Re: Need help to choose Bike for 60+ kms up and down
Unicorn has proven its worth over the decade. However its a pretty old model now. Instead of Unicorn, you can check out the Hornet and XBlade.Originally posted by saravana184 View PostExperts, any comments on Honda Unicorn ? is it worth a buy ?
These are newer models and should give the same reliability as Unicorn.
Be aware that travelling 60kms (up + down) will be a huge pain and time consuming issue in Bangalore. During monsoon, the pain will increase. No matter what bike you buy, it aint gonna help much because of traffic.
Suggest you to check and see if you can find a place to stay near your work location.
I was in Bangalore till a month back.Yamaha Ray ZR Street Rally -> 2020

I have rode old avenger 150, Hornet 160r, Friend's Apache 160 4v....Originally posted by 40U5513 View PostOne question. . .

All are smoother than This Vibrator 350.....
No mention the big bills of maintenance in bullet....
Slowest was avenger, which cruised at 80 and Struggled to get till 115 XD.....
Have Rode Continental Gt 650 of royal Enfield, that bike kills every bike that's mentioned in here...
But Its mileage and maintenance is of Car
If the cheaper Apache 160 4v Beats bullet in every practical aspect... So Think how will dominar perform [emoji3590]

Each and every bike from Royal enfield will vibrate to a certain extent (kms) after that it will be lesser as you clock some kms in the odo (my personal opinion/experience). Honda unicorn is a nice bike to drive but there are many bikes with led headlamps, etc. So if you are still more inclined to the Unicorn then it is better to see the Honda X-blade, which does stand out from the crowd.
But if you don't like the pillion seat height of the x-blade then go in for the Hero Xtreme sports 150cc as you are a bit tall this bike has more wider handlebar making you more comfortable for longer rides as well as you sit more upright than any bikes. And it is quite a peppy motorcycle for traffic conditions.
But still do test drive the Xtreme sports 150cc and if you can extend your budget a little bit then go in for Thunderbird 350.

Re: Need help to choose Bike for 60+ kms up and down
I think a 150-160cc would suit the best for your usage,It’s well under your budget,Competition is fierce which means the bikes are really awesome in all the factors. With the remaining money,You can invest in a good set of riding gears, good quality engine oil and also cover service costs.
I’d recommend the Apache RTR 160 4V since I felt it’s the best in this segment with the most equipped engine (CounterBalancer Shaft,4 Valves,Oil Cooling.etc) which also felt super refined.Best part is that it’s also the most powerful in the 150-160cc segment.Has a mileage of 45kmpl in city which can stretch to 50 in highways (Carburetted one),Comfortable seating,Very capable handler for some weekend fun,OTR Chennai was ₹1.22L when I checked. Also the single seat layout is a huge bonus for pillion who prefer to sit sideways.Fi or Carb is your choice.I’d go with Carb to get the better version of that RTR feel and also ease of maintenance.
Another bike I’d recommend is the Pulsar 150 UG5 Dual Disc ABS variant.Costing just over a lakh on-road price.Dated but proven tech that’s reliable, fun and efficient.
Another bike is the Hero Xpulse 200.Really fun bike that’s well built! Not sure how comfy it will be but it sure is built like a tank!
But if you can wait, then wait for BS6 motorcycles.I think they will be coming with slightly lower power and a small price bump as well.By that time,You might also be able to scoop a last batch BS4 bike for a much lower cost!Keep the blue smoke alive!

for some strange reasons, I am not getting confidence on TVS brand. But many people here suggested Apache RTR 160 4V. Let me try a test drive,Originally posted by Bratty Biker View PostI think a 150-160cc would suit the best for your usage,It’s well under your budget,Competition is fierce which means the bikes are really awesome in all the factors. With the remaining money,You can invest in a good set of riding gears, good quality engine oil and also cover service costs.

I am lately thinking of like buying a used bike at lower price and drive for couple of months and wait for BS6. Re: Need help to choose Bike for 60+ kms up and down
Sure! Even the FZ is a good choice,The bike felt sluggish for me though.Yamaha and Suzuki disappointed me with their new FZ and Gixxer,The engine especially felt lifeless and lacking on the FZ,The Gixxer was fun to ride, but I found the seat to be quite slippery,I tend to slide all over the place.I felt that TVS has improved in the quality of build in their bikes with these new Apaches and especially since someone like BMW is there with them,I think we,as consumers can be confident that TVS will provide us good quality build and long term reliability.Originally posted by saravana184 View Post

Another nagging problem is the economy in recession,I think it's not the best idea to shell over a lakh on a motorcycle right now,But it's your call.Best of luck!Keep the blue smoke alive!
