ....
                            I got another idea today...
Since I am getting a good value for my Pulsar right now, I ll see it at the moment and keep the money (i.e. 35k) aside....
Now its the season of moonson and its much advisable to not to buy a new bike, so I ll save up for these 3 months which will increase my DP and will be able to afforfd a ZMA
But my daily commuting will be approx 50-65 kms, so mileage is a little concern... If I get 30 or above, I am content. But anything below 30 will not be acceptable...
Or rather I may buy a Honda Unicorn... Peace of mind ???

Brand new is always the best choice. Go ahead, sell off your current bike. Save up&buy a new ZMA!
I don't see why new ZMA which has been properly run-in shouldn't give 30+kms.to a litre.
                              Quench my thirst with gasoline!
