    1. I don't go for long rides and if I do, it's probably a 100 kilometres ride which means me mostly going to ride the bike in town.

    2. budget under 2 lakhs

    3. looks of the bike is given much priority

    4. pillion comfort is needed

    5. comfortable riding posture

    6. I am 6.0 feet tall 81 kg in weight

Thanks in advance for helping this noob.
With a budget of 2 lacs you can look at the 200/250 CCs.
Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 and naked Gixxer 250. Yamaha FZ 25. TVS Apache RTR 200.
Grab rail on FZ25 is excellent.

All great suggestions and excellent machines. But I think they will lack pillion comfort and a comfortable riding posture (again subjective)
We will let the OP decide then

And yeah, I took a test ride of Gixxer naked 155 and I loved the smoothness of it. Very refined engine. So i am sure a 250cc engine will be a blast.

The gixxer 250 is even more refined ! It has metal bar end weights which cuts down all the vibrations. Also presence of 6th gear and enough power makes it a very refined bike. I test rode it recently and it was awesome, the gearbox is also slick . Only con is pillion seat is very high and it's hard .

Apart from indian manufacturers , other companies don't pay attention to pillion comfort.

If it wasn't for the uncomfortable pillion seat, I would be totally sold for gixxer even if its not exactly the riding posture I was looking for.

Uncomfortable pillion seat is something that can be easily solved. We have plenty of air/gel seats for pillion starting from 2.5k.
Don't let the stock seat deter you from buying a bike.
Understand this: No matter what bike you buy (even the SBKs), they will never be perfect. You need to spend some on aftermarket stuff to customize it to your needs.
Buy the bike that your heart calls out for for and then before buying just research about the shortcomings of that machine and which aftermarket parts will help you solve that.

As for riding posture, even those can be adjusted using aftermarket raisers.

I had given it serious thoughts and researched a little bit but couldnt find any proper solution to bring the pillion seat height down.
Its not just the uncomfortable pillion seating, its the height and overall setup which makes the entire experience difficult for my wife, and understandably so.

The Jawa I have booked (which i am might cancel anyways soon), also have hard seat but I know there are solutions to make the seat comfortable for both. But I cant say the same about Gixxer.

Suspension lowering kits are available for big bikes. Check and see if they have such kits for the Gixxer. However these might lower your GC a bit.

I checked with 2-3 shops who do custom jobs here and they told me that they can make the seat comfortable & can reduce pillion seat height by changing suspension (which they said is not very productive) but I was told that the overall effect would be couple of mms and not much. So I have stopped investigating in that direction completely. Maybe I checked with the wrong people, if you know any good shops in Bangalore which do these custom jobs, then please let me know.

Custom job on a brand new bike, I'd call you brave to even think about that. Test ride will let you know if a bike suits your purpose, after that you select what you like or compromise. I'd rather discourage you from attempting mods in a new bike. Instead you can get used to a bike and tweak it a year or more later to suit your preferences, expensive mods on new stock bikes aren't worth it. Even if you want to go that way, atleast look or ask around on thr ownership threads of the bike to see what are the practical implications of the mods, there's always a side effect but maybe someone found a way to tame it.
