  • Need help in chhosing my first bike

Guys I've been yearning to get a bike ever since I learn't how to ride one. My budget is 50-70k. The bike's got to have atleast a 150 cc engine, the fairing in karizma/stunner i.e. the fixed headlamps thing is preferred. I'm not looking for too much power, But a good looking sporty bike is what I want. Fuel efficiency required is >40(atleast although I'm a student so higher the better ). I'll be traveling around 40 kms a day, all in city traffic conditions.

P.S. The 150cc engine criterion maybe overlooked in cases of stunner/r125(if the r125 gets launched in India). Also I am willing to wait a little so you may include bikes that are expected to launch.
A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel.

R125 will probably never get launched here .

Stunner gives 60 Kmpl , p220 will give 35-40 . both have fixed headlights that you want

Consider any of the FZ series bikes. Since this is your first bike the sure handling FZ will be great fun to ride and easy. Adequate power and drop dead gorgeous looks. And the build quality, fit n finnish and a Brand value of YAMAHA.

Dude I'm completely with you on this one...but my friend has got a FZ16 and we usually hang around all the time so I dont want to get an Fz coz I dont want to look as if I copied him.....Does this make any sense to you???

Although If my friend hadn't gotten the fz16 I would've definitely gone for the fz-s(and removed the shield in front of the instrument cluster coz I think it doesnt go with the look of the bike)

Thanks for the replies though....all of you guys have been very informative

Also the guy who taught me how to ride a bike(actually there were 3 of them since I was really having difficulty in letting go of the clutch in a slow manner....) thinks that a pulsar 220 will be too much power for a starter like me.........he owns an apache 150(the first one) and has recommended the pulsar 150(which I dont really like coz of the no. of pulsar 150's I see on the roads everyday...just plain boring)

So this is what I'm thinking.......is there any way that the front fairing of the p220 could be fitted on a p150 (or say a p180 for that matter)???

Err so you won't get a good bike just cause someone you know has it? Doesn't make any sense I would suggest you go with the FZ or the RTR. If you really want the fairing then be prepared to spend 10k more and get the Fazer. Getting the p150 and adding a fairing to it won't make any sense. It'll be a jugaad job at best.

My friend with the FZ lives very close.......and we hang around all the time.......you wouldn't buy the same bike as your brother wouldya?? same concept applies here.......

Dont like the fazer much.........although I really do like the apache 180 rtr.........but I read somewhere that the TVS srichakras that it has arent any good....it that so??.......I took the rtr 180 out of my list beacause of the tire issue only

go for the fastest indian ,in few days you will get control over it & love it, but if you go for smaller bikes you will soon feel they are underpowered

Alright ..... so here are my options.......rtr180 or p220 Should I start a poll now??

and plz guys before any opinions you give keep in mind that I'm at best a newbie to the biking world so am just a tini-tiny bit scared that I wont be able to handle the p220(although the first time I saw the headlamps....I would've thought it was a robot if not for the wheels .....immediately started liking that bike)

handling of rtr is very good , may forgive you for your oversprited moves, pulsar provides good comfortable ride, & if you like the pulsar go for it , both are very good bikes, so whichever you choose you are the winner , take a test ride listen to your heart & choose what your heart says
