  • Yamaha-R1 or Honda-FireBlade?

    Folks,
I'm looking to buy a SBK. I've closed my options on either Yamaha-R1 or Honda-Fireblade as Ducati is not affordable
Please suggest which one is good option. I'm based out of Pune & Delhi

    R1:
Favour: Nice Looks, Good exaust, lot of features on the front Panel LED display, Good Service network, Switch Throttle modes A & B (2010 version) like Hybusa
Issues: Wait until late-Jan or check on some 2nd hand 2008 model

    FireBlade:
Favour: Good Looks, C-ABS, HEDS, Turn indicator on the mirror
Issues: Honda Service Network, Some issues in the bike based on some review comments from FireBlake-Kolkatta, Exaust, no fendor on the back tyre, less features on the front panel

    Many Thanks in advance.
    Yash

I would suggest you to wait for autoexpo, most probably R1 2010 will be getting launched , along with you may find more and better options
so hold on your money for another 2-3 months

I already knew the specification for 2010 R1. It's already launched in US.
Though India will have European version which suppose to launch towards EOD month but will have hardly any major difference compared to US counterpart.

With all due respect to honda but I would prefer R1 always at anytime. Not only because of the brand name or technology but also the service center issue, as honda service center guys are not yet qualified to do the servicing of a bike of these category.

Will you be doing city riding with it?? If yes, close your eyes and go for Blade.
One more thing i would like to mention is after that initial problems of Fireblah, his bike is a touch wood now.

R1 2010 booking has already started..if you give them advance they are promising delivery by jan end.

My friend has Honda fireblade....i personally dont like its looks Specially the nose is roundish...i personally dont like it. even Bike India when they reviewed it said it has the worst looks but good engine. I agree while riding i personally(i am just a simple rider without any knowledge of any sorts) found honda little refined...the engine response the noise were all like a sophisticated lady Whereas R1 screams like a sexy *****(R6...the loudest and seductive)

I would always go for R1...specially the 2010 R1 white and grey looks yummy. But not yet seen it in flesh.

So now its you who has to decide...technologically wise if ur not into racing...Honda or Yamaha wont matter....so if i were in your place who is buying for the pleasure of owning a sportsbike...then i would not take the reviews into consideration but rather go in for the best lookng bike.

              Cheers

Both the bikes have almost the same specs. Btw what would be your purpose of purchase? Would it be city riding, touring or track? The fireblade would be easier to handle, but the R1 is faster than the fireblade.
I would suggest you the R1 since it is like a wild horse, the thrill of high speeds on it would be great. Once you get used to it, you'll simply love it.

Yash: Thanks Moeed, My purpose is mostly city driving (that's too on late evenings or early mornings) and some short-touring.

Yash: Thanks Neo, I just checked, new R1 will be on display in INDIAN Yamaha showrooms next month and delivery around late Jan after Auto-Expo. Looks wise both are equally good, atleast for me ;-)

the 'blade is simply more usable around town -and like bunnymarwaha said, if you don't like too much attention on the streets, the blade is the weapon you really wanna go for. it blends with the traffic like no other. for an experienced rider though, the r1 is more ...rewarding

Hey Yash, if you have been thru' MCN review where they had shown the riding position of all the Jap SBKs is more or less same, barring 2-4cms here and there. Also no matter what SBK you ride you will get used to power delivery. With Price more or less same I strongly recommend you go for Fireblade. I myself ride R1 and lot of people say that power delivery is raw and rear tends to slip. But that is not true. You know limitations of your bike. I did Mumbai-Goa-Pune trip this weekend and it was ultra smooth. Reason i recommend FB is bcoz you will pay money for the features you will use. In R1 you pay for crossplane which trust me, will never come into picture during City driving and short tours. It's purely driven. where as for FB you pay for features which you will actully makes sense for City riding. I personally dislike 09-10 R1 looks. Anyways lemme knw if you need any more info for R1. Pheww!!

                            R1 is 11.5 Lacks
                            Honda CBR1000R A9 13.25 Lacks

for me, Fireblade with closed eyes,, specially when it comes to riding around city,, if its for track use ill think again!

if u can visit peoples who r having these bikes, just sit on it n feel which one is more comfy. body bend towards handle is little different on both bikes.

dont bother bout one is faster and noisy than the other, believe me its not much differ with all stock accessories, even the speed difference is just seconds!
