@stranger : Forget GS issues once for all, as per my knowledge, it's history and Suzuki has sorted this matter, I also saw new GSRs with no rust issues.

After sales n svc., depends on so many factors, just check ASS nearest to you and if it's good just buy GSR.

As many say GSR has many goodies than Unicorn and HMSI ASS is not that good (personal exp. with Haiku, B'lore -- overcrowded, no attention paid to complaints, even cleaning is done badly, staff behave arrogantly, first free svc of my Pal's Activa took three days !!!)

My personal advice is to go for the Unicorn.I have ridden both these bikes.

      1) I felt that the GS150R had an excellent gearbox,in par with that of the Honda. They both have the best gearboxes in the market. But gear lever position is a bit awkward in the GS150r...so the Unicorn gets the Edge here.
      2) ENGINE- Unicorn here again. I can't name one single bike which has survived almost a decade in the market without any major changes to the bike. Reason- The best engine ever to hit Indian market....
3)Mono suspension- I will give the Unicorn 10 extra points for the suspension alone
      4) Handling- Unicorn handles the corners really well..has one of the fastest corner exit speeds
5)Looks- Depends..although I find the Unicorn more proportional..
      6)New upto date Gizmo's- GS150R here...
7)Quality of parts/fit and finish- Honda here again..you just take a look at the engine paint finish on the GS150R and the Unicorn and you will know what i am talking about!!...

so now you can make a better decision..all the best!!..

The shape of the gear lever gives an edge? BTW the new Unicorn has only toe shifter. In GS, you have an option to use heel too.

        2) ENGINE- Unicorn here again. I can't name one single bike which has survived almost a decade in the market without any major changes to the bike. Reason- The best engine ever to hit Indian market....

Unicorn hasn't even been here for a decade. I know a few pulsars from initial batches to be performing beautifully. Even RX, splendors, KB from 90s n 80s. Honda is not just a single survivor historically.

3)Mono suspension- I will give the Unicorn 10 extra points for the suspension alone
I didn't use Uni on bad roads, bt one of my friends was very negative on the mono suspension thing, when he returned back from Pune-Shrivardhan trip. While going he rode a Uni and didn't like the suspension one bit. While returning, he was on P180UGIII n he was all praises. However, I could be wrong here!

        4) Handling- Unicorn handles the corners really well..has one of the fastest corner exit speeds
        No idea about the comparo.

5)Looks- Depends..although I find the Unicorn more proportional..
This is very subjective. I felt Uni to be bland, with no distinct characteristic. It's a no problem no worries bike, sure, but that's it. Involvement factor was zero for me with Uni.

        6)New upto date Gizmo's- GS150R here...
        You bet!

7)Quality of parts/fit and finish- Honda here again..you just take a look at the engine paint finish on the GS150R and the Unicorn and you will know what i am talking about!!...
Pls clarify, as I fail to see the difference.

so now you can make a better decision..all the best!!..

My Vote goes for GS150R..unicorn is too outdated now..at least in terms of looks. I am just not blindly saying about GS150R..but across the GS thread and you will know why GS is capturing the market.

If ur mind is just stuck in between GS and Uni, i think u should go for Gs as it's complete VFM.

Unicorn is a very good bike, but its slowly getting into the History books. GS is a newer bike, with newer technologies. GS should be the default choice IMO.

Gearbox: You are saying that GS150R has an option of using your heel for shifting gears unlike Unicorn which has only a toe shifter. What is the point of having a heel shifter when it is not comfortable enough to use it!!...In simple words the toe section and the heel section are not placed properly for the rider's comfort. It's kind of irritating atleast for a new user..

Engine: You got me all wrong here...i mean't surviving in a market with no big technical upgrades even when so many other options are available. I don't understand why you went into RX,KB, splendor etc...i was just trying to make a point!!...

Suspension: First time i heard someone say that the Unicorn's mono suspension is not that good...

Uni's suspension was never too soft. The softest suspension : Pulsar 150 & FZ16.

                      Good Evening my friends,
                      Thanks for sharing ur experiences.

As I've already mentioned that I've lower back ache, the suspension smoothness matters a lot. Some of you quoted uni shox are not that smooth compared to GS particularly on single riding. Pls confirm this. I dont have test drive options at my place so i completely rely on your responses.

Also recently one more xbhpian became victim of rust issue on tank (seen at gs ownership thread). Is this not yet resolved. Rust issue will be heartbreaking if found in new bike. isn't it?

                      Thanks u to all,

                        Thanks u to all,
This is just my opinion and no offense to anyone or any bike .

Mr stranger_twenties , normally I dont post in this section mostly because I feel only a test ride tells what a person wants and then if there is confusion , he has to make a compromise which I do not support but we have to make it because we got no choices here .

                        Anyways ,
I will try to point some things out , do keep these in mind while taking a test drive and decide because what I might find bad may be good for you ,
                        opinions differ.

As you mentioned you use it to commute to office .
The questions that arises here is that what kinda road is the 30 km stretch? . Considering our road conditions , its would be a combination of both tarmac and off road conditions .

Now GS does not have a good weight distribution , according to me .
Its feels heavy. People say while riding it doesnt bother much .
But is it ? , there are heavy and heavier bikes out there that feel like a breeze while riding , not like this one .
And then while riding in traffic ( which except for highways you must be doing always ) , while squeezing out through traffic and crowded lanes, etc where you would not be riding continuously at good speeds but very low speeds and with a lot of breaks here and there , you have to tackle this weight with your body , legs and hands which all are connected to your spine i.e., what I mean here is the heavy weight with not so beautiful distribution of weight will exert more pressure on ur back and will only aggravate your pain .

According to me , GS does not have good brakes .
And then there are issues like Rusting , etc .
Then small niggles like problem at some 3 or 3.5 k or whatever RPM.
My question is why to compromise when you pay your hard earned money man and when there is something better available . You spend thousands just to disturb your peace of mind and the most important thing in life which is time . Its ok if its worth it but again according to me , ITS NOT.

Honda unicorn is an absolutely brilliant piece of engineering and according to me should not be compared with Gs . The handling , the braking , the engine , all are better than Gs according to me .

Only thing some people have told me that its suspension is a stiffer compared to others . While riding singly , I also found it to be so but only on off roads or pot holes .But I was riding with company settings.
What most owners and a highly experienced rider and a owner have told me that it is not true . You just have to set the suspension settings according to your convenience and you re done .
Hence I am not sure on this aspect of it .

Now I do not wish to confuse or fear or trouble you or something .
But If you do have a back problem , why dont you consider buying a light weight , nimble and flickable bike . Unicorn is also a heavy bike comparatively . Some 100cc or 125cc which would be comfortable also or a second hand car which has good suspensions . Is you back ache problem due to muscles or spinal cord or both , whatever . Remember this part of your body is the most important in life , once there is a problem with it which in most cases is incurable will make life really difficult .
Rest you choice and your life .

                        Please note :
I have just given my opinion here , you please take others advice also and then decide whats best for you .
I have made some assumptions . You please make corrections and interpretations based on facts and your actual conditions and health . Sorry if I have given unnecessary suggestions ,etc . Just that I cant see anyone disabled . Oh yes if still not convinced consider what your heart says and work for it , do yoga , massage so so .

All the best mate and take care of yourself .

I don't know even a single person who has changed his mind by others opinions.
most of the people have already decided which one they will buy ..
Go for the bike which you like the most..

From your posts I can bet you will buy suzuki ...

Test ride is the only way to decide bike. And u can inspect GS150R before doing anything final.
