  • Hi guys, need advice on selecting a bike for myself.

Hello everyone, can you guys help me with selecting a bike that suits my needs?

    1. I don't go for long rides and if I do, it's probably a 100 kilometres ride which means me mostly going to ride the bike in town.

    2. budget under 2 lakhs

    3. looks of the bike is given much priority

    4. pillion comfort is needed

    5. comfortable riding posture

    6. I am 6.0 feet tall 81 kg in weight

Thanks in advance for helping this noob.

      Choose between FZ V3 , Avenger 160 street , Avenger 220 and apache 160 4v.

Suggestions based on ranking system keeping VFM in mind:
        1. FZ-S
        2. Avenger 220 street/cruise
        3. RTR200 4V
        4. FZ25

Re: Hi guys, need advice on selecting a bike for myself.

Go for the Yamaha fz 25
          Pilion comfort is quite good.

Sadly I feel there aren't many options available in Indian market under 2 lakh or say under 250-300cc.

Better to wait till April for the manufacturers to release the BS6 variants. You might have some other options. One bike to look out for is the Yamaha XSR155.

Pillion comfort on FZ and RTR 200? Do give this a TR with your pillion to gauge.

I had a friend with me for tests, he was my pillion... is on the heavier side... and he liked the FZ25 more as compared to Rtr200... and all reviews on YT do give this credit to FZ25... enough to convince me...

In 200+cc bikes Pulsar 220 has amazing pillion comfort and soft suspension, you can try that too. I recently got one and it's amazing.

What about the new dominar? It comes close to your budget

You can consider the new Mojo, it is a great bike with comfortable seating.

Are they releasing the xsr155 in India with USD forks? That bike looks dope bro

Wouldn't it be overkill for a guy who rides hardly 20kilometers a day ?

Yeah there is news that it will be released but i doubt it will get USD forks. It will be like the mt-15. And they will try to cut costs so that it is affordable in india. Nonetheless it is a retro looking bike so it'll still be worth it unlike mt-15

Well riding habits change, you can't tell about the future, my thinking is to get the most expensive bike in your budget, it saves money as well as need to upgrade. Here are some pointers
*With an expensive product you get better brakes, dual channel ABS
*with dominar you will be getting excellent headlight, no need for extra expenses on light upgrades
*is a good touring bike if you ever feel like touring
*will keep you satisfied with the power and you wouldn't feel the need to upgrade to a big bike.
*upside down forks, multi information display
                            *there's no replacement for displacement
*lastly, take test drives, rent the bike for a proper riding experience, city, highway, traffic etc

Dominar product is real good, however the mileage is poor to attract someone who mainly moves about the city.
