Thats why we have a commuter segment that caters to folks who ride mostly in city and care about FE.
High displacement bikes are never targeted at the commuters, though people do commute on them as well (like me and quite a few others that I know).
It all depends on the the things that the rider prioritize. If one needs FE, they should not look at anything above 200cc (ideally should be 150cc).
Also if EV options like Ather 450 is available, then they would make more sense for city travel with least expenses.

Re: Hi guys, need advice on selecting a bike for myself.

          Because
          1) it's a new bike, no one has enough long term experience to tell you about it or the reliability.
          2) it's a not so popular brand so it's not widely available across India.
          3) spares availability.

Instead, people are offering suggestions based on what they have used are using or someone they know uses it.

For pillion comfort, all sportish bikes in 1-2 lac suck. I would say Unicorn or Pulsar 150 with uni seat are best for pillion, and maybe Apache 160 4V as it does have single seat.

Also, if you liked FZ25, try P220. Coz i founf FZ seats pillion seats to be too small.

Re: Hi guys, need advice on selecting a bike for myself.

I wont call Dominar too much of a kill for a commuter, but I would definitely call it uncomfortable in traffic, heavy and with aggressive seating posture. I preferred Mojo's handling and posture much more suitable for the dual purpose of commuting and touring.

Its the middle class which is most confused in my opinion, I am one among them. No offense to others here.
Limited budget, but we want everything possible from a bike and then we are confused like hell about which priorities to let go of and how much more budget to increase. Atleast I am seeing it happening with me

Bhai I feel Pulsar is a good series with commuter/tourer balance. Fellow riders can add Apache, FZ and Gixxers to that.

But the old Pulsar series - 150/180/220 are soft sprung which adds to the comfort factor.

I dont know why I always hated Pulsar, maybe thanks to its nut-crushing capacities
Same goes for RE, its like there was always something off with me and RE bikes and when I read the reviews of RE bikes' quality issues everywhere & rode them couple of times, I realized that i might have had 6th sense earlier itself to never fall for its charm
Look at me blabbering, and still considering Himalayan as one of the options

I have a mental block against it I guess. I dont even like its looks.
To be honest, apart from Avenger, I dont like the design of any of the Bajaj's product.
Overall product quality wise they must be really doing great, to sell so many of the pulsars/dominars/avengers, but I have never considered buying one and unless I am out of options totally, I dont think I will be tempted by them

Which one do you own btw?

Bro, having preferences is one thing, but binding your life to some prejudice that's not good in any way. I'd simply suggest you to atleast TR or consider all available options with an open mind.

Heck I wasn't even considering 220 last year, I was thinking about Apache 160/180 and Hornet. And then I went up the displacement with Apache 200, Pulsar 200 NS and then realized those are hard sprung bikes.

And test riding P220 by chance, it was really good. Soft sprung, good power delivery, it has been selling in good numbers for a decade now so parts availability isn't an issue, and the overall design has really matured to a smoother transition. I mean, I've gone thru some really deep pot holes at good speeds in city and I am happy with a functional vertebrae, you won't get that with other bikes like this. And FE is easily 40kmpl+. I get 37kmpl with pillion and some extra weight of mods and spirited riding.

I would say get the highest displacement bike that you can in your budget if you are not too much concerned about FE. This will at least negate the need/urge to upgrade soon for the lack of power in a lower displacement bike.
The urge for more power is something that is very difficult to control especially once you get the taste of it.
You will feel like why didn't I go for that higher CC bike even though it was in budget.

Its more like a negative preference, you can say. I hated its nutcrushing capabilities in early days, and I see that the tank is still shaped like that.
To top that, I dont like its looks, at all. I mean, having heard so many quality and vibration issues with RE bikes, I can still consider them for their looks (obviously its a subjective thing), but I cant imagine owning a bike which looks like Pulsar.
Not that I hate Bajaj completely, I own an Avenger and I kinda gave a fair chance to Dominar, but it dint work out.

FE would be a concern definitely, as most of the times I will end up driving in cities only. Anything above 25-30 should be good for me so I guess a 250-400 cc engine should do.
I see you got a 1000cc one, and you must be saying it from your experience. But I wasnt a "Need for speed" guy ever, too much of a cautious rider in fact. So with less power comes less responsibility
