  • What bike should I go for???

    Hello everyone,

I am a college student, and I was looking forward to getting a bike for myself.I am not a very experienced rider. Infact, I am a beginner. But I am unable to decide as to which bike to go for.

I have the following bikes in mind:
    (In no specific order)
Pulsar 180 DTSi, Pulsar 220 DTSi, Apache RTR 180, Yamaha FZ16, FZ-S, Fazer, R15, Karizma ZMR.

    Money ain't a problem.

I am looking for performance and looks. I'm 5'7, 150 lb.

    Suggestions welcome.

    Aamir.

please tell us more about your usage bro coz that's a long list you've got there...really difficult to pick just one bike out of it
It all begins with a thumb-start -- Oh, wait, I forgot the kill-switch

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

Well... being a college student.. one does want their bike to be COOL. The bike should be different from others... Should be definitely maintenance free (no experience). Indeed this is what I felt when I was in college.

Considering the above factors.. I would suggest you wait for the New ZMA which will launched very soon..

It has got lot to offer..
          Amazing looks..
          Latest Technology..
          Ride Comfort..
          And yes.. Enough power

          Cheers

I know this is completely out of the blue...but go for Blood Rayne.

On topic though, Karizma or P220 for performance. For looks I'd say beauty lies in the beholder's eye. Whatever looks cool to you. But there's no perfect combo of Beauty + performace AFAIK.

If you are karizma fan then go for it new technology is always best.
my recommendation go for pulsar 220 because you will be a learner for some time + it has cheapest spears from the bikes which you have quoted above.

If you are a inexperienced rider i'd suggest you stick to the 150cc segment for now and once you get the hang of it upgrade to the bigger bikes ala r15, p220, ZMA etc. In my opinion the best leaner friendly bikes available right now are the FZ16 & RTR160. I would rate the FZ a bit better simply cause it has better low-end torque so the need to shift everytime you slow down isn't needed as well as the fact that the massive rear tyres provide massive amounts of grip which should boost your confidence. Another aspect is the gear, they are slick shifting, slightly better than the RTRs. RTR on the other hand has good acceleration and slightly better handling. Though the stock tyres suck really bad. Take a test ride and decide for youself between these two.

I mean they ain't that bad man...ok!!! they ain't as gud as R-1-5's but they don't really suck that bad ...i can say that after 22 months and 25k kays+ usage...and enough rainy rides throughout maharashtrian ghats...yet to change the So-Called-Sucking-Stock-tyres

hey aamir...for a beginner i wud suggest to go for a 150cc...in my opinion...the choice is totally personal...test ride them,,,and select the one u are comfy with...

FZ Series(FZ 16,FZ-S,Fazer) are good in terms of looks, handling in traffic,road-grip....fazer is on a costlier side though...but looks are head turning...the lower and middle range torque are good...it helps in traffic...
fuel economy is approx about 40-45.

As far as apache RTR 160 is concerned...its known for its hooligan behavior and is tried and tested by time...u can test ride it and check out if you are comfy enough or not...

for little bigger bikes(180+cc)...if you are not confident about your riding skills...dont go for them...

                            ALL THE BEST...

Lol can't stand a bit of criticism i guess? Anyway i still stick to my view that the OEM TVS tyres that my 160 was shod with were pretty bad. Used to loose grip pretty easily. Same was the case with my friend who has an black RTR. I am not comparing them with the R15's FYI. They are bad in their own way for a bike that has such fantastic handling & not only me but a lot of bike/auto mags including OD, ACI have put down the tyres on the RTR.
Hats off to you doing 25K kms on those and taking the bends and all. And no offence taken, we all have certain experiences and viewpoints.
