thnks niranjan, here someone is expecting a sincere opinion from us. So instead of taking the side of bikes we own, need to comment on what we have seen & experienced. This real experience is what he is in search of. Thats what I didOriginally posted by niranjanvaidya View PostWay to go Rachit...nice unbiased opinion.
For me, each bike is respectful as it is what has made each of us feel proud of her & hence we call ourselves a 'Biker'.

Yash.rsa : I don't recommend touring after sun set even with the best headlamps in the world. Your planned tour is not small by any order, better take rest during nights and tour during day.
Zma is proven tourer and it straps a reliable Honda mill, go for it. The avg. mileage of Zma is about 35 kmpl, 25 kmpl is for zmas that are ripped hard/bikes not maintained well.

lol yes i agree, thanks for erasing my doubt.Originally posted by srini View Postboth zma and P220 have proved their touring potentials and you have many owners of these steeds here to prove the fact...since P220 is in your budgets reach, just go for it,though zma too is a damn good tourer to be ignored...as for the headlights buddy, that won't be a hindrance at all unless you keep taking U-turns throughout

You said "none of the two" and thats the problem...."which of the two"? I really dont want to convert this thread to yet another p220 vs zma,Originally posted by rachitkohli View PostAs praful said, any bike could be used for touring. Just you need to know 'Your' bike. Once you get user-friendly with your own bike, u can take anywhere & she wont complain.
P220 am not sure, have not test driven, only on the Dyno. so cannot comment.
ZMA i myself own it & have done numerous long tours without any hitches. Just did a Mumbai-LEH-Mumbai trip, where we rode for 10-15 hours daily for over 19 days. I never felt any body-ache problems, nor my bike gave any problems throught the 6500kms journey except for the normal punctures.
But, even the other riders didnt had any problems with their bikes which where RTR160, Electra & A P150. So I would'nt sideline Karizma its the best among the rest, but I concluded after this trip was any 'tamed' bike can be taken. I cannot neglect the fact that Karizma is one of the best tourers available relative to most of the factors of power, comfort, relibility.
About the lights not turning on the corners, thats not at all a problem. As it will only effect the handle is turned too much while taking a turn which is not done actually on the corners. No-one is going to spend more than even 2-3 seconds taking that kind of turn where the handle is turned & headlight straight. The lights are good enough & has a good spread.
P220 lights are way to powerful & wont be at all a problem on turns as the spread is relatively big.
Make sure you test atleast a bit & just choose a machine, get saddled up & jump for the tours that you have planned. I assure u, none of the two machines would ever make you feel regretted.
1. how much zma cost on road in delhi ?
2. is p220's new carb dtsi engine better than zma's ?
3. whats the top speed of the two?
4. which one returns better mileage?
5. lastly which on eis more economical to handle.

hello vipin, i dont travel in the dark when m in remote areas. thanks for your siggestions, i'd be glad if you can answer some of the questions which i've just asked above.Originally posted by vipin_s View PostYash.rsa : I don't recommend touring after sun set even with the best headlamps in the world. 1. 76K Approx.
2.3.4.5 : I feel there are no one line or one word answer for these questions, it lot depends on rider, driving habits, proper run-in , ripping factor, maintainence of bike, etc etc. It's said Splendor mileage is about 60 kmpl, but there are riders who get 40kmpl and some even getting 80 kmpl, hope you got my point. I suggest you go through ownership experiences and then decide based on your 'liking'.

go for any p220 dtsi or zma ... had a trip with zma and p220 dtsi a 1100 km trip in two days chennai to kodaikanal two bikes four ppl .. both bikes where good for touring .. i rided my p220 whole 1100 km .. my friends in zma changed once in every 60 km .. i didnt find anything uncomfortable with my bike .. p220 rocks .. night riding was awesome with the good lights far more better than zma .. and i am much happy with p220 dtsi adn zma too .. so just go for any both worth for the money .. so just go for any .. i just loved the trip with my p220 .. wanna go once more .. the speed was thrashing and comfortable to handle at high speeds and breaking is too good .. i recomend p220 at any cost a inch more than zma

i say go with p-220, although zma is attractive if you are into touring, but p-220 have some advantage over zma
best headlight(bikes under price of 2 lakh
)
meatear front fork for dealing bad roads
really good brakes(though lighter weight of bike would have helped)
great straight line stability
thought zma will be good but p220 is better

but still ,it is a better(if not best) option for tourers.Since Pickup and Weight is an issue along with maintenance ,Check P220 or Karizma.Originally posted by yash.rsa View PostBullets are heavyweights and have poor throttle response and low initial pick up, thats why i didnt shortlist them. please correct me if m wrong.

I did a lot of research and has concluded that indeed P220 has an edge over all of its main competitor and esp zma due to following points :
1. best look (wolf shaped front headlights are stunning), people may say they dont like it but is it really true or a reaction from envy...lols, its a personal choice.
2. Better handling and posture, read somewhere that clip on bars are actually more pro-comfort.
3. Best mileage despite being the fastest. p220 makers deserve applause for this.
4. Most powerful.
5. Pulsar has made its presence dominant in markets of Guatemala, Columbia, Malta, SL, Indonesia and rapidly growing in Brazil and making marks in 50 other countries.
It makes p220 a worldwide winner, would it be a brand of honda/yamaha it would have thrashed the sales record in every country. HH is ruling India from the last 2 decades but did nothing outside India due to its aggreement with Honda which prohibits HH to sell its bikes in Honda market countries. We must appreciate and support Bajaj not because its an Indian company but because it has world class products who are conquering the international markets with great competition.

thats a good news yash, knowing that you finally narrowed down on a machine, may it be any.. here the mere reason could have been personal choice as both specified machines are best in their own manners..!!
So your own choice of looks & other factors are important, as I said you wont regret with either machines u own..!!

yeah dude... both these machines are unique in their own way but if your requirement is touring mostly then i personally would suggest the ZMA. i previously owned a ZMA and have done a lot of touring on it and trust me its the most comfortable indian tourer i can say. Honda is known for their smooth engines which is a big edge over the P220.

rachit and josh, yes i know both of the machines are equally remarkable with their own pros and cons. i really wish that i wont regret with my decision later on. google is flooded with the news of new p200, is there any base or just rumours ? p200 is my favourate and i had gone to bajaj showroom to buy a one and then i was told that it has been recently discountinued...which made me to choose from p220/p180/zma/fazor etc.
