The new Blade is smaller. It is not too flashy. It will probably like to stay hidden and unnoticed. Until the time comes and in a blink of an eye it rockets ahead with immense speed!

    That's Honda CBR for you.

IMO you can go in for any of the bikes you have shortlisted.. both these bikes have their own plus and minus but then finally it comes to our personal choice.. no doubt the blade is a very good bike but it is a honda and so it is bound to be refined and will get you more value for money... whereas the yamaha on the otherhand is like a wild horse you need to tame it and enjoy it..
Personally i would go for the R1.

Well, as a person who is going for a SBK you would definitely have a personal choice, affinity, towards one of the companies. Which company/bike you like the most? Just go for it. You won't regret buying any of these machines. This is no brainer. The only deciding parameter should be your personal liking.

Both the bikes are equally good, go visit some US or UK forums and find out if your expectations are inline with the owner's feedbacks. But I would prefer the R1 anyday.

I would choose the bike which has better "after sales and service", b'cos quality of these bikes would be gr8 as they are imported from Japan.

i don't think after sales service would be an issue with these bikes.. yamaha and honda are very big companies and have a reputation to keep up with these expensive bikes... alsp you will get a good mech to do small jobs in pune for these SBK's as there are a lot of imported bikes there.

there are many R1s around but not the fireblade. that makes fireblade exclusive. hence my option will be fireblade (comparing with 09 r1 only)
I have heard 10 r1 is having new engine and its good.
From the reviews / forums.. R1 is too track oriented machine while the blade is a civilized tool.

                    Honda cbr or Yamaha R1

hey guys....at last my dream is going to be a reality...i have promised my mom no tours for 2 to 3 years until i settle well in my career and future.so in return am getting an SBK ... i just love R1 for its racy exhaust note but would like to explore other options too.however i did not like the protruding headlights of the new R1....anyways i read somewhere that cbr is easier to move in slight traffic than the R1.also the R1 can make a leg tikka out of your legs due to the excess heat....etc etc....just help me in getting the right one for me....i guess its not that useful but i am 6'1,95kgs broad built....plz tell me other options too...though my heart goes with the R1,i want to explore other areas too

                      Query Merged

Are you a track junkie ? I would like to understand why would anyone go for a superbike (r1 or blade) in India if he is not a track junkie(maybe for other reasons viz. it looks cooler, you got 3.5 lakhs extra cash etc). It would have been understandable a year ago when we didnt have any options, but if you ask me save your body trauma and your bank a little more cash and go for the existing Honda Cb1000R or wait for the FZ1 which might come out sooner than later.

But it is your money and descision after all, the R1 and blade are almost the same unless you are very specific about few things. Whetever the case study this thread and a few more around and then let us know what you finally buy.

ooops,i dint notice that a similar thread exists...i was just too excited and created another one.

coming to the bikes i am totally in love with the R1 and also the fireblade...that was my dream for almost 6 years now.however i never asked my parents cause i felt i did not reach a stage in my life where i deserve it.but i guess my mom must have seen me drooling at the wallpapers and the obvious pictures on the walls of my room that am just crazy about it.so when my mom gave me the deal i was like whoopee doooo ...i am totally into the r1 exhaust note and its looks(minus the lights)..i will be either settling in vizag or bangalore and would ride my 220dtsi on weekdays.i would ride on the selected bike on weekends and on my remaining tours.the only gear in need to buy are the pants.....

and no am not a track junkie,am a tour junkie....

i just want to know what are the differences between those two bikes...thank you

@Satan: If you will ride the CB once, you would fall in love with it! I personally love the 2010 R1 more than anything else, but riding in traffic, or otherwise, the CB is an absolute hoot! Comfortable seating posture, 125 odd horses, 10.5kg/m of torque(!!), and looks that could murder - what else does one need, really. On top of it all, like Sunny mentioned, you save loads of money, Rs.3,50,000/- to be precise. Moreover, you say you like touring; touring on a Superbike will kill your bike eventually, whereas the CB is the perfect tool for touring, really!

However, if you are stuck between the Fireblade and the R1, I would say it's a tough choice. But, I would definitely go with the 2010 R1.
                            :)

Congrats on your decision to enter the world of superbikes.....

if tourin more go fr cb1000rr.....for the above reasons mentioned by aryan

although i have never ridden it.....but almost everyguy in this forum says about comfort of cb1000rr... and that its a well mannered bike as compared to r1

but its your decsion ...... and your 11lk rupees so i suggest you better go for the model which you like

i booked mine with a 100% decision that this was the one i wanted.....

and once booked Pls Pls Pls dont have regrets and "what if thoughts" the true potential of these bikes can only be used on national highways.....

r1 cb1000rr gixxer and the busa's are all signature models.... with no cost cutting and ulimited r&d budgets...... so no one is bad..... its just ur personel prefrence and your riding style

                              HAPPY SHOPPING

                                105 Kg/m right?
And have to agree with your line of thought there. The CB does seem to be what the head would agree with.
But, i'm sure one would lust after the Blade or the 'One

                                Cheers !
