other i think you should not go for..........
coz as hell glider said.... its true

    for ur requirements
u need a bike with good handling and comfort..........
and no sudden pick ups like rtr because u dont seem a racy guy
so for complete comfort for you and your wife
go for a bike that suits all this

    as someone said
dont for too much weight otherwise a doctor may need to treat his own arms
traffic needs good handling and flick ability
    so think on that terms
    and take test rides

although there is a comparison between the gsr and uni
as people are telling........... gsr may be a problem for ur wife
its pillion seat is too much heighted

well it makes sense to me
but then in the end i dont want u cursing me for this thing
according to BIKEINDIA....... in their review they have written that at high speeds
winds come directly on the face of pillion...
    n this is unbearable!
but i cant tell this is true or not
so this point i think its for u to trust or not
    at ur own risk

if the showroom guys allow....... take ur wife for a ride on both bikes
and ask her opinion as well

make sure u buy a helmet with some basic things like knee and elbow guards for you and your wife
even the experienced crash sometimes and this knee and elbows are very important
i have known people losing their mobility

ps : all thoughts are according to my opinion........
Thanks for ur valuable advice, will keep all these things in mind.
Today test rode suzuki gs150r, bike looks really good and has a big bike feel, engine is smooth, though the bike looks heavy i found that handling and maneuverability is good. dont see a point in having a 6 speed transmission, b'cos dint even got a chance to ride in the top gear.
Was not really impressed with the dealer, saboo marketing musheerabad hyderabad. he quoted a price of 66888 inclusive of life tax insurance and temp registration, excluding accesories and perm registration. Good thing there is no waiting period and all colors were available except grey.
More updates after i test ride unicorn.

How come the FZ is out of discussion ? Rear seat height can be a question though and water splash can be a problem for the pillion as I read in the FZ ownership forum, otherwise is quite of a comfortable bike with good power.
GS has amazing handling even with a higher weight. The 6th gear lowers the vibes for long distance cruise (even in city). Do not go with the fact that it will be a bad experience for a pillion at high speeds. The tests done by the magazines are at top speeds (Over 100kmph). Even if that is true: Would you really ride at 100kmph inside city with your wife as pillion ? If yes then on any bike this is the problem.
I am a little off Honda as even for smallest service one has to take appointment (as told by my friend who has an xTreme). Although- Any bike by Honda is anyday comfortable with minimum services. Unicorn/Hunk/xTreme are good choices.
No point taking a 125. Even if somebody is upgrading from 100CC. A 150 CC is always better.
      Just my thoughts!
      Fear is the Trigger!

Dude never go for the extreme - altough it is a good bike acceleration and all. but the pillion seat is extremely uncomfortable...

PERSEVERE... failure is not an option!

What is so uncomfy about the Xtreme's seat? Except it being tall, which could be a problem for short people, I have not felt any glaring issue when I'v gone pillion on by Xtreme.

One of my friend has an extreme, and whenever i ride pillion with him it is the most uncomfortable ride for me, and yes height is another factor but I was talking about the inclination, you seem to slide into the rider most of the time and i even find the seating position very uncomfortable..

Again its my experience, you may find it comfy, but looking at the fact that his wife is going to be the pilion most of the time, i seriously don't think Xtreme is a good choice........

FZ is a good bike, but juist doesnt fit in my priorities since i m looking for commuter 150 c.c ( yeah i hav decided it has to be 150 not keen on even considering 125 cc)
Just now went to aadi honda showroom malakpet hyderabad. They said they r not giving test rides, sounded really indifferent. on road the price is 64,415 excluding accesories. waiting period of 45-60 days.
So my inferences...... unicorn works out around 2000 rs cheaper, after sales service not much of an issue, but waiting period of 45-60 days, gs150r looks much more advanced and sophisticated than unicorn.
And the lady told me that i would be charged 12% life tax instead of routine 9% if i already have a bike registered in my name
There was this another guy in the showroom ( must be a broker ) who saw my 2001 splendour and told i can get rs 19000 for it.
Thats it for now hope to keep u guys updated and thanks for ur priceless opinions.

There must be something different about your friend's bike. I don't remember ever sliding into the rider.

There are no more suggestions to give. Test ride the Uni and the GS150 and go for the one you prefer. Remember that the GS150 is a newer bike and hence is better than the Uni, but Honda spares and services are much better then Suzuki. Let us know, which bike you finally go for.

And yeah, go to some other showroom for the Uni test ride. There must be another one in your city!

                          ^^^ Seriously!

And if you keep thinking more and more, I can guarantee you that you will be disappointed. Just as no man is perfect, similarly no bike is perfect. They all have their imperfections - the trick is to find the bike which suits you the best.

                          Hope that helped.

                                Decided to go for unicorn,
Reason........ with unicorn i wont hav to worry abt after sales service and it has a proven track record, b'cos in long run it makes a huge difference, in case of a newer bike like gs150r i need to run to showroom for every little problem.
So my conclusion would be anyone who has bit more money and risk taking appetite then he can afford to go for gs150r which looks and feels better than unicorn especially the digital console and for some like me there always a unicorn
The idea behind putting forward my thoughts is that it ll help someone who is in similar dilemma as i am.
