  • Which 150cc bike to buy?

    Hi everyone,

This is my first ever post on this forum.I have decided to buy a new 150cc bike. Here's the criteria for the bike.

    Needs
    ------

    --> Price Range : less than 72-73k
--> I weigh 57-58kg so the bike should not be too heavy and i should feel comfortable riding it
--> Mileage : I have to commute to office everyday almost 24km. So i would need a descent mileage say 45-55kmpl
--> I am confused on the choice between Apache RTR 160,RTR 160 FI and the Yamaha FZ.....
--> Looks : The bike should be good looking

Could you guys give me some suggestions on which one to buy??.....

Edit: I need to buy a bike by mid or end august....so please help me out....

And one more concern is i shouldnt have a backache...cos i already have a slight problem.....

Since your Daily commute is Long and you have a Bad back i would not recooment Any RTR . They have sporty riding stance that can take a toll on Long distances .
You also need 45-55 Mileage so Fz ruled out but its quite comfortable .

Other Bikes -Pulsar 150 and Gsr 150 . both are good bikes with all that you need and look quite good .

My pick would be the Pulsar 150

the point is in Bangalore everybody seems to have a Pulsar 150 and its getting boring looking at it....I have riven the GS 150R (My roomie has it)....its good but it has a bit higher riding position which is a bit uncomfortable for me...I am around 5-8' or 5-9'.....so what would you suggest me instead??...

24 KM on RTR is like 15-20 Minutes at worst

@nimma: I would suggest you have a feel of the bikes and decide..
            The best bets are
            1) RTR (FI or Carb)
            2) FZ (Fazer)
            3) Unicorn\Pulsar\CBZ X

IMHO A sporting stance done correctly helps get the weight off the back and throws the weight on to your thighs... !

Lean figure with backache.......only 150cc requirement under 72....
Let us list the 150cc models

GS: Good ride - More gears for city ride.!!!... Lack of service centres is the only problem
FZ : Good Ride - will look Somehow not composited with your Lean looks
RTR: Vgood ride for Lean Guys....but u have Backache....Not good - but i would strongly recomment - buy this and get used to it....back ache will not be a big problem
CBZ: Nice commuter i will secondly recomment this
              P150: No Comments
HUNK: Nice but but a bit heavy ....so not recommending
Unicorn : Good Commuter but will look big....But i will thirdly recommend this
Achiever : Good commuter......Styling i know u will not go for it.....

Atlast Four stands out : (if u are not going for P150)

              RTR
              GS
              Unicorn
              CBZ
Test drive the above Four......and come to an END.......

The Unicorn itself or the two HH iterations (CBZ-X and Hunk) would be ideal as per your requirements.
Take a TD of each and take your pick.
The Zuki GS150R comes loaded with a few issues right from the showroom (viz. Rusting inside the tank, Tardy rear brake).

All things considered, the Uni's/Uni engined HH twins riding position is very back-friendly as well.
Please do let us know as to what you finally plonked for.

                Cheers !

                  Hi Nimma,

Your looking for a Bike within 72k, 45-55kmpl, good looks, commuter, light weight ---- Too many requirements
however when you choose a Bike you have to compromise any one of your Requirements

I would suggest UNICORN would be the best option
It is <72K, 45-50kmpl, Looks are not that bad, Good commuter as well as Tourer, I am sure your would feel very easy to handle the Bike

i am also ~58kgs.. and am driving FZ, if mileage is no concern you can go for it...
whn i thought of buying these are the factors..
unicorn heavy than any bike in its class+but more waiting time in HYD, donno other places
gsr - handling is good.. but i didnt like the phy.appearance..
cbz - this was my 2nd option gud looking.. mileage better than fz...
apache - frankly i never thought of it..
pulsar - common vehicle.. so out of my mind...

                    lastly i choose fz..

may b as per ur req... better gor for unicorn as this proven reliable machine for both road an highways

@Nimma - Since you dont want Pulsar then take GS 150 or FZ . Fz is now coming with 3k discount and its comfortable and with a easily adjustable suspension . Only concern would be mileage of around 38-40 .

Gs 150 is other option and i dont think it would be too high for you once you get adjusted to it . Im sure a shorter custom seat can be made for you if its a problem .

                      I ride 50+ everyday .
In delhi 25 kms one way it takes me 45+ Mins everyday , add all the Bumps , uneven roads and you have sore back with the RTR . though now i have set the rear suspension to softest and it does help to ease the ride quite a bit but that fun in cornering with hardest setting suspension is gone.

Get the FZ bro its one amazing versatile machine, especially on bangalore roads the bike is a real dream to ride.

go for fz, it will return you around 45 kmpl...
Personally i think its the best among 150s (leaving R15 though)

@Nimma where are you based out of? and can you throw some light on what would be your standard riding conditions and what more you expect from 'your' bike!

Go for P180 UG4, you wont regret it else Unicorn though i dont like Unicorn much. but it has got a good engine! Do test drive a FZ before buying, i was not impressed with it somehow when i gave a test ride. Apache is great if you are not on the taller side.
