  • What Bike

Hi Moderator.. pl excuse my post in Universal section, as i m new to X-BHP thus was not so friendly on how to post a new thread under respective unit.
But need your guidance on urgent basis... pl advise ASAP as would be buying bike before 25th Dec09..

Here i m with my query of what bike to be purchased, as per posting guideline, following are the details for your kind perusal:-

    1) Working in Software firm in NCR with 5.9 hight & 65 KG
    2) Office to home & Vice versa would not exceed more than 20 km in a day, but exceed in Weekends.
    3) Currently possessing HH Passion 2005 model, now i have given my niece to enjoy his college days atleast (as its pretty good in condition, i maintained this bike like anything)
    4) Suffering from back ache (would prefer a bike with best siting posture while city drive & even on Highways too)
    5) Estimated my balance & arrived that i can adjust till 70-80 k (INR) max
    6) Should atleast run 50 KM if i fill in petrol for Rs 50
    7) Should have puncture resistance tyres (No tubes)
    8) Better headlamp light as being in software industry many of us face night riding issue..
    9) Dont have to race in NCR traffic so should be of optimum power
    10) Pillion position to be relaxed (as i may get chance to seat at pillion sometime)
    11) Kick start (if electric start doesnt have any problem)
Few bikes recommended by my collegue like Fazer, pulsar 180, ZMA-R, HHH etc..

But i strongly belive you guys...I know decision will be purely mine but guidance would mean a ton for me.. pl advise...

    Thanks in advance..

almost all of the bikes recommened by ur college guyz have a sporty riding posture, so u need to rethink on your choices,, by the information u have mentioned i can suggest you GS150R..

BTW i too own a P180UG4 and didnot have any backache problem, itz a good choice if you like or compensate with riding posture

        3) Currently possessing HH Passion 2005 model, now i have given my niece to enjoy his college days atleast (as its pretty good in condition, i maintained this bike like anything)
        4) Suffering from back ache (would prefer a bike with best siting posture while city drive & even on Highways too) - Hunk (Excellent GRS suspension which you can set to soft for a plush ride), Uni (Monoshock, very comfortable), CBZ X (Slightly inferior to the Hunk suspension otherwise excellent), GS150(Comparable to Hunk suspension), HH Glamour (Very pliant suspension). H Stunner (PGM-Fi)
        5) Estimated my balance & arrived that i can adjust till 70-80 k (INR) max - All suggested bikes fit in the budget.
        6) Should atleast run 50 KM if i fill in petrol for Rs 50 - HH Glamour (highest mileage), Uni, CBZX, GS 150 (almost similar) .....Hunk will return 45 if ridden hard (mine ) or around 50 if ridden properly. But will give you a lot of riding pleasure.
        7) Should have puncture resistance tyres (No tubes) - Uni, CBZX and Hunk have Tuff up tubes. AFAIK there are no tubeless in this range. (After market fitment of a Michelin tyre possible)
        8) Better headlamp light as being in software industry many of us face night riding issue.. - Hunk is ok. Best is GS and Glamour with some small touch-ups.
        9) Dont have to race in NCR traffic so should be of optimum power - 125 CC suits you. 150 will be good for the weekend ride.
        10) Pillion position to be relaxed (as i may get chance to seat at pillion sometime) - All bikes have decent pillion seats (HHH scares a bit as it is a high seat, the pillion will be shouting and hugging for protection!!)
        11) Kick start (if electric start doesnt have any problem)
Few bikes recommended by my collegue like Fazer, pulsar 180, ZMA-R, HHH etc..
Fazer (mileage low, pillion seat is virtual, no kick), P180 a good compromise but the suspension will tax your back and no kick. ZMA-R is a great choice, fits the bill, but your budget will stretch, mileage is 35-40.

HHH is my first choice. (BTW has electronically controlled kick starter. Does not back kick!)
        HH Glamour - Choice 2
H Stunner PGM-Fi - Choice 3. (good mileage, nice pickup and decent looks, comfortable, decent pillion seat)

        For the mileage thingy...

I had written a long lecture in this what bike section only , for a guy suffering from backache and had almost same requirements like u .
See if u can find it .

Btw in 150 cc and 180 cc pulsar has the best headlights , but its a heavy bike .

The correct way to go would be a good light weight bike .
I suggest discover 135 , even this has good head lights .

Disco is not very comfortable on the back. I rode my friends and it is the case (though my weight could have been the reason, weigh almost as much as the bike! )

That info would certainly help , I always tell people to test ride then decide.
Thats the correct way . We can give pointers which should be kept in mind while test riding .

Yea not only bad headlights , gs is not a good bike according to me , so i dont recommend it to anyone. Though it has good soft suspension , but as you said hunk is almost same then hunk is the way to go if it is between GS n Hunk . Anyways if someone finds a problem , he can get rid of the bike much easily coz its HH .

Thanks a lot guys for you valueable suggestions..

Do avoid more confusion i have shortlisted 3 bikes to go ahead.

                      1) P180 2009 model (with Clip on handle bar & tubeless tyres)
?do you know expected mileage or is it adviceable to go for clip handle bar and without kick start
                      2) Fazer 150 2009 (for comfort riding.. what would be expected mileage eventhough it would be less..will try to adjust with mileage)

                      3) P150 2009 model (has kick start but nowdays a common bike)

                      4) HHH (as you guys also suggested but HH short with good quality headlamp & dont have tubeless tyres too.

Pl advise on above so that i could firm my decision based on your guidance

1)i own P180 2009 UG4 and itz clocked 4500kms and it always gave me a mileage between 48-52kmpl... test ride it and you will surely not be disappointed..(i recommened it the most..)
2)fazer.. well forget about it...... donot buy it untill you want to just throw your money on something which doesnot deserves it..
3)P150 !! hmmmmmm.. no leave it,, as P180 is just 3-5K costier than it...
4)my cousin has it,, and is very happy BTW you will have to test ride it,,because it is too ordinary 150cc in itz segment.. but surely very reliable as itz a HH product..

at last i will recommened you either go for an P180 or apache 180.. both this machines are VFM and very reliable in terms of performance and mileage..

I will not suggest the Fazer and P150. From the pointers that you had given it fails on most of them.

p180 is a good bike even the A180 is good and a little exclusive compared to the P.
Suggest you test ride both bikes (and I mean ride for atleast 20 minutes on all kinds of roads) and then decide.

                          All the best!

@ abhi: dude, the HHH has thee best roll on times for all the 150 cc bikes and also the fastest 0-60 speed . A lot more comfortable than almost every other bike (bar the Uni maybe)...

no no , no apache for back ache guys . Vibes might cause problems .

Dude I appreciate your love for bikes n biking , but your back is something invaluable n something you cannot think life without . This I am talking in generic sense , dont know the intensity of your back ache .
Although comfy , all these bikes are heavy . And can sometimes put a good damn amount load on your back .

I would suggest you to go for a good and light weight bike .
If you would have been riding alone , FZ was the way to go because it COMPARATIVELY light. But since u have pillion sometimes , go for a light weight bike which is comfortable ... u can compromise on performance .

Remember you can live without a bike but not with a bad back . Will be a sour point all your life . So take care of yourself n be practical .
No offense in anyways , just considering your health I wrote all this .

Still if its not as serious as I am talking or you wont listen ,
Go for something your heart says. I think p180 eh ? .
Hope is a good thing ,
may be the best of things and
no good thing ever dies .

Get busy living or get busy dying .

Considering the aspects like back ache(prime concern), mileage, budget usage that you have posted, I think the new P180 would be good bet.
With clip-ons, the posture will be sporty, so you will have to check it for yourself..

Another option is Unicorn.. An underdog which excels in all aspects.. Mono shock will be a boon for your back ache issue. Will give you good mileage and super smooth performance.

For good headlamps you can always upgrade to a better one on any bike..

Note : why do you go for a bike in Dec? If you can wait till Jan you ride will be labeled as 2010 model. It matters if you ever have to sell your bike..
