  • Hayabusa or YZF-R1

I want to own a superbike.I am considering hayabusa or R1 and confused between the two.It should be easy and fun to ride.On basis of looks hayabusa is the best and fastest but i doupt that it is not gud at twisties.I want to test ride both of them so how can I do that because I am putting a lot of money into it.

Under capable hands, Hayabusa is a good handler, despite the weight. It's very leanable on corners too.
People from around the world trust their 'Busa for City Riding & Cross Country Touring.

Moreover, only a Busa is well capable of 50 kmph in 6th gear, Just Imagine the low end torque. Maximum power is roughly the same in both bikes (+-10%), but the added 340cc in Busa help for better low end torque...

You see, Busa has a engine which has been refined from time to time. Busa's a clear leader in its segment, but R1 is not.

Busa is more comfortable than R1 for both Rider & Pillion. Moreover, Busa has that Drive Mode Selector, which makes it easy to ride under various conditions, even in Wet Weather to some extent.

My Recommendation: Based on various reports from Magazines and Internet, I would suggest HayaBusa for real life road usage.

Only if you have Serious Race Track Career plans, should you choose R1. Or if you fear weight too much.

I want to test ride both of them so how can I do that because I am putting a lot of money into it.
I could have told you names of such members who own Busa or R1, BUT you did not tell us in which city you are??
Which city my bro? Hyderabad? Bangalore?

It will come into consideration!, as this is Sbk we are talking about, that too 60 kgs heavier than R1 ... But, it is not a serious issue.

I have turned my Pulsar into signals with my Dad (70 kgs) and my sister (40 kgs) as Pillions, and add to it the Pulsar itself (155 Kgs Wet Weight) ...
A total of 265 Kgs weight was handled by me (65 kgs guy), which is more than Busa itself.

So, a little tough it might be, but not enough to worry a lot. Weight is not that much a genuine problem for the average youth, however the long wheelbase might be, as the turning radius is bigger ...

              Just for facts:-->

              07' R1 weight = 177 kgs + 17 Litre Fuel + Oil
              09' Busa weight = 236 kgs + 21 litres fuel + Oil

Kriss (from Hyderabad Xbhp) owns a Busa. He can clarify more ...

i was bit confused regarding , which one is easier to maintain......

is there a tyre eating issue with the busa , or a heating in traffic issue with the r1......??

                        guy's please clarify..

meanwhile as far as i know both have almost the same power and top speed , with the busa having a slight upper hand, am i correct ??

and yes the most important, which one has a better service response in india, (delhi)..?

well busa is easier to maintain.but if u love ur bike maintenance isnt a problem.no issue of busa regarding tyres, only if u ride on atleast FAir roads.yaah r1 got a heating issue.it gets heat uped rapidly than any other litreclass.but tht isnt problem in spite riding a SBK

i reckon u r gonna use them in india.so both bikes cant be pushed to their limits.both got their own thrill n intensity.but practically speaking busa got more top end.

till now..reading reviews n magazined and from some of owners, i think suzuki got better service response than yamaha.recently i seen many problematic r1s too.so i wud go with BUSa overall.

                          one more thing.if u go for a r1, u must w8 for a 09 model.

                            1. I don't believe Yamaha has stock of R1s at the moment...you may have to wait for a bit for the 2009 model. I wouldn't recommend the 07/08 model now that the 09 is out.

                            2. The Hayabusa is VERY different from the R1 in terms of the "feel" and "handling". It is more of a mile-muncher...designed for long distances at speed and comfort. I've done multiple 1000+ Km rides on the Busa with great results...not in India though. I cannot imagine doing that on an R1.

                            3. The Hayabusa is deceptively quick. On the R1 you get an amazing sensation of speed. On the Busa you have to keep an eye on the speedo because it urges you to go faster than advisable.

                            4. Both bikes attract waaay too much attention in India...both the right and the wrong kind. The wrong kind will tempt people to attempt theft, assault etc. and you may even come under the radar of young politically connected people who ride around on modified pulsars looking for trouble.

                            5. Both bikes overheat in traffic - your thighs will be edible after an hour in traffic.

                            6. Both bikes need premium fuels that are scarce

Keeping all these in mind - I suggest you save your passion and desire for a country that will allow you to ride these bikes the way they were meant to be ridden. If you have no plans of leaving India - get a big-bike that is usable everyday...but has the performance to keep you happily ahead of everything else on the road...

                            Get the CB1000R from Honda
