  • Buying 2nd bike after CT100B

    I have CT100B from last 3 years now. It has been running good, I have an ownership thread here. Now I am planning to upgrade. My requirements are same as usual:
    1. Budget: 1.5 lakhs
    2. Priorities: Dual-Disc ABS, Comfort, good torque for city rides, nimble for city twists and turns, No-Fairing
    3. Age: 40
    4. Height: 5.6 - 5.7
    5. Weight: 55
    6. Intended usage: Commuting, half the time B2B traffic
    7. Fuel Efficiency requirement: 35+
    8. City & Highway percentage usage: 99% city, once in 6 months 100 km ride outside Hyderabad
    9. Approximate Daily / Monthly running: Monthly 600-700 km, max speed I ride is 50-60 kmph
    10. City / Town /Village of residence: Hyderabad
    11. Brand / Bike type preference: Nothing, as long bike is easy to maintain and spare parts are easily available

    It is good if I can put hard-case panniers but that is not primary requirement. My current ride CT100B is great for city twists and turns but has very poor torque, not at all happy with the power. I have selected few:

    Gixxer 150
    Pulsar 220F
    RTR 160/200 4V

    NOTE: NS200 was removed because compared to RTR and Pulsar 220F, it produces same torque 1000 RPMs later)

        No fairing, but 220F is shortlisted

        For almost 100% city use, I would go for 110cc. But there no bikes in that category matches your criteria. Pretty much all 150-200cc naked bikes fit your criteria and budget. Other than Xblade, Unicorn and Avenger all have dual disc and ABS. There are about dozen bikes. Test ride all of 'em and decide.

        Xtreme 200R and Xpulse priced the same as 150-160cc bikes but at the cost of lower mileage.

          Pulsar 220F has fairing, yeah, I don't like the fairing but the bike is such a legend, out of all the searches I did here, reading more than 500 pages of different threads, it was coming on top. That is why I kept it

          2nd, new Pulsars are coming in June, that's next month. So, I am keeping my eye on that

          FZ25 was on the list too but that's really beyond my budget.

          Avenger Street 220 was on the list too and I could have gone with single channel ABS for that but it has leaned-back seating posture and I know few friends who have it, city rides let's say 90-120 km a day, it kills your back. I ride in city for long hours, cover long distances, sometimes crossing 1000 km a month. Avenger isn't made for that, that is what I got from those owners.

          NS200, I don't know about that 1000 RPM later torque I am complaining about, whether I need it or not. 18+ NM of Torque @8K RPM compared to RTR/220F's 18+ NM of torque @7K. And 6th gear, it will be unused for lifelong.

          @bpk: Gixxer 250 most probably will be fully-faired bike like Gixxer SF.

            Since you have a budget of around 1.5l, you can consider MT-15 or FZ25.
            MT-15 has the same engine as the R15-v3, tuned for better mid range.
            Yamaha Ray ZR Street Rally -> 2020
            Kawasaki Ninja 1000 2019 -> 2019
            YZF-R3 -> 2017 -> SOLD 2019
            CBR 250R -> 2017 -> SOLD 2017
            Ninja 650 -> 2016 -> SOLD 2018
            Blue Activa 125 -> 2016
            Black YZF-R15 v2 -> 2011 -> SOLD 2016
            Black Discover 125 DTS-i -> 2005

                Which isn't the case more than 95%. And you will end up selling it for a loss.

                Best machine is 1 which has best quality service available for itself.

                  @hellgate MT15 is way too expensive for 150cc, absolutely no way. At 20K more I get FZ25.

                  New Pulsars are coming in June and so is Xpulse 200T , I will wait for them to get a TD and decide then.

                      Not a valid excuse for poorly trained staff and below acceptable level of service. Unless 1 wants to just gamble with 1LтВ╣.

                            FZ25 and MT15 costs the same. No price difference. Yes, they're expensive and would cross your budget.

                            Going by the rumour the new Pulsar is gonna be a 125cc version which isn't gonna have ABS or rear disc. So no need to wait for that Pulsar. I don't think they're gonna surprise us by bring one 150cc Platina or CT. You can very well move on and TD the ones available in the market right now.

                            Yeah, Xpulse looks nice. For 3k premium over Xtreme you get Xpulse design and bluetooth connectivity. Other than that pretty much everything is same.
