While TVS is the first in India to get a proper clutch less bike, the concept is not new as it has been tried out by Hero Honda in 1997. HH had a step-thru bike called the Hero Honda Street, and had four gears but no clutch - it had the same engine as the Splendor. I owned that bike back then, and it used to shoot forward like a rocket(compared to other bikes in those days) due to its lower weight, leaving other guys on CD100's, Splendors and KB's dumbfounded at traffic lights!

I loved the concept though - there is no clutch, you just decelerated and engaged the gear If I remember correctly, the front and rear brakes were both operated by your hands.

The bike has no clutch lever. The rider can simply shift the gear and keep moving. You can compare this to riding an automatic scooter where you do not have to change gears it happens automatically. Similarly in the case of this bike you do not have to press clutch to change gears.

Interesting concept.. would love to try out this bike.

Would be great if riding camps are organized to let people experience this bike.

Sorry, what I meant to ask was if there is any lever at all on the left side. I mean like the rear break or something or none at all ?

New Delhi, Nov. 17 -- The country's third largest two-wheeler manufacturer, TVS Motor Company, is set to launch a 110-cc clutch-less motorcycle, a first in the world's second-largest two wheeler market.

The bike will be unveiled to the company's 600-strong dealer network in Macau on Wednesday and would be launched in the country later this month. It will be powered by a 110cc engine with four gears, comparable to most other vehicles in its category, but will have an auto clutch system coupled with an anti-stall mechanism, which make the bike almost gearless.

Street and street-smart were indeed some of the most successful two wheelers among youngsters back then.....there was no lever on the left side....rear brakes were as right pedal....

about jive...i am not sure about public reactions....but i guess it will appealto the masses who travel in dense traffic....but dont admire the idea of small wheels....

I saw a picture of it in Autocar Magazine. It clearly shows that there is no lever.

Wego is sure a performer! Have seen it on the roads, and scoot could easily manage 70-80Kmph for a long strech!

^^^ He saw it when TVS was road testing the scoot.

                            +10 to that.

I heard it to have two headlight bulbs for better illumination.
That's only twin pilot lamps as you have seen on the Streak.

Nothing. It is blank. Like the HH Street / Honda Cub / TVS Neo

All the levers are in the same place as other bikes except for the missing clutch lever.

The bike can move in any gear. It doesn't stall. The rider needs to select gears only for the power delivery he needs.

Need to see better pics of the Jive (a good name but probably not for the Indian Junta.... let us see)

The Price being in the same range of Starr City 110, Platina 125 DTS-Si, Splendor Plus / NXG, this can be a smart choice. Those who ride a gear less or have ridden the HH Street in heavy traffic can appreciate the clutch less shifts instantly. TVS Should organize camps to let people feel the ride experience.

This is what innovation is. And, to price the innovation aptly is another innovation. Such useful stuff that comes out of dedication. Not the sticker upgrades or red alloys, not the folding number plates or extra spark plugs, not adding fixed fairing or launching limited edition colours and pricing them higher. Yes, I am taking a dig at every other bike maker in the country - including Yamaha (for their FZ's colour schmes - even after they gave us excellent & innovative R15 & FZ 16) and Honda (they gave us the Street but that was priced higher and was like an expensive brother to the reliable M80). Will give Honda some grace points for the Combi Brake system.

                            Wego... awesome... thoughtful...

Maybe I confused it with one of the scooters I might have ridden during that time. I had the street in 1997, and 12 years is a long, long time !

its a good move as per the scooter is concerned!

i like the way TVS has taken up the competition with HMSI. if priced properly, people will start giving second thoughts to aviator. one more scooter in a sporty cloth, and tvs will be recognized in the scooters market also. now the only scooter they were known for was the girly scooty.

for the bike- what happens when i start the bike and shift to first gear cuz it has no clutch! how does this thing work.

but it is intresting product. would like to see how many of these i spot on road!
