Mr stranger_twenties , normally I dont post in this section mostly because I feel only a test ride tells what a person wants and then if there is confusion , he has to make a compromise which I do not support but we have to make it because we got no choices here .

              Anyways ,
I will try to point some things out , do keep these in mind while taking a test drive and decide because what I might find bad may be good for you ,
              opinions differ.

As you mentioned you use it to commute to office .
The questions that arises here is that what kinda road is the 30 km stretch? . Considering our road conditions , its would be a combination of both tarmac and off road conditions .

Now GS does not have a good weight distribution , according to me .
Its feels heavy. People say while riding it doesnt bother much .
But is it ? , there are heavy and heavier bikes out there that feel like a breeze while riding , not like this one .
And then while riding in traffic ( which except for highways you must be doing always ) , while squeezing out through traffic and crowded lanes, etc where you would not be riding continuously at good speeds but very low speeds and with a lot of breaks here and there , you have to tackle this weight with your body , legs and hands which all are connected to your spine i.e., what I mean here is the heavy weight with not so beautiful distribution of weight will exert more pressure on ur back and will only aggravate your pain .

According to me , GS does not have good brakes .
And then there are issues like Rusting , etc .
Then small niggles like problem at some 3 or 3.5 k or whatever RPM.
My question is why to compromise when you pay your hard earned money man and when there is something better available . You spend thousands just to disturb your peace of mind and the most important thing in life which is time . Its ok if its worth it but again according to me , ITS NOT.

Honda unicorn is an absolutely brilliant piece of engineering and according to me should not be compared with Gs . The handling , the braking , the engine , all are better than Gs according to me .

Only thing some people have told me that its suspension is a stiffer compared to others . While riding singly , I also found it to be so but only on off roads or pot holes .But I was riding with company settings.
What most owners and a highly experienced rider and a owner have told me that it is not true . You just have to set the suspension settings according to your convenience and you re done .
Hence I am not sure on this aspect of it .

Now I do not wish to confuse or fear or trouble you or something .
But If you do have a back problem , why dont you consider buying a light weight , nimble and flickable bike . Unicorn is also a heavy bike comparatively . Some 100cc or 125cc which would be comfortable also or a second hand car which has good suspensions . Is you back ache problem due to muscles or spinal cord or both , whatever . Remember this part of your body is the most important in life , once there is a problem with it which in most cases is incurable will make life really difficult .
Rest you choice and your life .

              Please note :
I have just given my opinion here , you please take others advice also and then decide whats best for you .
I have made some assumptions . You please make corrections and interpretations based on facts and your actual conditions and health . Sorry if I have given unnecessary suggestions ,etc . Just that I cant see anyone disabled . Oh yes if still not convinced consider what your heart says and work for it , do yoga , massage so so .

All the best mate and take care of yourself .
Buddy what are you saying. Gs150r weight distribution is very good, most weight is concentrated to the lower part of the bike. Yes, gs150r is heavier than unicorn, but by just 3 kg heavier. With engine balancer and 6th gear, i think that 3 kg extra weight than unicorn is justified. The gs150r engine is as rugged as the unicorn engine. I doubt if unicorn engine will survive if revved hard.

Like any other bike, unicorn too has its own complaints, like clutch prob, gear slipping, engine heating, hard shockabsorber, etc. Some customers face the prob, some dont face any prob. But one thing i can surely say is with honda you can expect worst after-sales service. Gs150r too has its own probs, hunk too has probs, pulsar has its own probs, apache has its own probs, Fz16 too has probs. There is no such bike without problems, afterall it is a machine.

Also a bike which is good for someone, may not be good for you. It depends on what features you want. Some want power, some want smoothness, some want mileage, some want easy handling, some want highway stability, some want rear disc, some have no kicker. No bike will meet all your requirements, just buy the one which satisfies most of your criteria.

One thing i suggest is buy a bike with square engine, meaning bore and stroke should be equal or almost equal (2 to 3 mm difference is okay). Square engine is best in terms of torque and power balance.

Oversquare means bore is bigger than stroke. Oversquare engine is for high-revving engine with high bhp at high rpm, but less torque at low rpm, reaches top seed quickly.

Underquare means bore is smaller than stroke, like bullet. Undersquare is for better torque at low rpm, but less top speed, good pulling power. They are more durable too as they operate at low rpms.

One thing i agree, bikes with monosuspension are easier to handle and turn, but pillion comfort is questionable. Monosuspension is useful if you want to ride zig-zag, but in city riding mono or dual-rear suspension does not make any difference. If pillion comfort is wanted, then dual rear suspension is better, especially on bad, potholed roads.

Also, R15 has fuel-injection, so no kicker. That is okay as fuel injection bike will selfstart easily. Even cars have fuel-injection, not carburetor. In my opinion, bikes with carburetor like dazzler and hunk should have kicker. Better not neglect kicker; it is wanted in cold weather.

Lighter bikes are easier to handle in traffic and parking; heavier ones are stable on highways. Also, check dry weight and kerb weight stats. Check power to weight ratio too. Kerb weight should not be more than engine power cc. Also, engine compression ratio should be above 9 for powerful engine, not like karizma-R which has compression ratio of 6, so its 225 cc but it is still less powerful.
